OK I have started to notice that I am no longer growing as fast as before so I guess its time I start working out with weights as I seem to have hit my peak growth from body weight exercises.

The catch 22 is that I have a full time 7-6 job so going to a gym is ruled out. I want to have either dumbbells or barbells I can use in my workout at home.
I have gone online and all I can see are these sissy looking chrome weights which I instantly dislike.
Where can I get real weights that aren't chrome or do I have to meet a welder?
are u sure you have hit peak growth doing body weight ? body weights can be fun and made harder if u can do advanced variations. have u see gymnasts they don't use weights but still get bulk and can move. Try out calisthenics you could check out barstarzz, barbarians or Hannibal for some motivation.. I like body weights because it doesn't make u mechanical like those who lift weights all through... you can try out some of these advance variation of pushups : handstand pushup using the wall for support then when u are bad ass u do free handstand push up, tiger bend pushups and pseudo planche push up... thank me later.

Stay away from supplements. Apart from not having any proven benefit, they are a waste of money (being qiute expensive as most would know), and can actually be harmful, especially the very high protein and/or steroid containing supplements.

am sorry but thats a very ignorant assertion...lol...did u even proof read this shit u wrote? dude steroids are steroids but if u want us to bliv dat whey or creatine supplements are "unproven" of having any effects in d body then u sir, are a slowpoke....lol...seriously?everyone is an expert on the internet these days...

Oshey, my kind of thread...
Calisthenics enthusiast here!
Calisthenics- body weight excercises e.g push ups, dips, inverted rows, pull ups, leg raises, squats, lunges, calf raises e.t.c (for those who don't know d meaning)
Been working out for 4 yrs now- since I was 15, but not frequently, only started working out seriously bout 6 months ago.
Best decision I ever made.
Presently focusing on strenght, I can do one arm push ups, l sits ,hand stand push ups backing the wall(harder smiley),bent arm planche(not yet good form though) and one legged front lever(can only hold for bout 2 seconds). My goals for this year is to achieve the full front lever(hard),back lever(also hard),human flag(very hard), planche(super hard) and one arm pull up(if u can do this u deserve to be dining with gods).
Role models: bar brothers, frank medrano(super human) and brenden meyers.
Any other calisthenic enthusiats here?

Move?.. Explain
I meant to say Movement...movement as it is can't be defined..every one moves but the question is how well are you moving. how well can you coordinate and dominate your body, what patterns can you make with your body can you go from a hand stand to a planche? can you flip? crawl? and invert?. Most people just pursue aesthetics and not mobility and functionality

although ido portal said some dumb shit in the interview, he said "aesthetics is reverse engineering, its engineering your body in a way its not meant to and in the end it would just leave you unfulfilled and empty".....
dat doesnt even make sense .
aesthetics means beauty.
working out for aesthetics means doing it for the beauty benefits, what does that have to do with 'reverse engineering' ?

You don't understand that's why you see it as poo..its reverse engineering cause you are neglecting what is important which is functionality and mobility and just focusing on just building a nice body. our ancestors where good movers that's why we are still alive today..they ran after prey, ran from predators, climbed, walked long distances and squatted for seating.

Some people who just focus on aesthetics just have the muscles and definition but can't even do a handstand, flag or planche its so bad that some can't squat or maintain good posture.

Funny enough when you engage in movement practices you are able to get that good body plus your functional... Movement will live you with things that will last you an life time compared to just aesthetics...your bar brothers, barbarians, barstarzz etc all do movement in form of calisthenics and they have got skills and can create patterns with there body...they are beyond aesthetics.

You want to learn planche, human flag etc if you just focus on aesthetics ( working the body just for definitions, abs, triceps etc) I bet you won't learn those moves.

Be on the MOVE.

please no your body type first I.e endomorph, mesomorph, ectomorph and then you know your weight and then you can research on the kind of workout best suited for you don't go taking supplements unnecessarily. At times to get big all you need is to eat big and eat right.

Jamesdman:

Bro.. i think all of your issues is really a single issue, YOU WANT TO GET BIGGER THAN YOU ARE RIGHT NOW.
To acheive that you need to get:
1) Get registered to a program at the gym.
2) That program most definitely would include lifting heavy weights, which would be increased progressively.
3) You would have to work every part of your body with weights, you would do bench presses, squats, dead lifting etc
4) The intensity would increase as well, you might start from a beginner level, to intermediate, and then to advanced level. Each varying in the intensity of the workouts.
5) You would have to pay attention to what you eat. You would need to eat like a giant before you become one. Your meals should be highly proteinous.
6) If you can lay your hands on steriod-free supplement, you would need to use them.
7) As an alternative to supplements, i would suggest you use tom brown. It's made locally and is highly proteinous, it's made with fried soya beans, groundnut, maize, millet etc. I was introduced to it by the guys in the gym i first trained. These guys are quite big, one is a professioner judo fighter and trains like hell. He uses just tom brown. When making it (tom brown) i suggest you add a tin of full cream milk, it increases it's richness.
After all said... getting bigger is all about eating big and training till you bust!!!

where can i get this tombrown?

3. Be consistent, the results won't be overnight...

4. Introduce supplements to compliment your diet
