80% of The Nigerian Air Force Fleet currently active no questions. That's an impressive feat considering where we are coming from over the years especially as recently as 2015 when it was at 30% something BHT intellengstia exploited at the height of the insurgency (though it's moles in the system continue to exploit existent gaps and or periodic maintenance of assets). This capacity across board in our Military gives us a head start over our bitter domestic enemies and sub-regional rivals.

You are yet to answer the question of your nationality. You are no different from others with multiple monikers masquerading as Nigerians—fake Nigerian. They want to tell us what to do when they can't even "clean house".

Just look at why u'd love Nigeria! Even a T.oad can see between the lines and judge u're only an external observer not blood. Nigerians know the working of their country not to bait an eyelid over the irony of your pic. Right or wrong politics never stops playing in Abuja which in many cases is oblivious to the suffering of the masses. Tell us something we don't know like maybe the high rate of murders in your country.

NAF SHOWCASES NEW RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT BREAKTHROUGHS AS AIR FORCE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY GRADUATES 257 STUDENTS

The Nigerian Air Force has recorded more Research and Development (R&D) breakthroughs, which were showcased during the 47th convocation ceremony of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Kaduna yesterday, 27 July 2018. The projects included a prototype Oleo-Pneumatic Shock Absorber for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), an Automatic Solar Tracking System and a Rocket Launcher Circuit Test Box. Others were a prototype of Light Weight Helicopter, an Unmanned Hexacopter as well as the adaptation and installation of BO-105 Helicopter guns on the Bell 412 Helicopters recently handed over to the NAF by the Federal Government. The convocation ceremony also featured the award of diplomas and degree certificates to 257 graduating students comprising 102 NAF personnel, 2 Nigerian Army personnel, 3 Nigerian Navy personnel and 150 civilians.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Barrister Boss Mustapha, who was the Special Guest of Honour, was taken on a guided tour of the exhibition stand for the new R&D breakthroughs. During the tour, he was informed that the Oleo-Pneumatic Shock Absorber was designed and produced by AFIT students, using entirely locally sourced materials. The system has been comprehensively tested and would be used on UAVs that would be subsequently produced by the NAF. Furthermore, the Automatic Solar Tracker was designed by AFIT students to maximize the harvest of solar energy while the Rocket Launcher Circuit Test Box was developed to test continuity in rocket launchers in aid of maintenance activities on NAF’s fighter aircraft.

The SGF and other dignitaries were also briefed that an R&D Team from AFIT had also successfully weaponized the Bell 412 Helicopters by adapting the guns that were procured in the 1970s for the now de-commissioned BO-105 Helicopters. Two pods, comprising 2 guns each, have already been installed on one of the Bell 412 Helicopters and successfully test fired, both on the ground and in the air, thereby saving the nation considerable foreign exchange that would have otherwise been expended in purchasing and installing new guns. Another significant breakthrough on display was the multipurpose Unmanned Hexacopter, which was designed and constructed in-house by a team of AFIT staff and students led by Flight Lieutenant Nkemdilim Ofodile. The Hexacopter, which was again successfully demonstrated yesterday, is designed for both military and civilian applications such as aerial surveillance, mapping, policing operations and pipeline monitoring, among others.

Speaking during the ceremony, the SGF expressed delight with the giant strides made by the NAF in the areas of human capacity development and R&D. He commended the NAF leadership for the progress in AFIT, especially the synergy of effort between military and civilian institutions. He noted that this type of synergy exemplified one of the policies of President Muhammadu Buhari, which is to create indigenous technological capacity in the military and civilian spaces in Nigeria towards engendering joint research efforts. He noted that AFIT was well positioned to continue to provide a pool of qualified manpower that would ensure sustainability of the Nigeria Air project. He then charged the graduating students to aim to be globally competitive and gear up to conquer the world.
Earlier, while declaring the convocation ceremony open, the Chairman of the AFIT Governing Council and Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, specially thanked President Buhari, for assenting to the Bill, which effectively transformed AFIT to the status of a degree awarding university. He equally thanked the National Assembly for the passage of the Bill. He noted that there is the need for private sector participation with a view to mass producing the R&D products to enable the nation maximally benefit from NAF’s R&D efforts. In his welcome address, the AFIT Commandant, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Cletus Udeagulu, thanked the SGF for accepting to grace the occasion and also appreciated the CAS for being the focal point of support that had enabled the Institute to record such remarkable achievements. He further revealed that the Institute was poised to commence degree programmes with effect from the 2018/2019 Academic Session.

Heads of other academic institutions as well as the Executive Secretaries of the NUC and NBTE delivered goodwill messages during the ceremony while prizes were presented to the best graduating students in the various departments. The event also featured the ground-breaking ceremony of the Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar Way, which would serve as the new entrance to the Institute.

Underwater Helicopter Escape Training. SAAF.

