Abagworo: I'm usually saddened with the level of reasoning displayed on this forum or elsewhere in Nigeria. Why must we label everything tribal or regional? Nigeria has a population of over 100million while the number of. OPL allotees are not even more than a thousand. How has the ownership of oil wells helped the real Northerners on the streets? What have I personally gained from Tony Ezenna, Arthur Eze, Emeka Offor, Tony Elumelu, Jim Ovia, ABC Orjiakor, Oduah etc even though they are Igbos? Absolutely nothing but oppression of the masses with wealth which does not belong to anyone but all Nigerians. We are deeply brainwshed.

thelastPope: There is a fundamental flaw in this list. What the writer has done is list the companies and the directors. Being listed as a director in a company doesn't mean you own the company. That is very misleading. That is just a list of the board of the companies, not the list of oil well owners. If you are to go by the above list literarily, it would mean IBB is very clean and has no connection whatsoever with oil blocks. It would imply that IBB gave out oil wells to people but never took anything for himself.

I have a company with several directors listed and am not even the chairman of my company. That is how businesses are run in Nigeria.

Those wells are owned by people not listed in those list. Many of the directors listed above are not very rich. If they actually are part owners of these wells, they will be far more richer than they currently are. That's something to chew on. The bottom line is these blocks should be revoked because these guy neither bidded for them nor paid for them.
Hahahahaha. Na lie go kill you.

Okoro2015: While the nothern senators who knew what is at stake quickly turned around and supported the bill they passionately resisted afer Enang spilled the beans, Some mofos are here defending their eternal masters as usual SMH at brazen display of foolery.

Let them keep dancing around. The beans is already spilled. The north is shaking in their boots. The southwest is doing what it has been doing since 1970 which is run their erands.

It is noteworthy that some players register different companies for different acreages, sometimes also with different sets of shareholders. But in terms of operations, it stands to reason that some of these licenses may have expired, been cancelled or are even never operated at all. Also, it is obvious that some of the listed shareholders of these companies are now deceased. Beside all these, that someone is chairman of a company doesn’t make him the biggest shareholder. The case of AMNI credited to former Kano military governor of Kano State, Col. Sani Bello (rtd), is a case in point. “The fact that I am the chairman does not mean I own AMNI. I don’t even have up to 20 percent in the company”, he said.

Now, before anybody accuses me of leaving out some big players let us not forget Atiku Abubakar, whose stakes in INTELs rake in substantial returns for him; Jide Omokore’s multimillion Dollar Atlantic Energy’s “Strategic Alliance Agreement” and Phillip Iheanacho’s Seven Energy etc. These fall within a different category of those who may not be direct field owners yet make stupendous money from the sector.

“Oil acreage ownership in Nigeria does not have ethnic colouration.

The SS people are quite greedy too if you look at them well, first they get a huge amount in allocation, the oil companies located on their soil pay their community leaders a lot of money, all sorts of special previledges are granted them, but these leaders and politicians keep cornering all the money, and many towns and villages don't even have a clinic, yet the village chief go get house for Lekki!
If they can't manage the money they are being given now, do you think they'll use proceeds of oil wells if given to them to improve the lives of average Niger Deltan?

For the records too, most of Nigeria most productive oil wells are not even on shore ND.

A THISDAY INVESTIGATION

Segun Adeniyi in Abuja

Contrary to the claim by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Business and Rules, Senator Ita Enang, last week that 83 per cent of oil blocks in the country are owned by northerners, investigations by

THISDAY have revealed that 88 per cent of the oil blocks are owned by multinational oil companies.

On the other hand, indigenous oil operators or Nigerian companies control only about 11 per cent, confirming the assertion by human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, last week that oil majors control and manage the lion’s share of the Nigerian oil and gas industry.

THISDAY had also pointedly observed that Enang’s allegation referred to only indigenous oil operations, not total oil output in the country.

Investigations also revealed that even among indigenous oil operators, northern shareholders/directors do not account/own 83 per cent of local oil output, as Enang’s list left out several oil blocks that had been awarded over the years to Nigerian companies and failed to include oil concessions awarded from 1999 to date.

