this is a really sad morning. 6-2, 6-3, 6-2. It wasnt even close! From now on i'm a Tsonga, Nadal fan. |

Re: Australian Open 2008 by romeo(m): 12:09pm On Jan 25, 2008 |
Could be a Tsonga-Novak final with the result so far Federer down 2 games and fighting with Novak 6-6 on third set |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by bioye(m): 12:11pm On Jan 25, 2008 |
Can you imagine? Federer lost to Djokovic. It's a Tsonga - Djokovic final. I would have preferred to see Tsonga beat Fedex in the final though. It's the end of an era for Federer. I'm so disappointed in him. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by romeo(m): 12:20pm On Jan 25, 2008 |
Don't be disappointed in him!! he took 400,000$ home for playing semi and to me thats some achievement under two weeks |

Re: Australian Open 2008 by DD5: 12:30pm On Jan 25, 2008 |
But hey audacious bet . . . Tsonga to win in 4 sets! This is clearly the end of an era!!! This is the last yr for Fedex to win a grandslam, after this it will be downhill from here. First Nadal on clay, Nalbandian, Tipsarevic, Novac . . . the fear of Federer is gradually disappearing. Others will take courage from this game and feel Fed can now be beaten. Goodbye Fed . . . u certainly gave us 4 most memorable yrs of unforgettable Tennis. . . your name is already etched in gold in Tennis hall of fame. Clay (FO) will certainly go to Nadal, grass (Wimbledon) will also go to Nadal, Djokovic will pick the US open. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by dinozzo(m): 12:33pm On Jan 25, 2008 |
Good game by Djokovic, at long last Federer's been beaten. I hope Tsonga wins this one. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by romeo(m): 12:35pm On Jan 25, 2008 |
Yeah it's Tsonga Time |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by bioye(m): 12:41pm On Jan 25, 2008 |
D__D: I eat my words. I beg to disagree a little. I believe that not only will Federer win another Grand Slam, he will win at least 15 surpassing Pete Sampras' all-time record of 14. Yeah, Federer has dominated Grand Slam tournaments since 2004 winning 12 of 16 Grand Slams. He loses at times(4 now 5) but that doesnt make him less greater. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by DD5: 12:56pm On Jan 25, 2008 |
@ bioye, part of Fed's era of dominance was psychological . . . most players already felt defeated long before they arrived on court. Now every player knows that Fed is beatable. The list of players who can now beat him is growing daily . . . if he wins 2 more slams he'd be very lucky. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by doyindamus: 1:05pm On Jan 25, 2008 |
Dont write off Federer yet. He might not win the usual three slams, but he still has game. To say part of his hold on other player was largely psychological discredits one of the best players that ever lived. But Djokovic looks like the man to beat now. Prior to this slam, I thought his serve was a weak link to be exploited but he looks to have plugged that hole. And he went forehand to forehand with Federer and came out on top in the confrontations. I dont want to get overexcited about Tsonga, but I don's see anything in Djokovic's game to scare him. He is quicker on the court, his forehand is just as fierce and he is superb at the net. if he consistently gets some first serves in, he wins that battle too. If he keeps looking as confident as he did against Nadal------then he really should win. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by DD5: 1:10pm On Jan 25, 2008 |
I agree with Doyin . . . Tsonga is looking more likely to win the final. He will leap into the top 10 if he can hold his nerve to win. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by doyindamus: 1:53pm On Jan 25, 2008 |

Tsonga is on song at the moment but Djokovic??, that guy is something else since defeating Federre last year, everybody even federre knows that Djokovic will be his nemesis well i give the title to Djokovic He is the man at the moment |

Re: Australian Open 2008 by salehm(m): 3:25pm On Jan 25, 2008 |
Federer out Well i think Federer was just too inconsistent thru out the tournament and when his serve let him down, there was not much to back it up well looking 4ward 2 a stunning finale maybe a 5 Set Finale |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by DD5: 5:04pm On Jan 25, 2008 |
Federer's downfall was unforced errors. up 5-3 in the first set, i thot he had won the game only to lose 4 straight games on the bounce. doyindamus: my brother . . . a gold medal awaits us. |
Re: Australian Open 2008 by RuuDie(m): 5:20pm On Jan 25, 2008 |

Re: Australian Open 2008 by RuuDie(m): 1:55am On Jan 27, 2008 |
Sharapova bags it without dropping a set thru-out! Fed might never get 2 break the grand slam titles record. . . . . . . Dis small boys d'ey vex oh! Nadal, Djoko, Tsonga. . . . . Who's next |
