SportsEPL: How Manchester United Failed To Sign Chelsea Midfielder by 14Ebiscoo(op): 8:47am On Sep 14, 2018
Manchester United could have signed Ethan Ampadu five years ago, even though he was still 12.

Former United boss, Alex Ferguson, saw the potential in him back then and was keen on bringing him to Old Trafford.

Ampadu started both of Wales’ recent games against the Republic of Ireland and Denmark, impressing in both fixtures.

Despite his successes on the international stage, Ampadu has yet to play a single minute for Chelsea’s senior team this season.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Ferguson described Ampadu as a ‘proper United player’.

However, in the process of Ferguson and David Gill handing the club over to David Moyes and Ed Woodward, Ampadu’s signature slipped through the net.

Speaking about Amapdu earlier this year, Exeter’s former academy coach Simon Hayward said: “In that visit to Manchester United there was a game going on with his age group, there were trialists from all over Europe.

“Ethan played as a central defender, a central midfielder and a centre forward at different times in the game and, in my opinion, he was the best player on the pitch no matter what position he played in.”

PoliticsYou Lied, Your Statement Made Us Adopt Indirect Primaries – Ondo Govt Fires Back by 14Ebiscoo(op): 7:52pm On Sep 10, 2018
Few days ago, the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, adopted the indirect modality for its primary elections in the state ahead of the 2019 general elections.

However, few hours after the decision of the party to adopt the indirect method during the party’s State Working Committees, SWC, enlarged meeting, a former Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Ali Olanusi who attended the meeting, distanced himself from the decision taken at the meeting.

Olanusi, who is also a member of the party’s Board of Trustees, BoT, had said that he was tricked to the meeting by the state’s party chairman, Ade Adetimehin, adding that he was taken aback by the decision of the state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, for the adoption of indirect primary in the state, which according to him negates the path the party’s national body had decided upon.

Reacting to the statement made by the former deputy governor to discredit the decision made by the
party in the state, the Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Yemi Olowolabi, in a statement he signed, explained that the decision of the party to adopt indirect primary was unanimously taken by all stakeholders who attended the meeting, including the former deputy governor, who the commissioner said his contribution of “I don’t have a membership card” set the tone for the meeting.

“For the record, Alhaji Ali Olanusi was not only present but he also actively participated at the Ondo State APC Executive Committee Meeting on Wednesday September 5, 2018, where stakeholders unanimously adopted Indirect Primary to select the party’s candidates for the 2019 general elections.

“In fact, Olanusi actually set the tone for the debate which culminated in the rejection of direct primary with his personal story “I joined the APC 48 hours to the presidential election in 2015. Up till now , I don’t have APC membership card.

“You can then imagine, if, as a senior member of the party, I don’t have a membership card, what then is the fate of other people who are members of the party?” Olanusi wondered, describing direct primary as a recipe for confusion since the party was not yet prepared for all requirements of direct primary. Other speakers toed this line of reasonable thought and consequently agreed to go with indirect option.”

Olowolabi, who described the sudden turnaround of the former deputy governor as unbelievable,
emphasised that his idea made the other stakeholders jettison the direct primary idea which the national body had proposed.

“From the foregoing, therefore, it is inconceivable for the highly respected politician to turn around and condemn the collective decision of Ondo State APC stakeholders including himself. For the avoidance of doubt, Alhaji Olanusi’s seminal and illustrative contributions at APC State Executive Committee substantially helped in arriving at the final decision to dump the idea of direct primary,” the statement read.

CelebritiesGenevieve Nnaji Shares Her Thoughts On Feminism by 14Ebiscoo(op): 6:38am On Sep 10, 2018
Legendary Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji has openly declared she’s a proud feminist who embraces her femininity.

The screen star made her stance about feminism known while appearing in an interview with Women and Hollywood Magazine, a media orgnaisation that educates, advocates, and agitates for gender diversity in Hollywood and the global film industry.

She said:

‘I’m a proud feminist who embraces her femininity. I feel sometimes women are made to feel self-conscious and ashamed of their womanhood. Perhaps like “Wonder Woman,” we may wake up one day to discover that it is our superpower, and then we would be unstoppable.”

When asked to name her favorite woman-directed film and why. Genevieve Nnaji said;

“Patty Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman.” It was powerful and strong, and at the same time, feminine and sexy.

Speaking on the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, she said:

“How quickly the oppressed have risen to the top, and yet the train has not stopped. If anything, they continue to create amazing content.”

