When I dial the *556# code to check balance, I see Main bal: #***, Airtime: #***, Data:***
But when I do not have enough on the main bal and have over 1000 on airtime, I can't still make calls or buy data. Why is that?

Also the last time I recharged, the money entered the airtime account instead of main balance and as a result I couldn't use the money. Please how can this be resolved?

Good afternoon Mr @JideSM. Please I have a very peculiar issue. I lost my phone alongside my SIM card of 13years old. On getting to the MTN office for my line retrieval, I was told the picture on my profile was that of a lady while all the datas, DOB, address, etc, are correctly mine. Please how can you be of help. I have gone to sworn an affidavit the very same day. I have my National ID Card as well. The SIM got lost on 16/06/2020. Been using it since 2007. I guess it was those road SIM registration guys that committed this very blunder back then where I purchased the SIM. I'll appreciate your help please. God bless.

hello..
I bought an mtn sim some years back ..got capture for registration and all that at a roadside and inserted immediately I got home and I have been using it since then..

Recently I lost my phone with the sim inside.
I picked up the sim pack and my I.d card went for retrieval.To my utmost surprise I was told the information of the sim is not mine ..was even shown the picture and I confirmed it to be true...

I never really notice all this while.Now my problem is that I want to do jamb change of institution and I was told I needed to bring an OTP from the sim..im really confused right now... please how can I go about it...

I have the sim pack with me here...I really need this for my jamb as I already made payment for change of institution and have used the sim to register for a lot of things..

Good day all,

MTN is at their whims again.
First I did a subscription on June 21, 20GB data. I was surprised that in less than a week the data got exhausted. I said ok.
Yesterday I did another subscription for 9GB and was trying to register on some websites, as well as check nairaland and Facebook on PC. To my greatest surprise, 9GB of data dropped to 200+ MB. I complained on the twitter handle only for me to be told it's heavy data usage.
Fellow nairalanders, is nairaland.com a heavy site.
I decided to use the remaining data on phone to just check WhatsApp messages as well as Facebook and nairaland, only for me to see my data is remaining less than one hundred MB.

This is daylight robbery and our useless NCC can't prove these criminal act by MTN.

It's so saddening I may leave my MTN SIM for the next one year without subscription to see if the criminal act will stop.

Write a request for Migration to prepaid and take it to any authorized MTN outlet with a valid means of identification.

I'm on MTN Beta Talk and I've been having issues with the billing on my plan. Since last month, I noticed that I'm being billed from my main account instead of my bonus account, even after the first 60 seconds of the day. I equally noticed that some times, the billing is arbitrarily done (on both main and bonus) in one call. Also, I noticed that whenever I make long calls, the billing is on my main account instead of my bonus account (and this should not be so, since the first 60 seconds of the day has been billed and I still have money in my bonus account).

I've complained several times to customer care and each time they tell me that the issue will be "escalated" to the technical department but the issue keeps repeating itself on a daily basis. It's become pretty annoying because I don't see the reason why I will have money in my bonus account and still be billed from my main account. What then is the essence of me being on Beta Talk?

Please do something about this asap.

I could take a wide guess that you fell for the Betatalk scam because of the so-called bonus.
Guy, forget every you write for up there, nothing you talk fit change how den go bill you. Besides, the Betatalk talk call rate no be here
Just chill for one soft plan like xtraspecial (15k/sec) and give yourself rest....forget all those bonus...na scam!

So, an MTN subscriber in Yola whose 4G phone did not come with band 20 cannot get 4G service on his/her phone. It's not fair.

Hi Daaz, I am really sorry for the delayed response. Normally, the Betatalk billing on your first 60seconds call is made from the main airtime, from the second minutes, billing continues from the betatalk bonus. However, this will be looked into. May I have your phone number through email message so that it will be checked. Thank you.

My phone has band 7, but am not getting 4G LTE. This must mean MTN 4G LTE in Yola is on band 20.
