Amuneke: Chile Lost To The Best Team

Nigeria U17 team, Golden Eaglets coach, Emmanuel Amuneke has savoured their emphatic 5-1 win over host country by saying that a good side lost against the best team, Completesportsnigeri a.com reports.

The rampant Nigerian side played with a lot of panache, and the South American lads were under the cosh through the match.

Samuel Chukwueze scored in the 1st and and 61st minute, Victor Osimhen also scored twice – in the 66th and through a86th minute penalty kick. Skipper Kelechi Nwakali netted the other from a spot kick in the 17th minute.

Chile's consolatory goal was scored in the 81st minute by Allende. That summed up a six-goal exciting confrontation.

"It is true we were effective up front, but we also knew how to block their passing game, forcing them to play uncomfortably in the midfield," Amuneke told FIFA.com of his strategy against Chile.

"My players understood the transition game, that is when to attack, when to defend. We also prepared them mentally, it is not easy to play against the host. Chile has a good team, but today they lost against the best team. I believe they can qualify for the next round," Amuneke remarked.
Chile coach, Miguel Ponce would confirm Amuneke's claim and antidote against his team flow in the match.

"I told the kids: Nigeria respected us more than the result shows. They took measures to avoid us playing quickly, they knew to wait for us and scored after patient plays, they did not keep us in our goal for the whole game," a bemused Ponce told FIFA.com.
"It is true there were physical differences, especially when it came to speed, but it is also true we were not able to finish off the situations we created. Against a good team, they don't forgive you."
Nigeria have already qualified for the Round of 16 even before their last Group A match against Croatia on Friday. The Golden Eaglets top the group with the maximum six points from two matches. Croatia are second on the log with two points from two draws. Both USA and Chile bring up the rear with a point each from two matches, but the United States better placed on the strength of goal difference.

USA vs. Croatia, 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup: Final score 2-2, Americans blow two-goal lead to split the points
By Rob Usry

The United Statesunder-17 national team took on Croatiain their second group match of the U-17 World Cup. They rebounded from a tough opening match loss with a 2-2 draw. A first half two-goal lead should've been enough to secure the three points, but they were unable to hold onto it as the Croatians roared back with two of their own and probably should've won it if not for some bad luck.

The young American side once again started off on the back foot. They withstood some early pressure from Croatia and were able to keep it scoreless through the first 20 minutes thanks to some wonderful saves by Will Pulisic.

His cousin, and Borussia Dortmund product Christian, would get the Americans out in front in the 21st minute. Luca de la Torre sent the talented Pulisic in on goal with a nice throughball, and he finished expertly to give the U.S. a much-needed 1-0 lead. A bit of serendipity for Pulisic, who holds a Croatian passport and has received interest from their FA in the past.

The goal turned the match around for the U.S. and it sparked them to life. After a few promising attacks they were able to double their lead in the 40th minute. Pulisic again played a huge part as his great work down the right flank resulted in a perfect cross to the head of Brandon Vazquez for a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Croatia came out of the locker room determined to get back into the match and it showed. They peppered the American's goal with shots, but the other Pulisic stood tall and made several more stellar saves. However, the pressure would finally pay off in the 65th minute as a cross into the box was knocked down fortuitously for Karlo Majic to hammer home from close range to cut the U.S.' lead in half.

An equalizer would come just 10 minutes later after nothing but constant possession and chances by the Croatians. Luka Ivanusec was on the receiving end of a nice one-two passing sequence and his first time shot was able to beat Pulisic to bring the score level.

Croatia pushed hard for the winner in the final minutes and were dreadfully unlucky as they hit the post three times, including twice just as the full-time whistle was about to blow. The teams split the points.

USA Lineup
U-17 starting XI vs. Croatia: W. Pulisic; Adams, Arellano (c), Barbir, Nelson; McCabe, de la Torre, C. Pulisic, Zendejas; Vasquez, Perez.— U.S. Soccer YNT (@ussoccer_ynt) October 20, 2015

Quick Thoughts
*.A very disappointing end to such a promising start to the match.
*.Christian Pulisic was inspirational in the attack and it's clear why he gets so much praise from scouts and experts alike.
*.While this team's attacking exploits improved from the last match, their defending still has as many holes as Charles Barkley's golf swing.

*.Overall, results don't matter at this age level. The fact that this team has great technical quality is a very encouraging sign and one that should give American soccer fans hope for the future.