History has shown that in almost every situation where a group of people or a demographic is being oppressed, it’s usually because the oppressors are threatened by the potential of the oppressed to be great. I’m happy women all over the world are discovering their superpower and turning “why me?” into “not me.”

PoliticsDeclare State Of Emergency In Plateau, Other Troubled States – Dalung Tells FG by 14Ebiscoo(op): 10:11pm On Sep 07, 2018
Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, Friday, called for State of Emergency in Plateau and other troubled states.

Dalung made the call when he fielded questions from State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The minister stated this while condemning the renewed killing of people in some local government areas of Plateau in the past few days.

He called on President Muhammadu Buhari to impose state of emergency in Plateau, Benue, Zamfara and Taraba in order to stop killings in the states.

Dalung, however, criticized those apportioning blame on the federal government over the persistent crisis in the Plateau, saying that the state and local government authorities should be held responsible for the problem.

He said: “Collapse of local government administration had contributed immensely to the inability of the security personnel to arrest the problems.

“The Plateau crisis can be traced to many years of inaction by previous and current administrations in Plateau state despite the Federal Government’s efforts to address the problem.

“It is disheartening that Plateau state has been witnessing killings of innocent citizens in the last four to five days and this is very annoying and disturbing to the government and inhabitants of the state.

“I alerted the Federal Executive Council on Sept. 5 on the need to take drastic and emergency measures to tackle the crisis because the local and state governments have failed in their responsibility of offering useful information to security agents despite the huge resources being spent on security.

“It has, therefore, become imperative for the federal government to declare state of emergency in Plateau and other troubled states across the country so as to put a stop to the killings.”

The Sports Minister identified lack of dedicated leadership at both local and state levels as main factor responsible for the inability of the combined efforts of the security personnel to check the killings in Plateau, Benue, Taraba, Zamfara and other troubled states.

He, therefore, advocated for the re-reintroduction of Crises Resolution Committee at the local government level.

“But security personnel alone cannot achieve much in addressing the problem without the support and cooperation of the state and local governments as well as the local communities

“There is the need for collaboration between all the three tiers of government, the local communities and Youth Councils in order to find a lasting solution to the crisis,” he added.

PoliticsEdwin Clark Writes Buhari, Reveals Those Behind Raid On His Abuja Home by 14Ebiscoo(op): 10:13am On Sep 07, 2018
Elder statesman and leader of the South-South region, Chief Edwin Clark, has revealed the identity of top police officers, allegedly involved in the raiding of his Abuja residence on Tuesday.

The officers claimed they had information that he was stockpiling arms in his house.

Clark, who is demanding a full blown investigation into the matter, named a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Kolo, Commander of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tactical Squad and Assistant Inspector General of Police, Federal Intelligence, Umoru Usman as those who instructed the raid and search on his residence.

This was contained in two separate petitions addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major-General Mohammed Babagana Monguno (Rtd).

In the petitions with reference number KACCL/ PET/KA/76/18, dated September 6, 2018 and signed by his lawyer, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, Clark said though he has accepted the public apology from the police, he want the matter to be thoroughly investigated.

The petition reads: “Our client did brief us that at about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, officers and men of the IGP Tactical Squad, a unit under the direct command of the Inspector General of Police, alongside pressmen invaded and ransacked his Asokoro residence on the pretext that they were in search of arms and ammunitions. However, despite the siege and search, they found nothing incriminating on our client.

“Our client further briefed us and we confirmed that at the point where officers and men of the IGP Tactical Squad were to commence their search, they introduced themselves as acting under the instructions of the Inspector General of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Kolo, who is their commander. Former SSG, Bayelsa State and former Permanent Secretary Ministry of Power, Ambassador Boladei Igali, who was with our client at the venue of the search, put a call through to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Federal Intelligence, Umoru Usman Shehu, who spoke with the leader of the search party and gave authority to go ahead with the search.

“Having so searched in vain, the Inspector General of Police, in the face of the impudent search conducted on the property of our client, has publicly denied any knowledge of the said search and has immediately ordered the arrest of the four junior officers, who were responsible for the search and tendered a public apology to our client.

“Taking into consideration the circumstances of the invasion and uncivilized search conducted on his property, and the attendant embarrassment caused to our client and what he stands for, it is imperative to hold the view that there are serious questions which ought to be determined forthwith and without mincing words.

