Politics › Peter Obi Is Unknown In Taraba, Says Supporter Who Went For Field Analysis (Pix) by 123456789O(op): 2:57pm On Feb 19, 2023 |
So I safely arrived my destination yesterday evening and set out immediately to do a field analysis. I wasn't really impressed with the outcome.
I visited the outskirts of Wukari to a community called Hyuku and I was shocked some people I met there doesn't know @PeterObi
This is supposed to be one of our stronghold and support base in Taraba state because it's a Christian dominated area.
I felt so ashamed because it seemed like nothing has been done to sensitize this community for some of them not to know PO.
Obidients, this is a call to activate our strongholds, we must not leave any stone unturned in our bases.
Am certain there are many other communities like this scattered across Taraba central and Taraba north not to mention the entire 36 states of the federation.
There’s a lot of work to be done fam, let’s all move out with all strength and vigor and get it done. It’s a fight to finish and we’re not backing down at this last lap.
For us at @UpNorth4Obi we have flagged off Project #LastDance and we’re currently on it. We’re winning!

Politics › Obasanjo Commends Buhari On Naira Redesign by 123456789O(op): 1:23pm On Feb 17, 2023 |
Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesperson, says former president Olusegun Obasanjo commended President Muhammadu Buhari over the naira redesign policy.
Adesina said in a statement that the former president praised Buhari at the council of state meeting held in the state house, Abuja, on February 10.
“Change was necessary from time to time, and resistance to change is normal,” he quoted Obasanjo as saying.
The former president said the policy would bring a “little bit of sanity into our elections and have a salutary effect on kidnapping and ransom taking, and corruption will be substantially reduced”.
Advertisement “The naira change policy is good, but implementation is the issue. If there’s inadequate supply, let’s have more. If there are unscrupulous people sabotaging the policy, let’s deal with them,” Obasanjo said.
“I’ve experienced currency change at least more than half a dozen times. When we increased feeding In universities from 50 kobos to N1, it led to the ‘Ali Must Go’ riots. Resistance to change is normal, and people will always support, oppose, or be neutral.”
On his part, Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), said the policy is aimed at strengthening the economic prospect of the country.
Advertisement “The policy is not targeted at anyone or group of persons, but rather derived from the analysis to strengthen our macroeconomic fundamentals and better our socio-economic conditions,” he said.
“To make monetary policy more efficacious, increase financial inclusion, support security agencies to combat banditry and ransom-taking, and curb corruption.” https://www.thecable.ng/femi-adesina-obasanjo-commends-buhari-on-naira-redesign-says-resistance-to-change-is-normal/ |

Politics › Riots Break Out In Lagos As Tinubu, Governors Ramp Up Confrontation With Buhari by 123456789O(op): 11:00am On Feb 17, 2023 |
There is gunfire and mayhem across Lagos Friday morning, with reports that an unspecified number of casualties are already recorded as the police say they are bringing the situation under control.
This is coming amid APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and some state governors’ opposition to President Muhammadu Buhari’s refusal to obey the Supreme Court’s order to allow old naira notes to be used as legal tender concurrently with the new notes. Governors Nasir El-Rufai, Bello Matawalle, Yahaya Bello and Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, among others. The governors are urging their citizens to disregard Mr Buhari’s and CBN’s directive.
Peoples Gazette’s checks revealed chaos at Mile 12, Iyana Iba, Ikorodu and Agege, with commuters left stranded at the bus stops and highways.
There was reported pandemonium in Mile 12 market, along Ikorodu road, on Friday as traders allegedly insisted on new naira notes before they could transact business in the market.
Gunfire was also reported at Ketu and Ojo, as a video seen online showed commuters scampering for safety after shots were fired.
Witnesses claimed that scarcity of the new naira notes and its attendant economic hardship was the major cause of the violence across the state on Friday.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson in Lagos, said in a tweet that security operatives were deployed to manage the situation in Mile 12 and Ojota.
“It is true. Our men are there. Reinforcement units have been deployed. Stay safe out there as we closely monitor and manage the situation,” he said.
He added that officials have intervened and motorists can now move freely to their destinations.
“Free movement of vehicles and people fully restored. Our officers and men are still on the ground to prevent any breakdown of law and order,” Mr Hundeyin said in a tweet on Friday. https://gazettengr.com/riots-break-out-in-lagos-as-tinubu-governors-ramp-up-confrontation-with-buhari-over-naira-notes-scarcity/ |

