This is a scam of the highest order without notifying the general public. I was dumbfounded when I got to their office to top my card and got the message. I was forced to pay 1500 for the service fee of 2months excluding VAT and when I asked d woman, she said “even food whey I dey buy for 150 before na 300 and she then laughed”. At the end I had to pay 5000 as against budgeted 3500. I shook my head and made her realise she's surely going to face the negative consequences coz it's a viscious circle (what goes around comes around). 1 Like |

Its bad enough we don't see the light, thereby extending the duration the unit will last and ultimately, costing us more!! We are being robbed blind!!!! 1 Like |

By June next year, those of us in Benin City will be paying 1,500 Naira as fixed charge. So what are we going to do? Just accept it? We should begin to ask our president to resign. |

This is daylight robbery. A fixed charge should be included only if they are giving the meters free or subsidized, which they are not. Granted they have to maintain the infrastructure and their support organisation even when users are not using their power, but they have enough volume from the 1 million or more users to waive any fixed charge. While this is still better than the arbitrary non-prepaid system, this case should be taken up with Consumer Protection Council (www.cpc.gov.ng). |

750 naira will enable them put infrastructures in place and the price will go down. That money can not even fuel your generator a day, why complain when its meant for a better tomorrow. |

dotunbond: The question now is what can we do to stop to stop this extortion, the rates are getting high and we just keep lamenting cos they know there is nothing we can do. Disconnect your meter and connect directly to source By the time we all do that, they'll review their billing policy |

Buben: PHCN and investors are set to make N1b monthly for doing nothing. PHCN and their new investors have increased the Fixed charge for Prepaid meters from N225 to N500 and now N750. We are told the target is N1000 monthly.. The last time I bought PHCN card was on 29/3/2013 that was 75 units by end of June I was still having 22 units left cos I hadly see light,to my shock instead of paying 1500 service charge for 3 months I paid 1800 being service charge for 2 months at 500 and 1 month at 800 not even 750. I was really mad, why should pay 1800 for someone else inefficiency,if there was constant light I don't think I would stay for 3 months before I exhuast 75 units. God help Nigerians. |
