You made some salient points about presentation, but I think you went overboard with the criticisms. It would have been nice if you had tactfully put across your points. After reading so many of your comments on the family board, I can tell that tactfulness is not your forté. I have been a silent visitor to this thread for over a year and I can say some of the meals displayed here could have been better presented and in cleaner environs. Yes it is an informal forum but it is nice to do things in a professional manner. I watch a lot of cooking shows and there is a lot of emphasis on presentation and proper sanitary conditions. It is time we start emulating that in our homes.

Here we go, some sandwich- fried eggs with salmon as content and then toasted in the sandwich maker. With a cup of tea. I should have snapped the process as i was making it, but forgot till i started eating and getting ready at the same time.
I love my tea/coffee. At the very least 4× a day

I smh for some comments here, only few people are being sensible.
Of course we all know that presentation is bae, but then there are better ways to pass your message without insulting people's intelligent or throwing tantrum like a kid.
This thread has always been a great one, like one big happy family, we don't know ourselves but we look forward to seeing each other's meal, it creates a kind of bond between us.
Since I followed this thread, I haven't seen someone post food in a dirty environment. Neatness is relative (permit me to use this word and I will explain), you can't compare the level of neatness of a person living in a public compound kitchen with that of someone that have a personal kitchen (with everything all stocked), it doesn't mean that the other person is dirty!
Many people don't go all fancy about food they just want to eat, while some others can go the mile, does that make the other person food bad or dirty? Hell no!
This's just a thread to appreciate and show love for what we all love doing (cooking), even salivate over some meals , there's no basis for comparison, no bleeding reason to throw subtle shades or insult, if we keep going this way, the love in this thread will die, it will be one hell of a boring annoying thread.
If you must pass a message then be matured about it, don't make the thread about you, it's about FOOD

This is good presentation - you see how you kept the swallow to one side and the soup to one side? You see how each part of the meal is in it's place on the plate? Presentation is not about the cost or whether it is a continental/local dish - it is about the appearance.

Some would prefer swallow and soup in different bowls/plates and that is okay too but this is good enough.

OK guys, so I baked cake for the first time in my life. It's my son's birthday and I was so rich that day and he kept reminding me of his cake as is always the tradition. So I decided to try something.

I don't have oven but I have a rice cooker, I looked up on YouTube and yes, trust youtube to have it all. I saw plenty cakes baked in a rice cooker mehn.

So I tried.

First I made a sponge cake and later couldn't contain the excitement and I have this coco powder lying in the cupboard since last year.

So I decided to also make a chocolate cake.


Rate me guys and please if you have a very good tasty birthday or wedding cake recipe that you have tried yourself please share. Never knew baking could be thus exciting.