“It will be rather unfortunate for junior officers and men of the IGP Tactical squad who were at best acting on the orders of their superiors to fall prey in this regard. It beats our client’s imagination that despite the fact that our client has the compliments of the Nigerian Police Force and the State Security Services protecting him, his property, and overseeing his daily activities, such level of conspiracy could be perpetuated against him. He wonders what exactly warranted such

PoliticsWhy Militants To Return To ‘bombing On Installations’ by 14Ebiscoo(op): 10:23am On Sep 06, 2018
Niger Delta militants have announced expiration of their ceasefire from yesterday to resume attack on oil installations.

They have also criticizied the raid on the home of the Ijaw elder statesman Chief Edwin Clark by policemen.

The self-acclaimed regional freedom fighters have also demanded fthe relocation of headquarters of multinational oil companies to the Niger Delta region by December.

A statement yesterday under the name, Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators, reiterated their stand on restructuring of the country.

They berated the Federal Government and Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris for allegedly ordering security operatives ”to invade the Ijaw leader’s residence in Abuja “with the aim of assassinating him for championing restructuring and the course of Niger Delta people”.

Those who signed the statement, which was issued at the end of their general assembly meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, included: General John Duku (Niger Delta Watchdogs, Convener),

General Ekpo Ekpo (Niger Delta Volunteers), General Osarolor Nedam (Niger Delta Warriors), Majo-Gen. Henry Okon Etete (Niger Delta Peoples Fighters), Major-Gen. Asukwo Henshaw ( BakassiFreedom Fighters) and Major-Gen. Ibinabo Horsfall (Niger Delta Movement for Justice).

Others are, Major-Gen. Duke Emmanson (Niger Delta Fighters),Major-Gen. Inibeghe Adams (Niger Delta Freedom Mandate), Major-Gen. Abiye Tariah (Niger Delta Development Network), Major-Gen. Joshua Ebere (Renewed Movement for Emancipation of the Niger Delta), Major-Gen. Jeremiah Anthony (Movement for Actualization of Niger Delta Republic), Major Francis Okoroafor (Niger Delta Freedom Redemption Army) and Colonel Okochi Walter (Niger Delta Liberty Organization) as well as other representatives of major groups across the Niger Delta region.

They said, “The recent attempt on the life of Chief E. K. Clark is one in the series of people in the Southern and Middle Belt Forum penciled down for assassination or frame-up by this administration through the office of the Inspector General of Police conniving with some top government functionaries from the Niger Delta region, including two former governors, who just decamped from PDP to APC.

“Our intelligence further revealed that some of the people under the government watch-list that would either be assassinated or framed up are: Obong Victor Attah, Dr. Alfred Mulade, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (rtd), Senator Bassey Henshaw, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, Prof. Chigozie Ogbu and Dr. Isuwa Dogo and others, for attempting to stand against the killings across the country, as well as their stance on restructuring.

“The recent police action and attempt on the life of the Niger Delta leader is a wakeup call for action. We cannot continue to watch this continue.

“We also condemn the statements made by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, in respect of ‘the relocation of oil companies’ headquarters to Niger Delta and restructuring of the country’.

“After extensive deliberation on these issues, we hereby issue an ultimatum that any oil company that fails to relocate its headquarters to the Niger Delta between now and December, 2018, should stop operation and vacate the Niger Delta region or face the consequences.

“The refusal of the President to sign the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill into law is viewed as an attempt to forcefully control the Niger Delta resources by proxy. And we advise Mr. President to have a rethink on this issue.

Politics2019: Why Yoruba Must Support Buhari – Fesanmi by 14Ebiscoo(op): 8:00am On Sep 05, 2018
Senator Ayo Fasanmi, a chieftain of Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere has warned Yoruba groups to stop critiquing President Muhammadu Buhari’s bid for second term.

Speaking on criticisms by some factional Yoruba leaders, Fasanmi hailed the Buhari administration for fulfilling its promises on corruption and security.

In a statement on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, Fesanmi described the claim that President Buhari is old and weak as “mere emotion that has no relevance in the present Nigeria’s political situations”.

He said: “Let me warn some so-called Yoruba groups to desist from the attempt to draft the Yoruba race into unwelcome national opposition and negative narratives on national events by their destructive criticism of President Buhari.

“It has come to our notice that certain groups have appointed themselves as opposition spokesmen on behalf of the Yoruba nation, as if they were elected to do so. This is not the right thing to do.

“How can a group decide never to see anything good in this government? How can a group decide to pit the Yoruba against a government that has its son as Number Two?

“President Buhari should be eulogised for fulfilling his campaign promises with particular references to critical sectors, like security, war against corruption and the economy.

“He has even done much more, particularly in global politics. Nigeria is no more a pariah and a disdained nation where people think a President can be derogated by a few to make him lose an election.

