Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, has described as an abomination, any attempt to politicise the Ojude Oba Festival. Speaking at the festival on Thursday while reacting to the chants of supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), whose members also displayed brooms at the festival, Awujale expressed his displeasure with the action, stating that the festival was about culture and tradition, and not politics. Senate President Bukola Saraki, alongside a few other lawmakers, had attended the event. Saraki, a special guest of honour at the event, arrived at the venue on Thursday, and was pictured paying obeisance to the Awujale. Reacting to the chants of “APC! APC!@ which emerged from a small crowd at the festival, the Awujale said: Ojude Oba is over 100 years [old]; what you did today has never happened before. Many groups are here but what you have done today has never happened. “I believe most of you are not members of the APC. We have people from the Peoples Democratic Party, APC, and Social Democratic Party, among others, here. “Ojude Oba is about culture and tradition. It is non-political. It has been like that since our forefathers started it. It is an abomination for anyone to drag politics into it. “I want to appeal in the name of God, such an act should not repeat itself here. Those people who hired you, if they are bold enough, they should show their faces.” – saharareporters Source: http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/08/shout-of-apc-at-ojude-oba-festival-is.html

Controversial, cannot aptly describe top Nollywood actress, Empress Njamah. From Timaya to her rumoured marriage and some other unsavoury things which have been written about her, she has been seemingly trailed by one controversy or the other. Despite all these distractions, Empress is one hell of a star. And she’s been around for a while. The dark-skinned, starry-eyed, all-feminine bomb exploded unto the scene in 1995 and since then has been able to hold her head high in the industry. Of course, whatever she lacks, she can always dig deep into her veins to bring out from the genes – because acting runs in her family. For the actress, an ex who wasn’t good for her is definitely not good for a friend, this much she revealed to Potpourri in a chat “An ex remains an ex and true friends remain true friends and we ride into the future. We don’t have any business with the past. Ex! If he was not good for me, why would I recommend him to my friend?” she said when asked if she could recommend an ex boyfriend to a friend for marriage. Buhari claims Nigerians economy were worse off. President Muhammadu Buhari has said members of the opposition cannot fault the efforts his administration has made in its three major areas of focus, namely security, economy and the fight against corruption. According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President spoke on Thursday in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, while hosting some state governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, some federal and state lawmakers and state commissioners to a lunch. Buhari said he would continue to do what he was expected to do in the leadership position God had given him. He said, “We are always encouraged when all our constituents are happy with the work we are doing and our genuine efforts to make sure that what we campaigned for in 2015 is still very much in our minds and we have not lost focus. “In terms of security, economy and the fight against corruption, we have maintained focus. Even the opposition with all their resources cannot fault our identification of Nigeria’s priorities and the efforts being made to better them. “We will continue to do what we ought to do in the leadership position God has placed us and we thank the constituents for the support.” On the defections within the major political parties, the President reiterated his earlier position that he wished them well. “For those who have decided to change camp for whatever reason, we wish them good luck,” he said. The President said the combined efforts of defectors and their backers in the opposition would not distract his administration from the good work it was doing for the benefit and development of Nigeria. He stressed that the ruling party had the full understanding of Nigeria’s challenges and was encouraged by the support of Nigerians in addressing them. In his remarks, the leader of the delegation and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Rochas Okorocha, commended the President on his efforts at keeping the nation together. The feat, the Imo State Governor said, had been achieved through Buhari’s visionary leadership. He noted that the President had remained focused and unshaken by situations and circumstances. “This shows that your administration is approved by God. “We are here to encourage you to keep doing what you are doing as Nigerians are very pleased with you. “We also want to inform you that we had wonderful and peaceful Sallah celebration across the country because of security of lives and property you have guaranteed in our nation,” Okorocha told the President. Okorocha was accompanied by the governors of Katsina, Kebbi, Kano and Niger states. You’re surrounded by corrupt people, PDP replies President Contrary to the claim by Buhari that he was fighting corruption, the Peoples Democratic Party has alleged that the President is surrounding himself with people who have corruption cases. It therefore said that the claim of integrity by the President was questionable. It further described the claim by the President that opposition could see that he was trying as an admittance of failure. The main opposition party insisted that the President had failed in the three cardinal promises he made to Nigerians when he was campaigning in 2015. The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, who spoke with one of our correspondents in an interview in Abuja, also debunked the claim by