A breakdown of oil leases granted operators showed that the total number of Oil Mining Leases (OMLs) in operation by December ending 2012 was 109, while Oil Prospecting Leases (OPLs) stood at 92.

The Federal Government had in 2012 set a production target of 2.48 million barrels per day (mbpd), of which 1.5 million barrels of oil per day (mbpd) were expected from the onshore and shallower water terrain, while deepwater concessions accounted for 900,800 bpd, which are currently controlled by the multinational companies.

Of the 2.48 mbpd produced last year, the entire production by indigenous companies totalled 276,000 bpd, accounting for about 11 per cent of Nigeria’s production.

Among the IOCs, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) produced 605,539 bpd, Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (Exxon Mobil) - 528,000 bpd, Chevron Nigeria - 489,999 bpd, Total Elf - 400,134 bpd, Agip – 98,284 bpd; and Addax - 90,489 bpd respectively.

In comparison, local oil companies led by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), the exploration and production arm of the NNPC produced 125,828 bpd in 2012, Seplat Petroleum - 40,033 bpd, Pan Ocean - 7,387 bpd, while others described as independent marginals produced 102,797bpd.

Virgin Finder: Yorubas are not defending the north. They are only after their own interest.

A reallocation of the indigenous oil wells in the country based on the false and emotional claim that northerners own 83% of them will definitely not favour us.

Other southerners are as hostile to we Yorubas as the northerners if not worse.

Everybody means the Yorubas and we are aware. Its out of sheer envy and inferiority complex.

We only make strategic alliances that will favour us.

The north seems favorable at the moment and they know it.

If a non Yoruba southerner were allowed to reallocate the oil wells, it is the '17%' controlled by Yorubas that will first come his mind rather than the '83%' controlled by the north.

Hence, Yorubas have been speaking out so that those of us who donot know the facts about the oil industry are properly informed so that we donot get too passionate and emotional by Senator Enang's claims thereby aligning with them at our own peril.

I was all for reallocation of oil wells and in full support of Senator Enang's claims.
But with all these rebuttals by prominent Yorubas,
I change my mind.

Good job Adeniyi!
Awolowo did a good job in training the Yorubas to think of themselves first as Yorubas before thinking of themselves as Nigerians.
Now I begin to appreciate why 2015 is such a crucial year for Nigeria. Many Oil block allocations will expire in 2016. With a GEJ presidency,PIB passed, and FOI passed, it won't be biz as usual. The status quo will definitely be challenged. Already the SW-controlled media has commenced the propaganda work.I doubt if anything GEJ does will ever get commendation.
Even if he walks on the river, the SW media will say it's because he couldn't swim.

I like what you have posted, though it is crap. It is at least a confrimation of what we have been saying that the north and south west are attacking GEJ because he is from the minority. They do not believe a Niger Delta man should rule them and would do everything to frustrate him.

The good news is, everything is on the table now so no one is deceived anymore. From here on, its going to be a real power play. You have just justified why GEJ pardoned Alameiseigha and instal

You've been very incoherent.

How can you like crap?
That was a unconscious display of inferiority complex.
Its like saying you like shiit.Damn!

GEJ or no GEJ, Yorubas will never lose out in the power game cos they are equally on both sides.

Besides, what'll you guys do by 2019 when GEJ leaves office?

You can't put all your eggs in one basket.

Yorubas are the smarter peeps here.

I'm proud to be Yoruba anytime anyday.

omo alaro: Some people just hate northerners with passion. Where in all of these did the senator got his 83% from? And he has succeeded in inciting and attracting more hatred for northerners.
Telling the truth is not hating in fact not telling the truth is the real hate. the Honorable senator was conveying the true sentiment of his oppressed constituency of SS at the senate floor on the continued marginalization of his people by those other regions who feel that Nigeria belongs to them to do as they please including resources of the nation.
How is clamoring for HCF a bad thing? Have you guys ever been to the real oil producing communities of the SS? you honestly believe they dont' deserve better? why should any justice loving Nigerian/senator be against the HCF?
The reason for the 83% northern ownership came up as a result of northern senators opposition to the HCF. And you guys should not forget that!!
For equitable Nigerians like me, The opposition to HCF is the real hatred not clamoring for whats rightfully yours, lets not forget that if the majority of oil belonged to either the North,SW or any other region besides the SS. there would not be a all these talks, debates or negotiations, they would have had absolute control of their regional resources. And history proves these, case in point the hay days of Nigerian dependence on agric.