“On the issue of his (President’s) age, as being canvassed by some groups, that President Buhari should not re-contest, many elderly people are leaders of their countries, such as the United States. Though Buhari has advanced in age, he is still capable and agile to lead Nigeria.

“Many younger people have led this country in the past, yet what is the result? To be old as a leader of government business should not be the issue, but whether or not such a person is delivering the expected services.

“I, therefore, advise the Yoruba nation to seek more relevance with the national government for more infrastructural intervention, more so our sons and daughters are placed in critical positions in the Buhari administration.”

He further hailed former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as well as Chief Bisi Akande, and Otunba Niyi Adebayo for their leadership roles in making the Yoruba more relevant and acceptable in the Buhari administration.

Politics‘igbo Will Support Buhari In 2019 To Avoid 2015 Mistake’ by 14Ebiscoo(op): 1:40pm On Sep 02, 2018
A pro-Buhari group, G-23, has said the Igbo will not repeat what it described as the mistake of 2015 when the South-East neglected a broad-based politics and supported former President Goodluck Jonathan based on regional consideration.

The group regretted that the move cost the South- East politically, maintaining that the Igbo were out to support President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term so that power could be zoned to the South-East in 2023.

The Convener of the South-East G-23, Johnbosco Onunkwo, while speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday, said the Buhari-led administration had performed creditably in the South-East region and the country in general and should be reelected.

Onunkwo added that the Buhari-led administration was currently embarking on 69 projects in the South-East, among them the Second Niger Bridge, due for completion before the end of 2020.

He added, “We have, as a body, painstakingly summarised the political realities confronting the South-East region with an understanding that Ndigbo will not repeat the mistake of 2015, where we neglected the broad-based politics that brought in President Muhammadu Buhari as a result of regional and ethnic sympathy.

“This, at the end, cost the region a lot politically. Despite this, we, members of G23, sincerely appreciate the attitude of President Muhammadu Buhari, who has risen as a statesman to accommodate all Nigerians irrespective of where that region stood in the last general elections.”

The G-23 convener also said the South-East must seek the most favourable set of political outcomes that were realistically obtainable.

The group promised to work for President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection in 2019 in the South East region.

It said, “We must state that for now, it is imperative to allow the incumbent to complete his tenure thus allowing power to rotate to the south at the end of his tenure as the conventional wisdom of our politics dictates.’’

It also called on all “worthy Igbo leaders to support the President for a second term”, adding that it was both reasonable and politically correct to do so at this time.

Politics'don't Go Crazy!' – Valverde Counsels Alba After Spain Snub by 14Ebiscoo(op): 10:35pm On Sep 01, 2018
Valverde is not willing to discuss another coach's decisions in public but wants Alba to concentrate on his duties at club level, starting with Sunday's clash with Huesca at Camp Nou.

Asked how he would counsel the defender, Valverde told a news conference: "Well, the same as anyone: focus on the game without going crazy.

"It's not a question for me. It's the national team coach who calls up those who he thinks are the best.

"Just as I don't like it when other coaches question my squads and my line-ups, I won't talk about others."

Valverde also refused to comment on Gerard Pique after the defender was reportedly charged with a driving offence.

Cadena SER claimed on Friday that the centre-back has been accused of driving without a valid licence, an offence which risks punishment by a fine, community service or a short prison sentence.

"I haven't spoken to him and I prefer to do that before making any comments myself," Valverde said.

"Those of us who represent a club have a private life and a public image, but I prefer to speak with him."

SportsCardiff Vs Arsenal: Unai Emery Warns Ozil, Team-mates Over Their Positions by 14Ebiscoo(op): 8:18am On Sep 01, 2018
Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has told Mesut Ozil he will have to play where he needs him.

Ozil was subbed off against Chelsea two weeks ago, before he was declared ill ahead of the win over West Ham last weekend.

Emery has declared his star fit to return for Sunday’s visit to promoted Cardiff.

But the Spaniard warned his No.10, who was always indulged by predecessor Arsene Wenger, is not always be playing in his favoured position behind the main striker.

“I like the possibility to have the player play different positions on the pitch and then it depends each match for us and for the opposition.

“For that, Mesut played with me on the right wing and also as No.10, and we are going to continue to do that.

“Mesut in his career, he played as a ten and on the right — when he was playing at Real Madrid, I remember a lot of matches on the right.

“His quality is for playing between the lines. But I spoke with him for his best position on the pitch and I know he can play right and as a ten. And he wants that I can use him for two positions.