the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, that the performance of Buhari’s government was satisfactory to God. He said, “Here is a President who is surrounded by corrupt people, people who have corruption cases hanging on their necks. Where then is the much-touted integrity of the man? “If you claim not to be a thief, but you are surrounded by thieves, you eat with them, open your doors for them and play with them? Are you not supposed to be worried? “Where then is the integrity? Every suspected corrupt person is becoming your friend. Everyone being tried for stealing and corruption is wining and dining with you. Then you say you have integrity. President Muhammadu Buhari has shown Nigerians his friends and we now know the kind of person he is.” Ologbondiyan said the President could not have sincerely claimed to have succeeded in the fight against insurgency and revamp of the economy as well. Also Read: Heartbreaking as Generator Fumes Kill Woman, Her 5 Children including New Born Babies | Photos In the area of insurgency, he said the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan was able to restore normalcy to the North-East, adding that this was responsible for the ability of the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct elections in the zone in 2015. He said, “The President has indeed failed in the three areas he promised Nigerians. The indices before Nigerians testify to this. “He has not solved any problem at all. He made the promise that he would fight insurgency, fight corruption and also revamp the economy. “The PDP government has fought insurgency to the extent that elections were held and results declared in all the local government areas in North-East by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The outcome of the elections made the commission to declare President Buhari as the winner. Today, some areas in the zone have been taken over by insurgents.” On the economy, he said Nigerians were worse off. “Interest rates have gone up. Banks no longer have the capacity to grant loans. The lending facilities handed over to this government by the PDP government are all wiped off. “Today, there is no middle class. So, where is the said performance? When he is rejected by Nigerians next year, he will go to his village, regretting that he has disappointed the people who elected him to serve them.” Your govt has increased poverty, unemployment – ADC Disagreeing with Buhari’s claim, the Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Chief Okey Nwosu, said it was unfortunate that Buhari had converted the exalted office of the President to a “lie manufacturing plant.” Nwosu, whose party has been endorsed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, said statistics from every credible organisation and even agencies of government showed that poverty and unemployment had worsened. He further stated that the crisis in the Middle Belt had reached unprecedented levels under the Buhari administration and it was therefore deceptive of Buhari to claim that he had effectively tackled insecurity. The ADC chairman said Transparency International had exposed Buhari’s anti-graft war for the sham that it was and subsequently urged the President to focus on improving the lives of Nigerians rather than propaganda. Nwosu said, “Buhari has turned the Presidency into a lie manufacturing plant. He has no right to evaluate himself. It is Nigerians that are supposed to assess his performance. However, the facts speak for themselves. Under Buhari, poverty and unemployment have worsened. “He claims to have effectively tackled insecurity but every day new IDP camps are springing up. I recently returned from Borno State where I saw IDP camps all over the place. “Even the agricultural revolution he boasts of is also false. The Middle Belt which is the food basket of the nation is in crisis, no thanks to herdsmen. So, how can he say life is better under his watch?”...Read More http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/08/no-opposition-can-fault-my-efforts-in.html

The John Kayode Fayemi (JKF) Centre, founded by Ekiti governor-elect, Dr Kayode Fayemi, says the on-going recruitment exercise by the Ayo Fayose administration is illegal. The state government had said 2,000 workers made up of 600 Secondary School teachers, 400 Primary School teachers and 1,000 core civil servants would be employed. But the Director of the Ado-Ekiti-based JFK Centre, Mr Biodun Omoleye, warned applicants against buying the employment forms. He accused the outgoing governor of deliberately exploiting jobless youths by asking them to pay between N500 and N1, 000 to obtain the employment forms. Omoleye alleged that Fayose was only recruiting members of his ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in flagrant violation of extant rules. “Fayose knows that such recruitment will be cancelled by the incoming administration over the illegality that informed the exercise. “It is unlawful and wicked to play to the gallery by singling out only PDP members for recruitment “This is a clear breach of the law that prohibits political consideration in civil service recruitment,’’ he said. He urged applicants to disregard the employment exercise and wait till October when the new government would take over and make public his employment agenda...Read More http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/08/fayemis-camp-blows-hot-over-fayoses.html