That's an extremely important exercise overlooked, ignored actually by laymen. In the mid 80s a Puma went down in our largest dam,Kindaruma. IIRC,5 guys got out but 3 or 4 didn't-there are 12-15 foot crocs. The worst single day SAS loss happened in a routine Sea King cross deck from the HMS Hermes to HMS Intrepid in the Falklands war. All survived impact but most succumbed to drowning and hypothermia.

Twenty members of the elite unit were killed when their Sea King helicopter lost power and plunged into the freezing South Atlantic after a freak collision with an albatross.

Mick Williams, who is still haunted by the horrific events of May 19, 1982, told how the helicopter dropped from a low altitude and then filled with water as its windows smashed on impact with the sea.

https://www.businessinsider.co.za/south-africas-largest-3d-printer-is-so-big-that-it-takes-up-to-r75-million-in-titanium-powder-to-fill-it-2018-7

South Africa has the world’s biggest 3D printer

"South Africa’s biggest 3D printer is also the largest in the world, and could print a full-sized adult man using titanium powder - although it would be very expensive.

The printer, designed and built as part of a collaboration between Aerosud Innovation Centre and the CSIR’s National Laser Centre in Pretoria, uses titanium powder to build its custom-made products. It was funded by the Department of Science and Technology.

3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, involves melting a single layer of metal or plastic together, and fusing it to a layer below. With this manufacturing technique, it is in theory possible to build very complex objects.

Demand for 3D printing is high in industries like medical prosthetics and aviation, where clients need a small number of complex parts made out of high-value materials like titanium.

The machine can print parts up to 2m x 60cm x 60cm, says Marius Vermeulen, programme manager at Aeroswift. But it is very expensive - to fill the machine with enough titanium powder would cost in the region of R7.5 million - so the engineers made sure that the machine could also make smaller parts, allowing them to focus on producing parts to customer specifications.

"One client is AHRLAC (which stands for Advanced High-performance Reconnaissance Light Aircraft), which is using Aeroswift components in its planes. We are supplying South African parts from South African machines to South African aircraft,” says CSIR National Laser Centre commercialisation manager Hardus Greyling.

But using the giant printer to produce parts is not the end game for the Aeroswift team: they want to build more printers. “The current machine was built with a dual goal: produce parts and do R & D,” Vermeulen says. “This machine was over designed to allow us to do everything possible. It is a beast. The next machines will be cheaper and built for industrial use.”

So they are producing two new machines which will be dedicated to producing 3D printed titanium parts. They aim to have them complete in the next two years."

Moi Air Base Hosts M-pesa Foundation Academy Students

Kenya Air Force today held a mentorship program for the M-Pesa Foundation Academy students at Moi Air Base, Eastleigh.

The students were received by Major Wafula Nasong’o who took them through a video presentation showing various activities carried out in the Kenya Defence Forces in order to achieve its mandate as a security organ in the country then proceeded to elaborate more on the mandate, roles and organization of the Kenya Air Force.

Major Wafula highlighted the requirement for joining the Kenya Air Force and gave a break down of the different ranks in the service.

“In order to join us, one is required to be a Kenyan Citizen, they should be medically and physically fit, have the age bracket of 18-26, they should also acquire good grades, especially in Mathematics, English and Physics” said Major Nasong’o.

He challenged the boys and girls to work hard in their academics if they intend to join the military after their secondary education. “Smart students will be able to secure the careers that KAF offers during recruitment, “he added.

In the end, Major Wafula urged the students to work hard and ignore the notion that only those who do not excel in their academics join KDF.

The students later had an air experience, after different pilots took them through the different types of Air crafts used by KAF and their roles during operational activities performed by the Kenya Defence Forces. The students expressed their gratitude having a first-hand experience with military aircrafts.

Among other mentors during the auspicious platform were Captain Dennis Mgweru, Lieutenant Kerubo Orina, and Lieutenant Catherine Ngaine.

Slightly O/T but still very very relevant! Early this year or late last year a Syrian woman in Aleppo told Al Jazeera of giant beings fighting for ISIS eating dead civilians lying in the streets. I thought it was shock from months of the most brutal warfare that overwhelmed her skullspace software and didn't ponder it much. I've searched and can't find it on the 'net, however as most of you know Syria like all wars was also a testing ground for new weapons .

In late 2016 the Syrian ambassador to the UN spoke of giant Genetically Modified Soldiers fighting for ISIS. Early 2017 he repeated the same allegations blaming them for murdering evacuating ISIS allies in Aleppo when they attacked their buses.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PMnYlQWEGo

Which is why its no coincidence Putin said
genetically-modified super soldiers ‘worse than a nuclear bomb’ could be a reality
RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin claims genetically-modified soldiers ‘worse than a nuclear bomb’ could soon become a reality
https://www.news.com.au/world/vladimir-putin-says-geneticallymodified-super-soldiers-worse-than-a-nuclear-bomb-could-be-a-reality/news-story/5caf06957ff78e98002bb98ff87f943e

Imo,this is real and the war is deeper than a testing ground for new missiles,Fullbacks and Sues.