“Every player in the squad plays in the position we need. Our demands are very high, very great, but I want to ask every player every day to give us more — not just Mesut, the team, the squad. We need to push, we need to have ambition, we need to have desire to improve every day.

“This is my message for the team, for the squad and for every player,” Emery told a press conference ahead of the visit to Wales.

PoliticsYouths Asked Me To Run For 2019 Presidency – Saraki (do You Agree?) by 14Ebiscoo(op): 7:40pm On Aug 30, 2018
Bukola Saraki, Senate President, on Thursday, officially declared his intention to vie for the top office in the land.

Mr Saraki made his intention known two weeks after he debunked a report that he was interested in the job.

With recent political visitations across the country one is not surprised by the stunt pulled by the Senate President.

Stating the reason for his aspiration, Saraki said the youths of the country urged him to run for the presidency.

“I have decided to answer the call of teeming youth who have asked me to run for President,” Saraki said while delivering a keynote address at a dialogue for youths and young aspirants in Abuja on Thursday.

“Accordingly, I hereby announce my intention to run for the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.

Saraki listed several challenges which he believes have clogged the wheels of progress in the nation.

He highlighted extreme poverty, hunger, lack of education and mass unemployment as some of the things that have paved way for more crime and insecurity in the nation, adding that it is now time for Nigerians to rebuild the nation with new leadership.

With the lawmaker’s declaration, he has joined the long growing list of aspirants jostling for the top office in the land under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).

He will have to slug it out with former vice president, Atiku Abubakar; former caretaker chairman of PDP, Ahmed Makarfi; Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso; Sule Lamido, a two-time governor of Jigawa State; Ibrahim Dankwambo, a two-time governor of Gombe State and governor Aminu Tambuwal, who is believed to be nursing the ambition but yet to make his intention known.

PoliticsNo President Influenced Me As CBN Gov — Sanusi by 14Ebiscoo(op): 4:23am On Aug 30, 2018
Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the Emir of Kano

Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has said no President influenced his decisions unduly while he was governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

He disclosed this in an interview with CNBC Africa at the annual conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

Sanusi said the lack of political interference in the operations of the CBN under his watch enabled his administration to control inflation, fix banks and transform the payment system.

Speaking on the need for collaboration in building sustainable institutions, Sanusi said the country has institutions that work but the right people should be appointed to do the work.

He said: “Institutions are those things that lay the foundation for longterm growth and development. And when we speak of institutions, we are talking about the legal arrangements that define their roles; that also give transparency and consistency to their actions.

“Whether we are talking about independent electoral bodies, independent central banks, independent regulators or the police force, how do we get them to understand that they have a role that is in the service of the entire nation and not at the short term discretion of whoever happens to hold political power? This requires the legal framework that can assess them of their roles.

“I keep saying that the CBN act is one of the best central bank acts in the world. So, in terms of decision arrangement, we have it. But we also need the executive to respect that independence. We need the central bank itself to protect that independence. We need the legislature to ensure that is being done.

“Look, I was governor of central bank. In my five years as governor, I never had a situation in which politicians influenced my decisions unduly. Sometimes, they will like to have lower interest rates; sometimes, they will like you to be a bit softer, but none of the presidents I served ever said you must do this.

“They didn’t express the view. If the central bank wanted to do it and it was within our purview, they allow us do it. Because of that, we were able to control the inflation, fix the banks. We were able to transform the payment system, do the BVN.”

On the issue of migration, the emir said: “You cannot discuss migration exclusively when you don’t discuss development. What is it that makes peo

CelebritiesSCANDAL: My Affair With Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo Of COZA – Ese Walter by 14Ebiscoo(op): 1:52pm On Aug 27, 2018
This article contains stories that most ‘church people’ don’t want to address. So, if you are one of those living in denial and covering up crap going on in the church, this is where you should stop reading. Thanks for stopping by.

Now, for the rest of us, please sit down and switch on your open mind. I want to talk about something I have kept bottled up inside for longer than necessary. I have also decided to use real names, as my defense for any accusation of slander is justification.

I tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but. However, feel free to throw your doubt around but know that I am past the shaming game (where victims of abuse are shot down by blame) I am no longer a victim but a survivor who is sharing her experience to help others caught in same web of abuse, guilt and shame. We only get to live once right? So here, it goes… I recently came to know this event too was abuse (recently here means about 6 months ago).

It has literally been eating me up having to drive by another billboard advertising preachers, or hearing his name, or even trying to ask about the validity of the entire salvation story and whether or not there is a God that truly watches over his people. That being said, I’m just going to say it as it is. This is a recap of my affair with Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of COZA (Common Wealth Of Zion Assembly) Abuja chapter.