Around 400 gay people in Ghana will reportedly take part in a gay ‘cure’ therapy forum in the country. The attendees, who have all allegedly signed up voluntarily, will receive ‘counselling’ and ‘reformation’ at the anti-gay conference, which has the theme: “Exploring the myths surrounding LGBT rights. The National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values (NCPHSRFV), which is running the forum, said in April that Prime Minister Theresa May’s pro-LGBT+ speech to Commonwealth leaders was part of a Western plan to reduce the continent’s population. PinkNews reports that the leader, Moses Foh-Amoaning, said that the “400 men and women voluntarily surrendered themselves and registered with the coalition to undergo a sexual evangelism programme recently.” The event will take place in an undisclosed location in the country. Foh-Amoaning then announced plans to open a ‘Holistic Sexual Therapy Unit’ at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra which will also attempt to ‘cure’ queer people of their sexuality, according to the state-owned Daily Graphic. He said that religious leaders and people versed in ‘traditional medicine’ would ‘treat’ people alongside medical staff. He also revealed plans to make the law, which currently criminalises homosexuality with a maximum prison term of three years, force queer people to undergo gay ‘conversion’ therapy. Foh-Amoaning said that “a bill known as ‘Who is on the Lord’s Side’ will then be introduced in Parliament for subsequent passage into law. “We will make our punishment corrective instead of punitive.” The head of the NCPHSRFV has a long history of anti-gay campaigning, having previously insisted gay people shouldn’t have rights and that pro-LGBT+ activism was a form of neocolonialism. Foh-Amoaning has also stated that “the anus was not created for cex” and compared it female genital mutilation. His group campaigns against any political party which supports homosexuality in the country. In 2015, he said that churches would end up being “dominated by homosexuals” if the clergy didn’t stage a “blistering crusade” against homosexuality. The law lecturer said the “dormant posture” of the Ghanaian clergy would see the “houses of God being ruled by evil homosexuals.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/08/about-400-gay-in-ghana-to-be-cured-of.html

Odo-Oro-Ekiti, a community in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, was on Monday thrown into mourning as its traditional ruler, Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin, was stabbed to death by a mentally deranged person. Some residents, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria, said the traditional ruler was stabbed with a knife by a man suspected to be insane after a meeting of the traditional council. A resident, Mr Henry Olu, said the assailant was from the same royal family as the slain traditional ruler. Olu said the assailant was earlier seen before the council meeting sitting on the throne and was chased away. The monarch was stabbed by the assailant while he was attempting to enter his vehicle after the council meeting. “All we heard was a cry for help from the traditional ruler’s driver shortly after the council meeting. On getting there, we saw our traditional ruler in a pool of his blood with a knife in the chest. “We tried rushing him to the hospital, but Oba Ogunsakin gave up the ghost,” another resident, who does not want his name mentioned,” said. NAN reports that some irate youths in the community took to the streets in search of the assailant who was said to have fled into the bush after the incident. The youths mounted roadblocks on major junctions leading into the community while the search lasted. It was gathered that there was panic in the community, with its market deserted as the news of the incident filtered. The Police Public Relations Officer in Ekiti, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with NAN. “It is true the incident actually happened and policemen have moved in. The person alleged is of unsound mind and he actually escaped into the bush after committing the crime. “Our men are combing the bush to fish out the suspect. All I can say for now is that the suspect is within reach and will be put in custody,” he said. The late Ogunsakin ascended the throne in 1986. Kano State Governor, Umar Ganduje has challenged his predecessor, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso to launch his presidential campaign in Kano. Ganduje stated this Sunday at an empowerment programme for women held at the Government House, Kano. The Governor declared that the people of the state will vote en masse for President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019. He said: “We have the right to reject him at wish, we have already rejected him. We never considered him from day one, as a presidential material. We shall continue to maintain our position about him. We know nobody but President Muhammadu Buhari. “We, the great people of Kano, as he is aware, will use every democratic way possible to reject him (Kwankwaso) and show him an exit from political participation, even before the general election comes our way. “We had fire outbreaks in some of our markets and this man did not care to come and sympathise with the victims. “We raised a special committee that was given the responsibility of finding the remote causes of such disaster as well as given the mandate to collect contributions so as to alleviate some of the sufferings of the victims. “We included as a member of the committee, somebody, a staunch follower of Kwankwaso. But this man didn’t allow that person to participate in all the meetings of the committee. Neither did he send a penny as his contribution. “Somebody will just wait somewhere telling his people that they should stay clear of anything about Kano. Is this how you want lead people? Where is the concern? “Kano people, I am asking you, does this man really has any concern for you and your families? All we are saying is, in whose interest is he doing all these things? This man doesn’t have, even an iota of feeling about Kano people, at all. “Because he knows that he is not welcomed in Kano and he will be never be welcomed, that was why he chooses to stay away from our dear state and go somewhere, other places, not Kano, and be launching his unorganised and unpopular campaign. “Kano is solely for Buhari come 2019, not any other person. That is why we said we are waiting for him to come to Kano and launch his campaign. We shall use all democratically accepted ways and say No!” PLEASE READ MORE>>>http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/08/buhari-ganduje-spits-fire-dares.html Kindly Visit: mcebisco.com.ng

Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal has affirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari is still being faced with health challenges. Tambuwal stated this while addressing thousands of youths and students who stormed the Governor’s Office on Wednesday. The Sokoto Governor also accused a cabal of running his (Buhari’s) government, noting that Buhari’s integrity was not all that was needed to run the country. Tambuwal said, “We supported Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 to become President unconditionally and we admit that Buhari has integrity but that’s not the only requirement for leadership. “We are aware that the President is affected by serious challenges of health and is being held captive by a cabal that runs Nigeria for their personal interests.” Buhari, sometime in 2017 faced a major medical challenge that saw him spending the better part of the year outside the country. Meanwhile, Tambuwal has earlier declared that he had been under tremendous pressure to join the 2019 presidential race. Political leaders of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District in Akwa Ibom state on Wednesday visited Governor Udom Emmanuel to reaffirm unflinching support for him ahead of the 2019 general elections. According to them, they were men of integrity and have, therefore, decided to pitch their tent with the Governor whom they said was an epitome of integrity. Speaking during their visit, Chairman, PDP, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Cletus Eshiet told the Governor, “We are here this morning to have a chat with you, not just as our Governor but also our leader and to reassure you that Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District is intact. “We want to reassure you of our earlier commitment to stand with you; to ressure you that as far as Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District is concerned, there is no shaking.” Eshiet said, in view of the recent defection of the Senator representing the district at the national Assembly, Godswill Akpabio from the PDP to the APC, their visit to the Governor to reaffirm their unflinching loyalty and support became imperative. Also speaking, the National Legal Adviser of the PDP, Emmanuel Enoidem, told Governor Emmanuel, “We have come not just to greet you as our in-law, but to reassure you that we in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District stand solidly behind you and that come 2019, we will return you as the Governor our great state.” Enoidem noted that in their team were party members and leaders drawn from the 10 local government areas that make up the senatorial Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district. “If you check, you will see that the founders, the operators, the managers and all the people who make things happen in the party (PDP) are all here with us; meaning you have nothing to fear. “Because you have come to Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District to choose the deputy governor, we have decided to throw our weight behind you.” On his part, the former deputy Governor of the state and another party stalwart from the zone, Obong (Dr.) Chris Ekpenyong said he had to rush out from an earlier engagement to join the train, just to demonstrate one point to the Governor, “We stand with you. Nothing spoil. No shaking. Don’t be afraid, the storm will be over very, very soon. Come 2019, we will win the election and win it decisively”. The former deputy governor said it was a taboo in Annang land for an in-law to be betrayed and that was the more reason they have decided to support Emmanuel that they are men of honour and integrity and that all their commitments and reassurance to the Governor, come from their heart. Speaking in similar vein, Senator Emmanuel Ibok-Essien told Governor Emmanuel, “These are the generals in their respective units LGAs, wards, and units and as such there was nothing to fret about. Using a local proverb, Ibok-Essien said, it was unheard of in Annang land where an in-law is betrayed. “We are not ready to die so, we’ll stand with you and if death comes, we’ll die with you.” For the Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo (MFR), the people of Ikot Ekpene placed a premium on integrity and as such, they have decided to stick with the Governor. He told the people, “I have worked with this man (Emmanuel), and I have no regrets. I believe in him because he is a man of integrity. The Deputy further told Governor Emmanuel to stand still. It’s a storm in the teacup. It will soon be over. “It’s a foregone conclusion that 2019 of victory for the PDP, but a year in which God is going to show His glory.” The State Chairman of PDP who also spoke at the occasion said ”I can see the generals and the confidence they displayed and I know it’s PDP and PDP and PDP.” Governor Emmanuel, while responding, thanked the team for their visit and assurances, saying “to whom much is given, much is expected as such I will reciprocate this gesture and overwhelming show of love and support.” PLEASE READ MORE>>>http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/08/2019-we-are-ready-to-die-with-you.html Kindly Visit: mcebisco.com.ng