The U-17's play the hosts Chileon Friday to wrap up group play. It's too early to tell how many points they'll need to advance, but it's safe to assume they'll probably need a win. The match is at 7 p.m. ET and it will air live on NBC Universo and FS2.

Guinea Under-17 national team fell 1-0 to Korea Republic in La Serena on Tuesday night, in their 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup’s second Group B outing.

The West Africans created many chances, with Naby Bangoura, Morlaye Sylla, Jules Keita, Yamodou Touré and Alsény Soumah all failing to get past Ahn Joonsoo.

And while Guinea’s keeper Moussa Camara made a great save to Lee Seungmo’s effort just past the hour mark, he ultimately fell to a stoppage-time winner from late substitute Oh Sehun.

The result sends the Koreans to the knockout stage of the Chilean showpiece event on six points, but also leaves the ‘Syli Cadets’ with no choice but to defeat Brazil in their final group stage match after the three-time world champions’ narrow victory over England.

“We didn’t have a good night and we were beaten by a really good team. There are no excuses. Our rival was very efficient when attacking and scoring the goals.

It’s painful, but we have to work to prepare ourselves for the next match. I expect more of my players in this next game. What happened today has passed and we can’t change it,"Miguel Lemme, Argentina coach.

“We didn’t expect a match like this. We thought it would be a very tough game, but with the first two goals we got a big advantage and it was easier. Our intention was to play as we played in the first half against Australia, but keeping the level the whole match. Personally, it was great having a performance like the one we had and in a World Cup! I hope to keep improving,"Felix Passlack, Germany captain.

Mali Bounce Back to See Off Ecuador

Mali put right their disappointing scoreless draw against Belgium to secure a deserved win over Ecuador, though the Africans made life tougher than needed in Talca.

Mali scored early in each half of a match the dominated, but a goal from Ecuador with 20 minutes remaining left the contest in the balance until the final moments.

The Africans opened brightly but only had an early goal to show for their supremacy. Ironically then, it was a dose of bad luck for Ecuador that brought about the breakthrough as Carlos Pena’s blocked clearance fell at the feet of Boubacar Traore who scored from close range.

There were further notable openings for Mali’s Sidiki Maiga and Traore, but both were blocked by busy goalkeeper Jose Cevallos.

Without doubt the most spectacular moment of the match came as Sekou Koita left fly from distance with what could only be described as a James Rodriguez-esque volley, however, unlike the Colombian’s famed goal, this effort bounced back off the post.

Ecuador did have a good opening just after the interval only for Washington Corozo to see his close-range stabbed effort blocked on the goalline.

Instead it was the Malians who doubled the advantage just past the hour mark, when Aly Malle took full toll following a long pass from captain Abdoul Dante.

However, Pervis Estupinan pulled a goal back from the penalty spot with 20 minutes remaining, after Anderson Naula was fouled.

Ecuador’s task of regaining parity was made even harder with skipper Joel Quintero sent off after receiving a second caution with ten minutes remaining.

The win sees Mali join Belgium at the summit of Group D on four points, a point clear of Ecuador.

We still have the chance to reach the next round. But we have to be better than today. That is possible,"Jose Rodriguez, Ecuador coach

But in the second half the game was more balanced and the Mexican goalkeeper had a remarkable match. Overall, I’m happy with the result and with my team performance. We kept our options of qualifying open and now it’s in our hands,"Tony Vidmar, Australia coach.

“It was a tough match against a team that defended really well. We were unlucky in the first half, when we had good chances. If we had converted one, the result would had been very different, but Australia knew our style of play and how to stop us. In the end, it’s a fair result, and it’s not bad because we have one more point,"Mario Arteaga, Mexico coach.

Has anyone else noticed that this year's competition is weak compared to 2013?

I mean, even in our group, despite the awesomeness of Manu's boys, we still had to wait the last game to determine who tops the group, and there were teams on 4 points placing 3rd. This year, with an arguably average team compared to the last set, we've already secured top spot and it won't be surprising if 2 points can secure you best 3rd place.

And let me not harp on the weakness of the Argentine team, abeg if their U20 and U17 teams are this bad, who will take over from Messi and co?

Who cares about Germany? We be Argentina in Argentina but that didn't automatically win us the cup either. This game is played on the field, what happened yesterday is irrelevant. With the right amount of luck these boys can win this thing.

I ve noticed that too . But in 2 matches Manu Garba boys conceded 4 goals , but scored total number of 9goals
But Amunike boys has only conceded 1 goal but scored 7 goals in 2 matches . By this so far it means manu's boys has a very weak defense on paper . . So far Amuneke has not done bad .