This affair I have come to know as a form of abuse as you would see the different elements of abuse very present. I met Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo many years ago. I was getting bored of the church I was attending and someone suggested COZA. At the time, I had never heard about it. My friend said, go there, I’m sure you would enjoy the word. But he also gave me a strong warning. He said he would advice that I remain a member only and not join the workforce. I agreed.

The first time I attended COZA, I felt it was my church and decided I was going to plant my ass there. About eleven months had gone by and I was still attending the services quietly and faithfully.

I really did like the church. One day a worker in the church approached me that the senior pastor wanted to see me. Me? I thought. Why would the senior pastor want to see me? Not the second man but the head nigga in charge? Ok na! I started to think my sin was oozing so bad the pastor could tell I needed Jesus. (Poor old me.)

I saw him at the end of the second service (they had two services at the time) and he said to me that he would like me to work with him. I knew I had no intentions of becoming a pastor so I had to ask in what capacity. He said he’d like for me to join a department, preferably the Pastoral Care Unit (PCU). A few weeks later, against my friend’s advice not to join the workforce, I was a PCU member. All of a sudden, I had some status in church.

I was ‘somebody.’ Dress had to be on point, hair, shoes and what not… As workers, we were literally trying to outshine each other or so it seemed. Anyways, I felt like I was a privileged member of an elite circle. Hehehe. (It did feel good though, for the most part.) About a year after joining the workforce, I was on my way to London for a Masters degree program that would last two years.

As was the rule for workers travelling, I wrote to say I would be away for 2 years and Pastor Biodun Fotoyinbo asked that I keep in touch by sending him my number and email when I had settled in London so he “makes sure I continue in the faith” because according to him, people loose their faith when they leave home and he wanted to make sure I didn’t.

So, on that note, as soon as I got a phone line in London, I was sure to call ‘my pastor’ to say I arrived safe, had settled in and also gave my phone number. We had spoken a few times especially when COZA started to stream online. I always watched and would give feedback on quality of production and share a little bit on the challenges I faced settling in a new land.

One evening, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo called me that he was coming to London and needed me to help him make some hotel bookings as the person who was meant to do it couldn’t get it done (this was rather strange as I had never been involved in his travel itinerary) Later that day, he said it had been sorted and my help would not be required but that he would like me to arrange a cab to pick him up from Heathrow.

I was happy to help my pastor from Nigeria and even saw it as a privilege. (I would later come to learn that all of this was a calculated attempt to hatch a plan that I suspect was set in motion when I was asked to join the workforce.) The cab guy was there to get him the next day and when he arrived, he called to ask why I didn’t accompany the cab to pick him up (again, this was strange but I stopped my mind from overanalyzing the situation as I knew I had no business with his visit to London) About two hours later, he called me and said he would like to see me.

When I arrived his hotel, I called from the reception but he asked that I come upstairs. I got to the room and tried to stop my mind from thinking why I was going to his room. As he opened the door and invited me in, I had to speak to my heart to stop its palpitations. My better judgment asked me not to go into the room but the kind of reverence I had for Pasotr Biodun Fatoyinbo bordered on fear and I steeped into that room.

“Care for a drink?” Asked Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo. “No sir,” I said. “You don’t have to be shy Ese, even if it’s alcohol, feel free and order what you want.” I wasn’t sure I heard my pastor asking me to order alcohol. I imagined it was a test and ignored the voice inside that was saying, “I’d have henny and coke please.” He proceeded to ask how I had been coping in London and if I was a committed member of any church. He also said he thought there was something special about me and wanted to know that I had not strayed from my faith.

I really thought he had heard I was doing something I shouldn’t while in London but tried my best to focus on the conversation instead of my straying thoughts. He kept telling me to relax and feel comfortable with talking to him. After a few minutes, he asked that we go to the roof of the hotel as his room was a pent suite and had a connecting door to the roof.

While there, he sat on a reclining chair and asked me to come sit on his laps. This was a bit awkward for me and I froze for a moment as I asked why. He said he had told me to feel free with him and loosen up. I found myself strolling to sit on his laps. At that moment, I felt like a little girl who was experiencing something her mind couldn’t fathom.

He asked me to kiss him and all I could think about was seeing him preach on the pulpit back in COZA Abuja, Nigeria, which was my home church. He again said ‘feel free Ese.’ And asked again, that I kiss him. A few hours later, let’s just say, we were rolling under the sheets. It felt as though my mind had paused.