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr. Mahmood Yakubu on Wednesday defended its proposed N242 billion budget for the 2019 election before Senate Committee on INEC. TheNewsGuru (TNG) reports that at the 2019 general elections budget presentation, the INEC Chairman acknowledged that it was the first time that the budget is presented in this manner. “For the first time, this budget is subjected to scrutiny by the National Assembly and the Nigerian people. I am happy to be a part of this process,” he said. The INEC Boss said that as at Saturday, the commission registered 12.1 new voters. “Adding this to the 70 million voter register, we have over 80 million registered voters. In 2015, we had 70 million registered voters. As of last week Saturday, we now have over 80 million registered voters. “There is a difference of N69 billion in the budgets of 2015 and 2019. All major activities are pegged against the total number of voters. “In 2015, we had only 42 political parties. We now have 91 registered political parties eligible to take part in the 2019 general elections. “The cost of logistics is also different in 2019 as opposed to 2015, because the pump price of petrol in 2015 is different from that of 2019. This will also have an impact. “With the increase of voters, we will have to increase the number of voting points. And with the increase of voting points, we will also have an increase in Ad-Hoc Staff. “We have provided a line-by-line explanation and account of this budget to the Distinguished Senators,” the INEC Chairman said. TNG reports Chairman of Senate Committee on INEC, Senator Suleiman Nazif, after the defence, gave an opportunity for all members of the Senate Committee to ask questions. Here are some highlights of the Senate committee meeting with the INEC chairman: “Continuous voter registration is of great importance to Nigerians. Without which you cannot excercise your right to vote. Mr. Chairman, in the 2018 budget, we made provision for this process and I believe that this funds are supposed to run till the end of the year.”- Senator Suleiman Nazif. “Mr. Chairman, in item 39, you have budget N5bn+ for this continuous voter registration. Mr. Chairman, if you were provided with funds in the 2018 budget, why is this provision repeated?”- Senator Suleiman Nazif. “The electoral act demands that we continue voter registration. Based on the budgetary provision in 2017, we could only do PVC registration at the LGA level.”- INEC Chairman. “By the end of the Second Quarter of 2017, we had over 1400 registration centers across the country.”- INEC Chairman. “The funds we had were not adequate. This is why in 2018, we approached the National Assembly for additional funding.”- INEC Chairman. “The Electoral Act Amendment has been going back and forth between the National Assembly and the President. What would happen to the provisions of the Act that have been budgeted for if it is not signed by the President?”- Senator James Manager. “Your contingency budget provisions have been cut down. I am surprised that you have decided to cut this down to only 2.5% of the budget. What informed this thinking?”- Senator James Manager. “If the Electoral Act is not signed into law, we will continue to operate within the ambits of the law as it exists.”- INEC Chairman. “Even if the Electoral Act is not signed into law, we need to continue to improve our electoral process to promote transparency.”- INEC Chairman. “Why is our contingency low? If it had been 10%, it would have been considered too high. Now it is 2.5%, it is too low. However, there are some contingencies that we need to expect.”- INEC Chairman. “There is a conflict of request here: from the letter presented by Mr. President and the budget presented by INEC. You are asking for N189billion, meanwhile Mr. President is asking for N140billion.”- Senator Mohammed Hassan. “The President is saying that the additional N45billion will be requested for in the 2019 budget. You are asking for N189billion. Which of these requests should we focus on?”- Senator Mohammed Hassan. “There is no conflict in the letters. If you add up the requests by the President and INEC, they add up. The sequence of disbursement is up for the legislature and the executive to decide.”- INEC Chairman. All Progressives Congress (APC) Senators, Monday night, met with the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, in Abuja. DAILY POST had exclusively reported that the 8pm meeting was called by Senate Leader Ahmed Lawan (APC – Yobe). Lawan sent a text message around 1pm to those expected to attend the parley. The agenda was on sacking Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu from office. No fewer than 30 private, and mostly tinted vehicles, dropped off the lawmakers at the venue – a house in Aso Drive, Abuja. The same location was where the APC lawmakers converged hours after last Tuesday’s seige at the National Assembly. The first Senator to arrive at about 7:49pm was Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who was driven in a Toyota Prado SUV with a covered plate number. Senator Lanre Tejuoso arrived in a Toyota Tundra truck at 8:03pm, while Senator Yayi Adeola arrived in a Sequoia SUV at around 8:15pm. An aide to a lawmaker backing the Senate leadership told DAILY POST on Tuesday that although the meeting was deadlocked, there were talks of going on with the impeachment plot even if it falls short of the required two-thirds. He said: “The meeting was renewed onslaught, they are ready to achieve this illegality by hook or crook. “The plan is to impeach Saraki and Ekweremadu by any means and whatever objection that would be raised concerning whether or not such removal was illegal would be argued in court. “Already, the national chairman has brought four state governors on board – two from North-west, one each from North-central and South-west. “They are to work with the Senators, take care of funding and also convince some others still sitting on the fence to join the project”. Oshiomhole had on Friday vowed that the party will work for Saraki’s impeachment “in accordance with the law”. Meanwhile, 49 Senators of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have written to Saraki, informing him of their vote of confidence in his leadership. However, Mike Ozekhome SAN, a human right activist, has warned the APC against disrespecting the constitution. The constitutional lawyer noted that the “1999 Constitution requires at least 73 senators” to impeach a sitting Senate President. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said its personnel on internal security operations in Zamfara State have killed scores of bandits terrorising the people of the state. The bandits were killed in Sububu Forest, Birni Magaji and Rugu Forest following air strikes and helicopter gunship attacks on the stronghold of the terrorists. NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, who made this known in a statement, said that the air interdictions and reconnaissance missions against the bandits were carried out in quick succession between August 9 and 11. Daramola, in the statement, said: “The Nigerian Air Force Air Task Force (ATF) for Operation Diran Mikiya has notched up another series of successful operations against armed bandits in the northwest of the country. “The successes were recorded in recent air interdiction and armed reconnaissance missions conducted from 9 to 11 August, 2018, resulting in the neutralisation of armed bandits in Sububu Forest, Birnin Magaji and Rugu Forest in Zamfara State. “The attack at Sububu Forestwas executed in the afternoon of August 9, 2018, following the discovery of a bandits’ hideout within the forest. Earlier in the morning on the same day, the ATF had conducted a coordinated clearance operation involving NAF Special Forces at a suspected armed bandits’ camp on the outskirts of Galadi in the northwest of Zamfara State. During this operation, the bandits were discovered to have vacated the camp and dispersed into the nearby Sububu Forest. “Consequently, the ATF dispatched a combat aircraft for armed reconnaissance to seek out and destroy the bandits. The aircraft subsequently spotted a large number of bandits within the forest and neutralized them. “Similarly, on August 10, 2018, a combat helicopter on a reconnaissance mission spotted a group of bandits, armed with automatic weapons and mounted on motorcycles, at a location about 6km northeast of Birnin Magaji in the eastern part of Zamfara State. “From all indications, the bandits were advancing for an attack on Birnin Magaji. Accordingly, another helicopter gunship was scrambled to provide additional combat support. Both helicopters effectively engaged the bandits and neutralised many of them. “Furthermore, on August 11, 2018, the ATF conducted another successful attack that neutralised bandits at RuguForest. The mission was initiated based on credible intelligence that a location on the fringes of Rugu Forestnear Ajia, in the eastern part of Zamfara State, was being used by the bandits as a logistics staging area for the supply of arms and ammunition. Accordingly, a fighter aircraft and helicopter gunship were dispatched to attack the location within the forest. Upon arrival over the objective, several bandits were seen on motorcycles. They were attacked and neutralised in successive strikes by the two aircraft. “Operation Diran Mikiya, which commenced on July 31, 2018, is an intensive air operation aimed at locating and neutralising armed bandits with a view to stopping killings, cattle rustling and other criminal activities in the North-West. The NAF continues to solicit useful information from the general populace to facilitate the success of the operation.” PLEASE READ MORE>>>http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/08/many-killed-as-naf-fighter-jet-bombs.html Kindly Visit: mcebisco.com.ng

The Big Brother Naija Double Wahala show might have come to an end, but the show is far from over, going by what the former housemates have been up to outside the house. Some of the former housemates have maintained a steady appearance in the public eye perhaps to strengthen their claim to fame after the show while some other housemates seem to be taking it slow. Some of the former housemates, BamBam and Lolu, were over the past weekend, pictured with the daughter of the acting president of Nigeria, Kiki Osinbajo, at a recent event. The obviously excited BamBam posted several pictures on her Instagram page with the daughter of the number two citizen of Nigeria. A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has revealed details of what happened in the party when President Muhamadu Buhari reappointed Rotimi Amaechi as Director General of his 2019 re-election campaign. The former spokesman of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (N-PDP) narrated how forces in the APC swiftly moved against the Minister of Transport. In a statement sent to DAILY POST at the weekend, Eze recalled that Amaechi’s appointment on January 3, 2018 “marked the strongest indication that the Nigerian leader would seek re-election in 2019.” He said: “Immediately after the announcement of Amaechi’s appointment, those who didn’t want him as DG went to work to ensure that it was reversed. “Some APC stakeholders reportedly opposed to the re-appointment of Rotimi Amaechi as President Buhari’s campaign Director General in the 2019 re-election bid moved into action. “They argued that as a sitting governor and chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) when he held the position of Director-General of the Buhari Campaign Organisation in 2015, Amaechi had enormous power which is not so now that he is just a member of cabinet. “The move against Amaechi as the president’s campaign DG is being anchored on a narrative that the position should be held by a serving governor. “But they failed to understand that majority of APC governors, ministers and members of the National Assembly were already working with Amaechi to advance the re-election of Mr. President. “One of the reasons Amaechi is being opposed is this rumour that he has a presidential ambition in 2023 and that as Buhari’s campaign manager, he would leverage on the connections. “The struggle of Amaechi retaining his office as the DG of Buhari Campaign Organisation was laid to rest on 1st August, 2018 when he conducted President Buhari round the proposed Campaign Office in Abuja. “Although, in the unfolding scenario, Amaechi’s major concern is to prospect for Buhari’s re-election, yes, an encore, yet the possibilities of a repeat performance of the 2015 victory are great and likely to be pervasive, other things being equal. Otherwise, the situation may be dicey. Nevertheless, Amaechi is certainly a rampart for effective prosecution of Buhari’s re-election battle.” PLEASE READ MORE>>>https://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/08/2019-details-of-what-happened-when.html Kindly Visit: mcebisco.com.ng