Politics › Nigerians Owe North 4 More Years In Presidency - Ango Abdullahi by 123456789O(op): 4:03pm On Feb 15, 2023 |
Elder statesman and former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Professor Ango Abdullahi, has said Nigerians still owe the Northern part of the country four more years in the presidency.
Abdullahi who is the convener of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), spoke on Wednesday at the ongoing General Assembly and 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Forum held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
He claimed that the North had supported other regions leaders and had “rubbed more backs” for them.
He therefore said those asking candidates from the North to drop their ambition had no right to do so.
This, according to him, is because those Northerners also have right to run for office as many times as they desire.
Speaking, Abdullahi said, “The constitution is very clear that I can stand the election twenty times, and I can lose twenty times. But nothing should stop me from contesting elections if I want.
“Then when you look at it in terms of well, ‘do me I do you’, rub my back and I rub yours, the North has rubbed more backs than its back has been rubbed. Even if you are talking about the years in power from 1999 till date, Obasanjo did eight years; Jonathan six, that is 14; Umaru two, and now Buhari eight years. So, I am being owed even in the number of years, four years.
“The issue should not have been we are not qualified to contest, we have no right to contest. Certainly, this is the reason we are saying now that the issue in the Nigerian political environment, must be based on democratic tenets only.
“There should be no issue of reserving anything for anybody. If you win an election, you win based on this thumbprint. If you win, we will accept.
“But for us to begin to see threats that if this happens, and we do not like it, we’ll do something negative, we are warning that the election will be contested hopefully free and fair, and credible.
“And anybody who wins the election must be accepted as the winner of the election, without sentiments. And if there is any attempt to subvert it, then we’ll be ready to also counter,” he added. https://pmnewsnigeria.com/2023/02/15/ango-abdullahi-nigerians-owe-north-4-more-years-in-presidency/ |

Politics › Atiku Projected To Win 2023 Presidential Poll ― Report by 123456789O(op): 8:35am On Feb 14, 2023 |
A recent report on the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria has predicted that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar will win at the February polls.
The interim report from the nine-month study led by Dr Oludare Ogunlana of June Group Research and Council for African Security Affairs (CASA) with other Intelligence practitioners in the United States, Europe, and Nigeria points to the emergence of Atiku.
It was gathered that Atiku rates higher than other candidates from All Progressive Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP), and New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP), using four key variables: political geography, religion, resources and class.
The study’s scope is limited to observing political actors and interviews with stakeholders in organizations from across six zones of Nigeria and the Nigerians in the diaspora.
These include the likes of political leaders, women groups, religious organizations, civil societies, trade unions, and youth organizations.
“In each interview, we focused on five areas: the personality of the candidates, ethnic influence, religion, power of incumbency, voters’ behaviour, emotions’ role, political socialization, and tolerance of diversity of political views.
“The study that started in May 2022 accurately predicted the outcome of the PDP and APC primaries and the emergence of Alh Atiku Abubakar and Senator Bola Tinubu as candidates for their respective parties.
“We identified where the political influencers, religious leaders, organizations, and Nigerians in the Diaspora stood with voting President in February 2023 and how it aligned to victory for each candidate.
“In addition, we gathered data from facilitated workshops and interactive survey sessions with Nigerian political thought leaders, which include lawyers, political activists, and former and current serving political office holders.
“While we respect various polls that have put a particular candidate as the preferred candidate to win the election, we state that data alone does not speak for itself significantly when such data is based on manipulation and sectional polling.
“The result of every data must be put into context, including understanding the people, culture, pattern, geographical spread of the platform, and historical antecedents.
“In conclusion, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is expected to garner 64% from the three zones in the North, rake 45% from the South-South region where his running mates come from, acquire 37 % from the South-East with 27% from the South-West, which is the stronghold of the APC candidate,” the reports stated. https://tribuneonlineng.com/atiku-projected-to-win-2023-presidential-poll-%E2%80%95-report/ |
