I drive a 2001 RX 300 which i think drives pretty well (it is very reliable).

I observed that after driving around for over 20 minutes, whenever put the gear in reverse/park/neutral and put it back in Drive, i hear and feel a jerk from the rear of the vehicle before it makes a forward movement.

A mechanic (not a lexus mech though) mentioned that it isn't much of a problem as the car still drives well (although i'm not comfortable with driving a car that jerks when the D gear is engaged ). Could someone please help ascertain what the issue could be? Does any part of the rear axle need oiling or what?

Longed for one for years, got in one today and the thirst increased. I don't see a lot around and folks seem to have them for sale after being registered.

Question: are there any peculiarities to this car?

Is it worth all that Wad in terms of durability and performance?

Is it a problematic car?

Sorry for the late reply. I got from the US directly or just go through eBay or amazon.

However, you need to be sure your car is compatible with it. Like in my case (2004 lexus RX330 with factory navigation) the kit was not fully compatible cos the air con controls are operated from the navigation screen. When I installed it, it worked but I lost control of my air con controls. And if the air con comes up the car kit won't work.

I emailed the GTA guys on this issue and requested for a detailed electrical schematic diagram of the lexus radio and navigation layout. They however responded and apologized about the issue but stated that the kit do not work with that model with factory navigation. Don't know about other years though. By the way they offered a refund, I however decline and opted to keep the kit.

If your car has factory navigation with inbuilt climate control, forget about the GTA kit. What I use is a modified tape player that you connect with your phone and I receive and make calls through the car speakers and play my favourite jazz on the go.

The modified magnetic tape cassette with cable to plug into your phone cost around N1k and the production is excellent.

Ok, but if the kit isn't compatible Witt your car why not sell it to me

Buy it. Its reliable, durable, cute and its only downside is iys size which bigger people wount fit into.

Only one poor Lexus sends out all this codes? The Lexus is really sick, no wonder it's consuming fuel like water.

When last did you check the lubricants/lubrication on the axel and wheel bearings?

Sir,thank you for timely response.During wheel alignment 3 weeks ago i complained to the the filling station mechanic who checked the axel oil and said it was lighter.He then then convince me that i should change the oil to to the thicker one sold in the (MRS fILLING station)station.I bought the oil he changed the axel oil in my presence but the sound still persist after 3 weeks of oil change. Pls what is wheel bearing?

It is always adviceable during lubricants changes, to only use manufacturer recommended lubricants to avoid tales that touch.
Wheel bearing - Is the hub attached to your inner wheel, Wheel bearings enable wheels on a car to spin freely and stay secured to the car.

While driving and the howling noise presents itself, turn ac off, wind your glass down and listen out attentively to the side the noise is coming from.
That's your faulty bearing and not forgetting manufacturers recommend lubricant. It's normally adviceable to change both bearings(assuming the bearings are the guilty culprits). But change one if the economy is not friendly.

People own S class, 7 series A8 audi in Nigeria and i see no reason why you cant own a Lexus LS which is much more reliable than the trio.

If you are going to own an LS430, the best seat is at the back!!
The V8 is a joy to behold. Don't skint on maintenence, and you would enjoy it!!!!
