Symphony007: 54.5 million on a group of people who has already recieved millions from others. Meanwhile their are many orphanages and charities suffering from low funding and many people hungry on the streets. The super eagles are too greedy to say, we've had enough send the rest to charities in our name and this government is too tone deaf to know how to spend tax payers money well, bunch of plonkers!!
Same thing Judas said to Jesus about the perfume, know that story?

Nigeria and corruption, I am not saying the Super Eagles do not deserve recognition, but why are state Governments giving out money, please did their state 2012 budgets make allocation for that? if NO. then where does the state Governor get 54 million from which is not accounted for, that only shows that the different Governors are taking money with out accountability, CORRUPTION IN HIGH PLACES

I have a question for my fellow Nigerians, Is the money given to Supper Eagle by Gov. Fashola taken from the state purse or from his personal account? If from his personal account no problem, but if from state account then, we should ask ourselves of what benefit is the CUP to the state?

Abuse of public fund. If they like, they can give out d entire country to them cos they've done d undoable. mtchew.

What abt Rivers and Akwa Ibom Governors, havent they contributed? Am sure Akwa Ibom cant give anything less than N200 to the team and yet poverty is beddeviling d land.

1) Charity: The NFF are partners with the SOS Children's Village (orphanage) and the Eagles usually donate money to the orphanage anytime they have a home game.

2) Although admittedly I do not know the source of these funds, but I'm against governments paying professional sports people. That is the job of sponsors. The government should concern itself with sports development. It should provide facilities and coaches at primary and secondary schools and also sponsor tournaments for schools. Professional sports can always get sponsors to fund their activities, but school sports and sports development is not glamorous enough to attract adequate sponsorship.

I thought this was Fashola's philosophy too when he declared that government would not fund a revival of Stationery Stores, but would prefer that private investors take up the challenge.

Good. Our reward system favours sports. Wish this can extend many other rather critical areas, etc.

How will Nigeria develop or grow when things like this occur on a regular basis, wastages of national wealth, greedines of the rich class, and unaccountability.
Farah won the marathon olympic gold Medal for Britain and the British Govt only gave him an honour, but we won the nations cup our taxpayers money is being wasted in the name of motivation. The N1Billion wasted on the Super eagles during the World cup has not being recovered and now more is being wasted......God dey watch una ooooo