YBNL signee, Viktoh, is yet to strike gold like his close friend, Lil Kesh, in the music industry and people are fond of reminding him of his ‘misfortune’. During the week, he had an open confrontation with a social media user, who tried to ridicule him. In an attempt to fight back, he became very offensive and wished the young man a miserable death. While speaking with Sunday Scoop, however, Viktoh, stated he didn’t intend to be abusive until the young man called his late mother an unprintable name. He said, “The person said a couple of things on my page, including abusing my family and my mother. My mother died in 2009 and I cannot take an insult to her from anyone. I am a very quiet person and everyone knows. People always say celebrities don’t reply to comments on social media but I always take my time to reply my fans. I think people want to take that for granted, forgetting that I am human too,” he said. According to him, he is yet to get over his mother’s death as she was his closest friend. He said, “It has not been easy coping without my mother because I was always running to her whenever I had issues. She died after an illness; I miss everything about my mother. But my dad is still alive.” Viktoh also rubbished insinuations that he is jealous of Lil Kesh’s success. “Lil Kesh, who is a big artiste today, is my product. I discovered Lil Kesh on the streets of Bariga, Lagos. I am happy I did something good for him and I am proud of what he has become today. People may say different things about us but we treat each other like brothers,” he said. Admitting that things have not been rosy for him in the music industry, he noted that he was not ready to give up. He said, “I believe God’s time is the best; I cannot rush things. Yes, I want to be a superstar but if I don’t walk in line with God’s plans for me, I might lose everything and live a life of regret. I still have enough time and my style of music is still relevant. Quitting music means I am a coward and my late mother would not be proud of me. The fact that things are yet to fall into place for me doesn’t mean I should quit music. I am done with my studies at the University of Benin but music is what I love. I cannot quit; I will just keep working hard,” Viktoh said. The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State has deepened as over 1000 of its members in Agbarha-Otor Ward in Ughelli North Local Government Area Friday defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The decampees specifically joined the PDP from over four factions of the APC. They said the PDP umbrella can cover them, stressing that APC’s broom has been sweeping away their blessings in Agbarha-Otor Ward. The various factions of the APC, who were led by Messrs Moses Amrenorenore, Adayusu Onokurhefe, Moses Ogegere, Edowor Akponovbe and James Efenedo amongst others, described APC as a “deceitful party”. The decampees, who spoke at a grand reception organized by the PDP in Agbarha-Otor Ward, lamented that they have been suffering politically within the APC Agbarha-Otor Ward. The decampees also said, “All the promises of APC in Agbarha-Otor Ward, we’ve not seen anyone from National to Local Government level. We’ve not seen any of APC development project in Agbarha-Otor Ward. We cannot continue to stay in the dark. “Today is a day of change in PDP in Agbarha-Otor politics. That’s why we said no: All the APC members in Agbarha-Otor and our leadership, everybody said enough is enough. That’s why we dropped the broom to join the umbrella. Let the umbrella cover us.” The PDP Local Government Area Chairman, Comrade Lawrence Agbatutu received and welcomed the decampees into the PDP fold, stressing that the party’s umbrella is big enough to cover everybody. The All Progressives Congress has again launched a serious attack on the Senate President Bukola Saraki. The All Progressives Congress on Thursday lambasted the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, calling him a traitor, betrayer and a man unfit to hold a public office, Punch has reported. The party’s renewed attack on Saraki came in a statement by the acting National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr Yekini Nabena, in Abuja. According to the ruling party, the position of the Senate President is one of the highest political offices one can attain in every democratic country and it is a position usually reserved for the best, experienced and exemplary politicians who by their character and conduct in public offices, serve as role models for the younger generation. The statement reads, “In terms of exemplary personage, the reverse is the case in respect of the current Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, who has been a dismal failure and has been involved in one controversy or the other: budget padding, filibustering, legislative rascality, sabotage of matters of national interest, among other criminalities too numerous to mention. “Having suffered under the 16-year misrule of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr Saraki will go down in our country’s history as the worst Senate President Nigeria has had the misfortune to have. “Since his usurpation of the coveted seat, achieved through a wicked conspiracy with members of the opposition PDP, it has been from one controversy to another: the code of conduct trial for false declaration of assets; conspiracy with his deputy to fraudulently alter the rules of the Senate; and links to the deadly armed robbers who wasted many lives in the Offa robbery attack. It is alleged that some of the robbery suspects were his political thugs used to rig elections. A common adage says, “Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are.” The