I am not saying I was jazzed, (although it’s possible I was in some trancelike state and didn’t know it but I just was so afraid that I couldn’t say or think otherwise.) That was the beginning of this affair.

A sexual affair that went on for a little over a week, DAILY! I can hear somebody’s mind thinking, ‘well, you weren’t raped.” And I remember a pastor I opened up to when I couldn’t take all the mind games asking if I seduced him. No, I didn’t seduce him and no, I wasn’t raped but I felt trapped in this affair.

Come to think of it, how could I have seduced him when I wanted nothing from him? I mean, I was too busy minding my business in London trying to get through with my masters program and I was overly comfortable. And even if I wanted to seduce anyone, it wouldn’t be a married man, not to mention a married pastor.

What I couldn’t reconcile the whole time, was how the same person who preached against the very things we were doing (i.e drinking in pubs, fornicating, committing adultery) was the same person endorsing and encouraging it. At some point, I got really confused about what Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo and I were doing that I had to ask how he handles it. I will never forget what he said to me.

He said and I quote, “I will teach you a level of grace that you don’t understand.” My mind couldn’t fathom that somehow grace was enough covering for not just fornication on my path, adultery on his path and the many lies that was bound to follow what we were doing that was clearly abominable.

I somehow dealt with the thoughts and fears that followed on my path. He had said to me that he wanted me to be his girlfriend and he would take me around the world and spoil me with money and things. Somehow, money had never been one of the things that motivated me (I am from a home where all my needs have been adequately met) In all my ‘badness’ through finding myself, I never did things I did for money but more of rebellion against rules and authority.

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo also said to me that he had a dream where I exposed what was happening to the media. Said it was all over the place and that people were calling me the girl that caused chaos in COZA. He also said I should remember the bible said to “touch not God’s anointed.” I immediately started to rebuke the devil and said I could never do anything like that.

I was almost swearing with my entire family as I thought really I had touched God’s anointed by submitting my body to be used. Little did I know at the time that all of these were ways to mess with my mind and even manipulate my thoughts. Fast-forward a few months later, I was back in Nigeria and my church had become uncomfortable. Anytime I sat in church and listened to Pastor Biodun preach, I felt shame.

I finally sent him a message saying I wasn’t comfortable anymore. I was confused and needed to talk about what had happened. He said I should meet him to talk and I did. It was a really weird meeting for me especially when he tried to kiss me at our meeting. I finally realized at this point that he couldn’t help me.

I thought God was angry with me and I couldn’t pray so I decided to withdraw completely from COZA. This was the beginning of my mental torture. I couldn’t talk to my family because already, I was the only one attending a different church and somehow my mom never liked the idea. As the days went by I tried to use drinking and smoking to cover up the deep shame and guilt I was battling with. But as soon as the high was over, the thoughts came back and I felt stuck like I couldn’t move forward.

I felt I had to talk to someone and I decided to speak to my then good friend, Ernest Akale but unfortunately for me, Mr. Ernest did not have the capacity to hold what I said to him. He broke down completely the days that followed and I found myself having to pause how I was feeling and what I was struggling with to help my friend be strong. After a while, he withdrew from not just me but his then fiancé and friends.

I had to then tell the fiancé what had caused it (she suspected we were having an affair so I had to clear the air) To my surprise she was a lot stronger than her man and told me to suck it up (I’m paraphrasing). She said if she were me, she wouldn’t leave the church but stay to torment Pastor Biodun and collect money from him. Ok! That sounded extreme for me, as my intention was not to blackmail but to heal my broken self.

Anyways, I finally found the courage to speak to my then unit head who said he was going to talk to Pastor Biodun but didn’t have the liver to do so. Before long, the story was spreading and naturally getting twisted. I went to a new church and it seemed like the COZA bug had chased me there.

The pastor would always refer to COZA as some example and each time that was done, it seemed like a spear was thrust through my chest. One day, I broke down in the service and started crying uncontrollably, as I couldn’t take another mention of COZA and the pictures it painted in my head. Very long, boring story cut short, for the last 5 months I gave the whole church thing a big space and break.

I wasn’t sure I believed in God. I wasn’t sure I understood what it meant when people said ‘Jesus saves” and I definitely wasn’t sure how to deal with the mental torture that was affecting not just me but my relationships with family and friends. I was very unstable, fearful and worst of all guilty. I got a chance to talk to Pastor Folarin of COZA Lagos Chapter, popularly called Pastor flo about everything.