Den u ppl shld invoke d FOI and produce d lists of d oil block owners and stop doin cryin babies. Atleast d Yoruba jav try by xposin abt d company dat own d oil block, wat hav u ppl done?
Nonsense, gullible, sentimental and tribalistic fellows

Even if u are told that Abiola stole ITT money with Obasanjo to become a billionaire, u will still doubt it and demand for proof. If u r told that IBB squandered our future, u will doubt it and demand for proof. But if u r told that Saro Wiwa demanded for bribe from Abacha and that's why he was killed, u will believe n support it with crooked evidence especially if coming from Tinubu or any of ur kinsman.

Please, when this matter is disputed by the pple who know the truth on the floor where it was revealed then we can start to crucify the good senator. Until then, stop this ineffective propaganda, it wont make the Hausa/Fulani see u as their equal. U will always remain an errand boy to them no matter what u do. Stop deceiving ur pple in a bid to give them same sence of pride n euphoria of solomon type of wisdom to tackle these lower tribes that dare to challenge ur intellect. We await a probe into this allegation in the senate before they will sweep it under the carpet as usual. Its no more business as usual. Jonathan said so.

For a senator to bring himself so low to play to the gallery is a shame. Frankly, I'm beginning to question the educational level of most leaders from the south south starting with GEJ to Enang via Oduah

thelastPope: There is a fundamental flaw in this list.

Appears people are scared of touching the empirical nature of this post

Bruv, your post was incisive . . . . . .

django1: The SS people are quite greedy too if you look at them well, first they get a huge amount in allocation, the oil companies located on their soil pay their community leaders a lot of money, all sorts of special previledges are granted them, but these leaders and politicians keep cornering all the money, and many towns and villages don't even have a clinic, yet the village chief go get house for Lekki!
If they can't manage the money they are being given now, do you think they'll use proceeds of oil wells if given to them to improve the lives of average Niger Deltan?
********************************
For the records too, most of Nigeria most productive oil wells are not even on shore ND.
What? given by who? you mean the money from their natural resource? you mean they dont have the right to mismanage their money or wealth? if so tell me what the rest of Nigeria has been doing with its share of oil resources? The SS and ND Has all the right to manage/mismanage their wealth in whatever way they deem it fit bro.

Please keep up with my level, don't drag me down. Crap can still be useful!

If you play on both sides, you will always eventually loose out. Double agents always get fried! But that's your choice so no qualms.

2019 is very far. In the next 2 years, a lot would have happened. Akwa Ibom, cross river and bayelsa are growing faster than most of you realise. You are here on NL talking while these states are growing very fast. It is only Delta that is slow but that will change soon.

By 2019, you will hae a completely different country. That is if Nigeria still exists by then.

Interesting piece worth keeping, at least now we know its an inter-ethnic and trans-ethnic cornering of our resources.

Where is IBB, Obasanjo, Atiku, dangote on the list? If this aforementioned ppl are excluded from the list, it simply point out its irregularities cum credibility of this finding

take dat: Interesting piece worth keeping, at least now we know its an inter-ethnic and trans-ethnic cornering of our resources.

That list is just a diversion from the truth. Enang said 83% is owned by northerners and he reeled out their names. Some of the people Enang mentioned are not even on that list. Reason is because that is a list of the members of the board of those companies as listed by CAC. It is not a list of oil block owners. IBB is not on that list and he owns oil blocks. Abacha family is not on that list.

These are just attempts to distract us from the prize but it won't work. The only good I can see in that list is that it contains a list of collaborators from the south so we know those who have sold us out.
