Fedexpress vs Janko Tipsarevic next up. Lets face it . . . 30 straight AO sets in a row . . . this guy is unbeatable at the moment. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by Nobody: 7:33am On Jan 19, 2008 |
Janko Tipsarevic! yay! Takes the first set off Roger Federer! |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by PDF: 11:16am On Jan 19, 2008 |

Re: Australian Open 2008 by dinozzo(m): 12:12pm On Jan 19, 2008 |
davidylan:my oh my it was a cracker, Federer had to take this one in five sets. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by salehm(m): 12:45pm On Jan 19, 2008 |
i think Federer was just lucky to get away with this one.it was a real Cracker. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by Nobody: 4:02pm On Jan 19, 2008 |
salehm: You can say that again. Tipsarevic could easily have won this game. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by ricadelide(m): 4:21pm On Jan 19, 2008 |
I wish I saw that Janko/FedEx match. Had to sleep. Who's gonna win this Hewitt/Baghdatis battle? It seems Marcos' gonna take this third set; its 5-3 at present. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by ricadelide(m): 4:43pm On Jan 19, 2008 |
Of course I was wrong, Hewitt wins the third 7-5. What's gonna happen now? No sleep for those aussies down under. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by dinozzo(m): 5:04pm On Jan 19, 2008 |
Seems Baghdatis is on his way home, Hewitt leads 4-1 in the fouth set. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by ricadelide(m): 5:30pm On Jan 19, 2008 |
dinozzo:wow! 5-5 from 5-1 down. This is now a battle of guts! |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by Nobody: 5:31pm On Jan 19, 2008 |
Hewitt will regret this if he loses this 4th set. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by ricadelide(m): 5:44pm On Jan 19, 2008 |
Yay! Marcos takes the tiebreak. The thing to worry about for Hewitt is that Marcos has never lost a 5-setter here. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by Nobody: 5:44pm On Jan 19, 2008 |
7-6 fourth set to Baggy! How did Hewitt lose that set? To think i missed Arsenal's third goal just to watch Hewitt close that game off at 5-1. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by ricadelide(m): 5:47pm On Jan 19, 2008 |
davidylan:Lol . . . I also missed it. Had to see how these two fighters will slug it out. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by dinozzo(m): 5:59pm On Jan 19, 2008 |
what time is it now in Australia , nawa for this match o. Baghdatis leading 2-1 in the final set with Hewitt serving and now break point for Baghdatis. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by ricadelide(m): 6:33pm On Jan 19, 2008 |
finally, its over. Hewitt wins. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by Nobody: 6:35pm On Jan 19, 2008 |
At last Hewitt! It would have been a disaster had he lost . . . losing the 4th set was criminal. |

I wonder where the tennis sage Octopus is? Her oy Nalbandian just lost today and boy did he lose. His game was a calamity to say the least. Just couldn't get his shots going for more than a point at a time. How about Tsonga eh. Two top ten scalps for the unseeded chap And he looks a real prospect. Anytime a player can call on a quick first serve to get himself out of trouble then you knwo you have a hot thing. The boy is powerful, with big shots especially that forehand. And he seems to have matured. This meeting against Gasquet was in stark contrast to their last grand slam meeting at Wimbledon where Tsonga frankly looked immature and wild. He seems to have worked on controlling his shots and that helped him claim the scalp of the no 8 seed. I know how sexually unsatisfied women must feel now. . .after watching the Vaidisova/S.Williams match. It was over before you could say jiffy. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by Nobody: 1:04am On Jan 21, 2008 |
Davydenko is booking his flight home as we type . . . Nalbandian is a sorry sight, Gasquet is finished, Roddick is on a downward slide . . . Vaidisova is a big baby but she will mature and become another Sharapova. . . Henin is looking vulnerable, how on earth did Kohlschreiber beat Roddick the other night and then just refused to win against Neimenen even when he was presented the chance several times? This is shaping up to be one eventful AO. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by profade1(m): 6:25am On Jan 21, 2008 |
Blake just beat Marin Cilic in straight sets 6-3 6-4 6-4. There's hope after all! |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by bioye(m): 10:54am On Jan 21, 2008 |
It appears that the men's singles will be between veterans Federer and Nadal and new kid Tsonga. And my Serena-Venus final prediction stills seems a possibility. Let's see how it goes. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by JeSoul(f): 3:37pm On Jan 21, 2008 |
prof ade:abi ke, I was shocked to find out Blake is still alive, but his reward is a match with the FedExpress, too bad. My money is on Roger. and Roger vs Djokovic, I'm drolling at the possibility and maybe he can do some of those player impersonations too- that dude is great for tennis. How about Tsonga huh? I liked him since last year and now all my rooting is paying off , I hope he moves on so I can watch him kick Nadals butt in the semis. Those capris need to go! |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by profade1(m): 8:39am On Jan 22, 2008 |
Jesoul, Don't count Blake out yet. Anything can happen in tennis and some of it has actually been happening. Federer looks a bit more vulnerable in this tournament than usual, though I wouldn't mind a Blake/ Tsonga final. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by doyin13(m): 8:42am On Jan 22, 2008 |
Serena lost to Jokovic. No one was more surprised than Jokovic herself. 36 unforced errors says it all I think |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by profade1(m): 8:56am On Jan 22, 2008 |
Serena was very sluggish and listless in that match; I wonder what happened? |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by doyin13(m): 9:10am On Jan 22, 2008 |
There is no comprehensible tennis reason that Serena should lose to Jokovic who struggles to reach 90 mph serve. And did you see Niemenen against Nadal. Some of his second serves should earn him a ban from the tour. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by viee(f): 11:25am On Jan 22, 2008 |
prof ade: i stil dont get it wld love to blame the blister she had but Jankovic was also injured now now guys who predicted Henin victory well Shar simply blew her away 6-4, 6-0 shara has been in devastating form since the tournament started beginn to look like she will take it |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by bioye(m): 11:42am On Jan 22, 2008 |
Jankovic beats Serena? Sharapova beats Henin? For me, these results are shocking. Is this the way Women's Singles is? - utterly unpredictable?. I wonder what the results of the remaining Women's quarterfinals will be. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by viee(f): 11:55am On Jan 22, 2008 |
well, i hope d result of of one will be Venus into the semis she has been sluggish as well, while Ivanovic has really 'uped' her game kinda have a bad feeln about this as a Williams fan ie they are even out of the doubles as well Tsonga/Mikhail my bet will be on Tsonga |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by profade1(m): 11:57am On Jan 22, 2008 |
Bioye, To continue the year of anything can happen in tennis, Blake is beating Federer 2moro, and Venus and Radwanska are going through to play each other in the next stage. I love this game!! |