party argued that all over the world, the leadership of the legislature was provided by the political party with the majority members but Saraki took advantage of the absence of many members of his former party – the All Progressives Congress – to conspire with members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party to emerge Senate President and, in the process, traded off the position of the deputy Senate President to the opposition. The APC described the alleged trade-off as “a political betrayal and treachery even the devil would be envious of.” The party decried Saraki’s continued occupation of the position of Senate President even after he had dumped the majority party to join the minority. It said it was not surprised at what it called the Senate President’s greed, selfishness, treachery, disregard for protocol and constituted authority. The statement further read, “A traitor will always be a traitor, however the time and place. The Senate must do everything possible to put Dr Saraki where he rightly belongs – the back seat. He is definitely not a fit and proper person to preside over the country’s upper and revered legislative house. “A man who betrayed his father, sister (many times), his party the PDP in 2014, the APC in 2015 by conspiring with the opposition PDP senators to emerge Senate President, APC administration by sabotaging the executive and defecting to the PDP in 2018 has no character, principles, values and integrity.” It said Saraki would dump the PDP a second time if his interest was not served, alleging that such a man was not interested in the Nigeria of our dreams. When contacted, the Special Adviser (Media) to the Senate President, Yusuph Olaniyonu, said, “We can’t descend into the gutter with these characters. Apparently they have not recovered from the shock of their Tuesday’s failed attempt to subvert democracy.” PLEASE READ MORE>>>http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/08/saraki-will-go-down-in-nigerias-history.html Kindly Visit: mcebisco.com.ng

Media personality, Layole Oyatogun has taken to her Instagram page to pen down a message directed to people that can’t tell their close friends they have body odour. Read her thoughts below; ”Let’s talk about some PAINFUL truths today- BODY ODOUR. You are a wicked friend if you cannot tell a close friend he or she has body odour. STOP giving them perfumes and deodorant sprays hoping to mask the stench, tell them the truth…. in a nice way. It is better you tell them than let the world continously mock them behind their backs. I attended an event some days ago and sat beside a group of friends. As soon as one of the girls walked to the restroom, her friends kept on talking about how she stinks and none of them could tell her. They all kept mum the moment she joined them back on their table. FYI- People who smell sometimes don’t know they do. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso chapter, on Wednesday commenced a two-week warning strike over what they called poor funding of the university by the owner states. The institution, DAILY POST reports, is jointly owned by both Oyo and Osun state governments. ASUU in a statement jointly signed by the duo of Comrades Biodun Olaniran and Toyin Abegunrin after its congress on Wednesday declared that LAUTECH chapter of the union had gotten approval to embark on the warning strike from the national body of the union. They said despite the Memorandum of Action (MoA) signed between the union and the Governing Council of the University after its eight months old strike last year, government of the two states were reneged on fulfilling their own part of the deal. They maintained that the two states headed by Senator Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo) and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) only paid one out of the eleven months salary arrears owed the workers. According to them, “On 13th February, 2018, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) LAUTECH Branch Ogbomoso signed a Memorandum of Action (MoA) with the Governing Council (GC) of the University. “The signing of the MoA led to the suspension of the 8 months old strike on the 17th February 2018. One of the fundamental clauses of the agreement is the promise of the GC that ‘it will ensure that the governments (of Oyo and Osun states) will be made to be responsive to their legitimate responsibilities (funding inclusive) to the University’.” “The GC also promised to work out the modality of paying salary arrears, promotion arrears, earned academic allowances (EAA) as well as paying monthly salaries as and when due. Out of eleven months salary arrears owed, only one month had been paid. “The payment of monthly salary had become dwindling since May and nothing had been paid on promotion arrears and EAA. The Union observed these reneges of the MoA on the part of the GC and the University administration and several correspondences were made to the duo of the University administration and GC to call their attention to the implications of reneging on the MoA. “It is worthy of note that most of the time, the GC do not reply our correspondence to it and whenever it does, the message has been ‘bear with us until the University finance improves.’ The latest of such correspondent to the GC was on the 5th July, 2018. No reply was made on this correspondence. “Reviewing the MoA, the union observed that the situation in LAUTECH is not improving because the Visitors to the University are not responsive to their financial responsibilities to the University. The situation becomes unbearable to members of ASUU in LAUTECH, who are being owed 10 months salaries among others. The branch sought and obtained permission to embark on two weeks warning strike from National Executive Council of ASUU. “The ASUU LAUTECH branch is on two weeks warning strike due to poor funding of the University by the owner states government. Let the owner states remember the masses and give them their social right”.
