1.Not really. But suspension might not really be much of a surprise to him considering the fact that the powers in PDP had ignored him like a leper for a long time. There's nothing new by "officialising" the so called suspension via a press release.

2.So suspension in this case signals more of what's coming. The option of destabilizing Rivers state to activate state of emergency is not attractive. So, they can't unleash ex-militants on him. The option of declaring his seat vacant should he be finally expelled is equally not feasible. There is a legal precedent (courtesy of Atiku's struggle) that only a court of competent jurisdiction can make such pronouncement. The workable option available is impeachment.

3.If Amaechi has a strong hold on Rivers House of Assembly, then GEJ is messing with himself big time. The end result would just be like NGF election. Despite intimidation, threats and political chicanery, his proxy lost woefully. However, if the ranks of the Assembly Members can be broken via inducement and promise of political portfolio a la 2015 ( a development that can not be totally ruled out), the impeachment ll be fast (not necessarily legal) as seen in many cases before Dariye, Ladoja, Peter Obi.

4.The powers to suspend LG chairman are more vested in the assembly than the Governor. A governor can not remove LG chairman without the approval of the house. A curious twist is the unwillingness of the PDP to sanction other assembly members who supported the decision. Are these honourable members also not PDP members qualified to be sanctioned like Amaechi? They are insulating them largely for a possible future role.

4.Above everything, GEJ is fighting an unnecessary war.In 2015, overall figures may be different but GEJ will win in Rivers State irrespective of who the governor is-Amaechi or Not.

For your info...14 PDP governors issued a warning to the party today on this Ameachi suspension....those Governors are fully behind Ameachi on this matter.

Did Amaechi violate any PDP rule/law which carries the penalty of suspension? If Amaechi did, case closed. Amaechi should learn a lesson from the suspension, regroup and improve upon his political game plan. If he did not see the suspension and ultimate expulsion coming, then he is still a political novice.

i still remember wat OBJ did to Dariye, alams and fayose. His was impeachment. Most of u blabbing here will disown ur kids if u go against ur orders. Rotimi even knows that he is not a threat to GEJ. A manager in an ordinary office would always want total respect and loyalty from his juniors. He would also want to show that he is superior, this is just natural. No matter wat a woman provides for the family, the man would always want to be the head. Does Amaechi know dat GEJ is in the C-in-C. He can command these small Adamus in khaki to go and handle him. Reality and not constitution gave him enormous powers to deal with anyone below him if he wishes and Amaechi is one. U people refused to c that he used his powers as a Gov. to sack chairmen, APC govt. in imo used theirs to sack chairmen and stop allowances due to past office holders. Amaechi refused the advice of pdp elders and was show the way out. WHAT D BIG DEAL?

What is going on? Why are they being so hard on Gov. Amaechi? That governor has not done badly in Rivers State at all. Now that he (Gov. Amaechi) has been kicked out of his political party, he better watch his back o. Nigerian politics is a deadly game.