I made an effort to reach out to him because I realized the right thing to do was talk to an elder in the church and seek some sort of remedy to a wrong I believed had been done me. Instead, Pastor Flo said, Pastor Biodun had confessed to him and they had ‘talked’ about it and somehow that was supposed to be Ok. He asked what it was I wanted coming to talk to him about it when I did, I told him I realized what happened between Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo and I was wrong and not just that I felt abused and manipulated.

I also said I thought it was wrong for Pastor Biodun to go on preaching without taking time to deal with his personal character flaws. I said I thought he was danger to all the young women that attended the church. Come to think of it, maybe he meant if I wanted something monetary or material (as someone had suggested when I opened up to her) but the truth is, I never wanted his money (or is it the church member’s money.) All I wanted was to meet with him and have him accept that he misled me, betrayed his wife and the church he pastors.

I wasn’t the only lady in COZA who had been a victim of his sexcapades and manipulative patterns but I was the one who could come back after months of struggle with not just my faith but also my affair with him. And I wanted to set things right. I wanted to talk to Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo maybe for closure and I felt like I needed an apology because he played the “touch not my anointed” card to keep me locked in guilt, shame and fear when all along it was a calculated plan and I dare say, it started when he asked me to join the workforce.

Not to mention the audacity to talk about teaching me a level of grace I didn’t understand. I had no intention of understanding a grace that would permit me to go on doing things that were wrong and what’s worse having to carry the burden for almost a year. Different surprising advises came up in the weeks that followed the rumour making rounds. I was told to hush because Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo had been a cultist in the past and could send people to shut me up. All my so-called friends in COZA withdrew from me and treated me like I had the plague.

What was worse was Pastor Flo finally saw my then pastor to ‘talk’ about what had happened with Pastor Biodun and lied that it happened once and was a mistake. My question then became, ‘do these people even care how broken I had become?’ ’do they care about the emotional and spiritual welfare of the people they were pastoring?’ The sad answer was NO. Most of us old members of COZA kept leaving but they couldn’t care less. What was important was to keep growing the church and having more and more cars with stickers that read “More than enough.” Back then, I always felt horrible when I saw another car drive past me with the sticker. I was breaking, I was struggling but no one could help.

A ll they could do was ask me to hide so Pastor Biodun’s goons don’t hurt me. And then the interesting one was if I had evidence to prove my claim. Let me just say here that, it isn’t a claim, it’s a confession to free me from all of the guilt and shame I have had to live with for no reason at all. (That being said, I have evidence to prove all I have said here, the latest being a 58 minutes recording of my meeting with Pastor Flo a few months back) This is my confession and I cannot begin to describe how much weight has been lifted off of my shoulders just pouring the truth out about what went down. So, to all my ex COZA friends gossiping about me, get your facts right.

To those who said they’d help me deal with the pain but didn’t, I forgive you, I have learnt how to deal with it and I am doing just fine. To those who fear for my safety saying Pastor Biodun would send people to shut me up, I really have gone past fearing for my life. To live is gain and to die is Christ (or how does Paul say it again?) And to the only person who ever supported me through it all, thank you, I am learning to be brave. Please don’t think I am perfect in all of this but in line with living my authentic life and putting all forms of abuse behind me, this is where I press the stop button and stop the bleeding. This is where I break the silence and call the church to stand up for what it has been commissioned to do.

If you will not enter the Kingdom, please don’t stop others who are trying to enter. I still remember when I used to nurse the idea of digging up emails, text messages, hotel billings (as once I used my card to pay for his room when his master card failed to work) to prove there was an affair. It was pathetic. Why for the love of heaven was I trying to dig up evidence? I am satisfied setting the record straight.

I am ready for any shaming or bashing that would follow because the truth is, because of what I have suffered and come through, I am really not moved by what people say or think about me anymore. I am a stronger woman and a damn abuse survivor seeking to connect with other victims of abuse to show them how to deal with the shame, hurt and guilt and how to come out stronger.

Turning their mess into their message. I am Ese Walter and I have gone through all forms of abuse from family, boyfriends, my ex pastor and some strangers not to break me, but so I stand and so I qualify to help victims. My scars have qualified me and when all is said and done, I will still be standing. I AM WOMAN, I BEND, I DON’T BREAK! Cheers to the freaking weekend!!!

He said:

“I thank God for the life of the Olubadan for clocking 90 years because he is my father. I pray that the ancient city of Ibadan will witness more development during his reign.” “I want to say that the imbroglio between the state government and Yinka Ayefele over the demolition of his Music House has been resolved.
