spade:

If you're talking about "Top of The World" here, that doesn't count, as D'Banj was merely contracted by the AFCON organizers to sing a song which he neither wrote, has rights to, nor can accept any awards under.

Also, need I inform you stage acts at events like AFCON, World Cup or Olympics are organized by the CREATIVE DIRECTORS themselves and not the artists?
Are you aware Stephen Spielberg was initially the Director of the Beijing Olympics before pulling out due to political reasons?
Are you aware Danny Boyle (director of Slumdog Millionaire) was the creative director for the London Olympics?

Artistes have no power over their stage acts at events like the aforementioned, as the entire thing is planned by the creative director! So, saying D'Banj performed what-what in South Africa is off the question cuz the act was simply staged by the creative director. And as I even remember, all D'Banj did there was sing while being carried around by a crowd.

Where artistes DO have power over, however, are their personal concerts, tours and random gigs like this one!

And please, take note, this isn't even the first time he's crashing and burning. His Koko Concert from Dec 2012 was also an epic failure, in addition to his Texas 'concert' as well.

Omo, the guy na bonzo abeg. Just tell yourself the truth grin
then ,go and kill yourself bcoz of skibanj!! He is still d best!!

The Code: I dont even know what dbang was thinking when he decided to leave jazzy cos of kanye and his good music label. For a musician like dbang, jazzy is the salt, he (dbang) is the soup. kanye and his foreign teams are sugars. forget the temptation, sugar doesnt make soup sweet. jazzy dey feel am cos u cant lick salt alone. then dbang's music keeps sounding funny with these sugars cos they cant make his type of music sweet!! Even if dbang go feature Nas, Lil wayne, Andre 3000, Eminem, Jigga, Ross, etc., all in one track, he would still sound off! Jazzy is the producer that understands him and has been good at transforming his vapid lyrics and noisemaking into something in the semblance of enjoyable music. without them reuniting, jazzy may keep managing with wande while dbang keeps leaving craters all over the place with each successive crash that environmentalists would raise a red alert!! jazzy is his socket size and if they dont get back together he may keep having partial contact till he blows his fuse (and k-switch own too) :|
see u,u are deceiving urself!! What impact did don j play on kay switch?? ...kay switch was nobody in mohit! But he became sombody when he met jay sleek and deevee!!

Dear, my story has a link which leads you to a website. And the story on the website was wired from a ZIMBABWEAN news source.

Would you like me to post the news directly from the Zimbabwean website where the people praised Bebe Cool and bashe D'Banj?
Note: They were all Zimbabweans for that matter.

You chaps need to learn there is a BIGGER world outside the phucking Lagos media hype.

D'Banj went to Zim; and obviously seeing he had no faith in the songs he made after his split with Don Jazzy, decided to play those old ones; and STILL disgraced himself grin
Jay Z is nit americas best rapper but we alll knw is worth.Get a life dude,Dbanj can buy ur whole generation!

Spadey you too much jor, I'm lovin your combacks 101% onpoint grin

Going through the posts on this topic, its easy to understand why we're in the rot we're in today. Bottom-line is, a lot of Nigerians celebrate mediocrity and are very good at azz-licking. So because someone is rich and powerful, then he's above criticism right? We must accept whatever rubbish he throws in our faces because he can 'feed our families' right?

In saner countries, if a film or music is about to be released. Critics review it and are allowed to rip the work to shreds if that's what it deserves. Here in Nigeria, it would be called beefing-Let the critics go and create something better- they would say.

Its with this mindset that our politicians are using to rob us bling. They will steal your cow and give you little pieces of meat knowing how happy and satisfied you will be by it. Just like dbanj and his likes are continuously assaulting our ears with crap they call music knowing people out there will bow to it. Unfortunately for them, the African audience is starting to know better.

D'banj fans, nobody is hating on your god, but he has been below par of recent. Its only if you want to lie to yourselves that you will want to deny this. And if anybody wants to refute this, I hope to see reasonable arguements (with links) not 'dbanj can feed your entire family' line. Its lame abeg.

grin This is the point I've been trying to make!

The Nigerian audience really has a long way to go as far as sophistication is involved.
These narrow-minded people think they're doing their hero a favour by attacking people like us blindly, not knowing they're actually his biggest enemies, cuz they continue to DECEIVE and LIE to him on how well he's doing, even when his discography has been utter garbage since 2011!

When you give them a reality check, all they've got is 'D'Banj can buy your destiny! D'Banj can buy your mom! D'Banj is worth more than your state's entire GDP' like that has ANYTHING to do with the flaming turd he throws at our eardrums. They cease being fans, and become deceitful sycophants.

Will Smith is worth 215 million dollars, but that didn't stop his summer movie "After Earth" from detonating at the box office and getting battered beyond recognition by critics. But had this been in Nigeria, people who tell you this would be heckled relentlessly, and tagged "haters", "bad-belle people" and even "bigots". So shameful!

