I do not know of any publication giving an outline or layout of the city. I do know that snipets and anecdotal mentions exist of the different parts. A reconstruction is possible from the different pieces. We have seen in art the various Ife crowns but we are yet to interprete their significance to the culture and land. Most of Ife antiquity arts were not intended by the sculptors to be art but rather as repositories of message and customs.....kind of tablet or database preserved with detailed code and steps for a process. However, white people labeled them arts and we just ignorantly fell in and began calling them arts ourselves.

2. the Cosmic order - the Ife gods are deities of the Yoruba cosmos. In other words, our Aries, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and so on. The Greeks in ancient Rome laid out their cities to follow the order and heirarchy of their gods, with shrines and groves and temples and altars at specific intersections and land bearings.....whether it should face east or west or north or south.....or whether it faced seaside or to a mountain. This practice was a Babylonian/Assyrian origin and I will not be surprised that Ife is similarly laid out.

ON Oranmiyan staff, I am yet to find any publication dedicated to its study other than a brief mention in Samuel Johnsons book on the three Hebrew root letters engraved into it. On a peronal observation, I once mentioned that the pattern of the nails on the shaft themselves form the shape of the staff of Neptune (the Trident). Again, Oranyan staff is held to be work of art but its in fact a tablet of information.
