UBA paid 1 naira dividend! shocked shocked
Could it be interim + final?
If yes, then they're paying 80k but if its N1, mehhnn, that will be sweet.

I am now expecting between 85k and 95k final dividend.

Although N1.00 dividend won't be bad.

UBA will pay higher than what Afriprud declared

All the fat people keeping their money under mattress, I wonder when they intend making something with it if not now.
Maybe after the earning season sha. lipsrsealed
As for me, I'm seriously considering becoming an investor in near future, reading some encouraging posts here these days.
Wouldnt need to be coming to the market everyday again.

Yes o! February is the making-it-happen month for rallied stocks. Peak of rally the last 3 years has always been in February, meaning the month of taking money off the table! It pays to be cash-heavy going into the month of March so as to cherry-pick rebounding stocks against Q1 reporting. My 10 Kobo opinion, though!

Ghen ghen! cool Cherry-picking mode activated re. mth end/March against Q1 reporting... if you know and cash heavy by now, you know...

So far so good re. results, no shaking apart from mkt being temporarily upset by the coronavirus. And that it's currently being priced in..... Like I said, let this dip go deeper and buy the deeper dip (haven stocks only)...

Blissful investing to all!

If you don't have the temperament of an investor please don't try it. Stick what you have the temperament for.

You can try a blend of both by having another account basically for investment.

Corona was just the problem ... But thank God China is now reporting low fresh cases, other nations are reporting fresh cases though. However, there's hope that the pestilent would soon be handled like SARS and others

Folks, stay on Dividends paying stocks. You will be relaxed getting dividends and still have your capital appreciation.
As price falls and it tends to give you a higher DY, keep buying if you have cash. This was same thing that played out around 2016 - 2017 and afterwards end of 2017 was the game changer. I see that repeating again.
Dividends are yielding more than Tbills. So use your tongue to count your teeth.

Nice perspective....

Re. sustainability of double digit yield, Meffy would do - whatever it takes - to sustain the carry trade for FPIs cos he desperately needs their $ inflow to sustain the FX rate. Reason for his aggressive floating of the 5-year FX futures contract so as to tempt them not to bail out but stay in the mkts since the short-tenored OMO bills are maturing fast. So with the guaranteed dollar rate @ Yr 5 end, the next best carry trade move for FPIs will be the longer-tenored FGN bonds, but the yield is still low for now. So watch out for rising yield - and the rising yield will probably come from CBN's fire-fighting effort to curb the rapidly increasing inflationary pressures (CRR tightening as we are seeing, MPR Hike etc), all these to prevent currency weakness

Re. Global recession, a different ball game entirely o! Folks have been harping on this global recession since 1st year of Trump, but markets still trading near all time highs with occasional sell-offs and bouncing back... The main danger to me re. global mkts, is the uncertainty surrounding the Corona Virus and its intending impact on businesses and economies, going forward. As you know, mkts can deal with good news, mkts can deal with bad news but mkts cannot deal with uncertainties - The scaring point re. global mkts!

But first things first re. our 9ja mkt... the imminent headwinds - Q1 2020 results (incl FY 2019 results of FUGAZ) with sharp eye on oil price movement...

My uncertainty fear then re. downward spiralling on businesses and their earnings going forward... Global mkts scatter big time, but sell-offs will be tempered cos global markets still swivelling with loose funds looking for yield desperately.... How I wish we have gotten our house in order here in 9ja with well-articulated growth-centric policies (like during OBJ tenure) and not these anti-business flip-flopping policies, then over $100b of these loose global funds would have found their way into our mkts seamlessly. Such a pity this PMB socialist-centric admin.... O da capitalism mo!

You are interpreting the market from your biased position.
What if uba pays less than expected dividend.
Zenith dividend yield was above 10% and the price is still going down.
What do you think will happen if uba final dividend yield is less than 10%.