You needed to see the way the angry Zimbabweans took D'Banj to the cleaners on their blogs, calling him an iidiiot with only 2 songs they can remember, and in that case, undeserving of a spot in that concert. I wonder why these clowns on Nairaland can't go there and also list to them the number of cows and wheelbarrows D'Banj can afford.

Anyway, they will continue to deceive themselves while I keep stating nothing but the raw truth.
And that's a fact that will forever stay unchanged.

Spade na wa o. Why did you have to do this to deluded D'banj fans? They still think he's the best thing since kunu. Notice how all their arguments end with 'he's richer than you' 'he's more popular than you' 'he's not a musician but an entertainer'(the ridiculousness of this one...). Please, Kokomonsters, Bow wow is famous, but there are school teachers in Nigeria that are richer than him, Majek Fashek was once rich, but he's wallowing in a slum now, Eedris Abdulkareem used to be big in Nigeria, now he's struggling to make a come-back. D'banj is NOT better than any of the above mentioned. A man who can't have a decent performance, can't sing or rap to save his life and can't even dance is NOT an entertainer, we can easily replace him with Iyanya and Burna boy(at least they can sing). Eja nla should just go and open a CD shop in Alaba and start up a carpentry shop for that his noisemaker brother

Till today, na only 'Oluwa is involved' I don hear from K-switch(off) and the senselessness of that song is unrivalled. Vic O na celeb for Kswitch side. Bros I take Olodumare beg you, ejo, if people dey list musicians don't even think of K-switch, those kids that sang 'JOY JOY JOY' are even more famous than K-switch.

Just like the 90% of Nigerian artistes, D'Banj is one of the most wackiest. He'd probably make a 2nd in my Nigeria Hall of Shame. There's no Sophistication nor originality in Nigerian types of music and it still amazes me how the teeming audiences roll with them. Whenever I point out to pals that D'banj just like Psquare, Davido, even Wizkid to a large extent all lacks unique lyrical creativity and content, that it's only and sometimes the instrumental beat that propels them, I get the reply sort of like the ones posted by D'banj zombies. I think the whole Nigeria entertainment industry is just like someones footnote "In democracy, people get the kind of governing they deserve". In an entertainment filled with varieties of mediocres, the audience deserve any jester performance launched at them.

BTW
Spade, what do you think of DaGrin. I think he's the most sophisticated artistes if compared to the likes that are presently afflicting our radiosphere. What's your assessment of him?
Re: Uganda's Bebe Cool Outshines D'banj At Zimbabwe Beer Festival by Ishilove: 4:24am On Nov 04, 2013
spade: The scales are starting to fall off the eyes of the other Africans as well, and D'Banj's musical vapidness is exposing him seriously.

This dude has proven he's completely powerless without Don Jazzy's beats, as even the songs he went to perform at that concert were all the ones he made when he was with Don Jazzy. What? No Oyato? No Bachelor? No Finally? Of course he realises those songs themselves are garbage no one would pay money to listen to, which is why he still goes back to his vomit from 2 years ago to dig up songs he made back then.

The truth now stares at everyone in the face that, without those beats, nothing, and I mean NOTHING, separates D'Banj from Vic O.

Your stage performance goes a long way in determining what kind of artiste you are; and when that day comes, no amount of fake, caked-up, phoned-in, paid reviews from New York Times will save you. No amount of Lagos hype (the same shhhitt that wants the world to believe clowns like Davido are talented) will save you from the inevitable shame.

And this is even the clown people were juxtaposing with P-Square.
P-Square sef, although they are lyrically vapid themselves, are super-talented stage performers. Filling out STADIA in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Ghana, South Africa, Rwanda etc. While this praying mantis dey here dey deceive himself grin

No amount of diversionary tactics will erase that bitter fact.

No amount of lamentations will turn back time.

And most importantly? No amount of useless childish insults from a wretched, degenerate vulture carcass like you would ever have any effects on me grin

Talking about being broke. This is someone you don't know, haven't met, will never know, and will never meet! Yet you insist on making a fool of yourself here grin

this is an unfair generalization, that ALL Nigerian artistes are empty? Haba! Have you forgotten the likes of Bez, Tu face, Praiz, Darey, Waje, Naeto C, Tiwa Savage, M.I, and these are the ones based here. I don't even agree that P-square have vapid lyrics, when you think of songs like 'No one like you', 'More than a friend' 'Omoge mi' 'Am I still that special man' 'Ifunanya' 'Bye bye' 'Forever' 'Say your love' and many more, I doubt you'll think of their lyrics as wack, the only reason some say those guys are wack is cuz they're listening to 'Personally' 'Alingo' and 'Chop my money' their most recent songs.
