The real perks of working in an oil company is enjoyed by those expatriates execs. First class trips when going on vacation Bullet proof vehicles and escort when leaving the island. Nice houses on the island. Free shipping of personal items from home country. Free driver and fueling of vehicle to be used 24/7 Free importation of foods and essentials from outside the country to meet their needs. Driver, cook and maid at beck and call. These are the real prima donas. |

BlueDiva: The real perks of working in an oil company is enjoyed by those expatriates execs. do you/we enjoy the same things when you/we go to their countries? or do they enjoy those perks only in Nigeria? (role reversal vs peculiarity to Nigeria) |
Re: Oil Workers Zone. by Nobody: 8:53am On Dec 09, 2012 |
yamakuza: They are reasons for all these though. Security concerns warrant the bullet proof vehicles and escorts especially on the mainland. They need to ship in stuffs that they are already accustomed to, fresh milk, cheese, ham, tissue paper etc since they consider ours as not up to standard. An expat from France going to the UK wouldn't need all the perks considering that the UK has all he wants and is safe. Sometimes you can't blame them much, they own these companies. Maybe when we open our own oil companies in the Western world we can afford to give ourselves all the perks too. 2 Likes |

mko abiola: Wrong misconception. You will find all disciplines in the O&G sector. People tend to think only Engineers work in the oil company. French, Yoruba, Geography, English, Mass Comm all have their places there. There are people who work in HR, PRO, Accounts, Admin, Safety, Security etc. Whether, HND, B.sc, Upper or lower you can work there, no big deal. Oil companies are too over hyped down here. |

scantee: yap 1,2,4,6 is ok. With that, u have 85% chances of securing offshore job. But i will advice you, if you want to do HSE, Try to enroll in any centre accredited by those major oil company such as: NLNG,SPDC etc so that you can get familiar with there Job hazards Analysis (JHA codes) because it differs from the one of NISP, and their Policy/ Work statement aren't the same. If you can identify most of their codes, then you can identify most other companies own as well.pls kan u list sm of ds institutes dat are afilitatd wit ds oil coys.tnx |
