Christ wanted to show just one of the gifts you will exhibit once you accept HIM as ur lord and personal savior. All Christians must be good as bin good is part and parcel of the true christian life but not all good people are Christians. Bin good is a nature of man but many have lost it becos of the sin of one man !Christ used the illustration concerning the good samaritan to show how we are to retain or reconnect back to statusquo. That illustration is only a parable and not a story (TRUE).It did not happen. But even if we say it happened,Christ never said the good samaritan will go to heaven but wanted us as christians to be good to all wether they believe or not.The battle for a place in heaven is between man and the enemy (devil) and not between believers and un-believers. For un-believers,the owner of heaven hav said ''No one goeth to the father except through me'' The holy scriptures said sinners,those who do not believe in Christ will perish and also will not have evalasting life ! It behoves on God to judge Atheist and all other un-belivers alike.But if my opinion is sought on this issue,i will say they will go to hell becos they do not beliEVE.My bible tells me so ! I'm not happy that people will go to hell but that won't stop me from saying the truth. If the good samaritan will be wise like the Canaanite woman who begged Christ for the healing of her demon possessed daughter knowing fully well that she isn't qualified to have the goodies of the master since she is a gentile(unbeliever),but still asked for it. He,the good samaritan will be pardoned and accepted by God.
But for the meantime,ur good deeds won't take you to heaven. Just confess your sins,restrain from them and confess that Jesus died for you, resurrected after 3days and was ascended into heaven.
Believe in Christ and have faith then you will be with HIM in paradise ! Shalom

This is how an atheist reads the situation

The point of this thread is to address if 'good' deeds are recognized by xtian god irregardless of religion. The samaritan's existence does not matter, what matters is your (alleged) Jesus allegedly used that story to show one could get into heaven via good deeds alone. Do you think an 'evil' person could go to heaven?

We know a bad atheist would be beaten at the gates and thrown into hell. I dont think so for the good atheist. Of cause his lot should be better. He would be gracefully and kindly escorted into hell.
