I don't think there is need for revenge , I will implore Amunike to try new players keep the best legs for the knock out stage . Though they need the victory to have a clear 9 points but it's not as important as we can see . The bench can do the magic !

I say Coach Amunike keeps the young lads sharp by playing them. These are young kids. Dropping them now might kill their drive.

2013 World Cup Winner Zaharaddeen Bello Reveals Amuneke Takes Every Game Seriously, Expects Team To Beat Croatia

Nigeria Under 20 international Zaharaddeen Bello expects the Golden Eaglets to rack up their third win on the spin when they tackle Croatia at the ongoing Fifa Under 17 World Cup and has assured that coach Emmanuel Amuneke takes every game seriously.

The Dabo Babes Academy product was involved in every single game played by the Nigeria Under 17s at the 2013 edition of the tournament in the United Arab Emirates, and has predicted that the 2015 class will equal their achievement by winning the Cup for a fifth time.

“From what I have seen they will do more than we did. They play a very compact game, from the defense, midfield to attack. If they continue like this, they will go far in Chile, ” says Zaharaddeen Bello toa llnigeriasoccer.com.

“Everybody wants them to win against Croatia. We took every game as a final and I know the coach (Amuneke) will tell them that just as he told us in 2013.

“Emmanuel Amuneke told us not to think that we have arrived because we were winning matches and wants us to be focused every time.”

The central defender has been impressed with the contribution of Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze in the first two games contested by the national team but he is not surprised with their performance as he trained with both youngsters in 2013 prior to the World Cup in UAE.

“Honestly from what I saw the number nine (Osimhen) is very good in the air and on the ground.

“Samuel Chukwueze has really impressed me. Kelechi Nwakali and Chukwueze trained with us in 2013 but didn’t make the squad but they are very good players,” Bello concluded.

The Golden Eaglets have qualified for the final game of the Fifa Under 17s every time they won all their group matches. That occurred three times , in 1993, 2001 and 2007.

Colombian officials for Eaglets, Croatia cracker

Football’s world governing body, FIFA has appointed Wilson Lamouroux as the centre referee for the match between Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets and Croatia tonight.

The 36-year-old Colombian has been an international referee since 2013 and he would be assisted by compatriots, Alexander Guzman and Wilmar Navarro. The fourth of official is Reyna Oscar from Guatemala.

FIFA also affirmed that Nigeria’s Eaglets will don their traditional home colour with players in green jersey, short and socks while the goalkeepers would be in purple attire. Croatia will be in red attire.

Meanwhile, the Golden Eaglets have yet been told that Friday’s FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015 match against Croatia at Estadio Francisco Sanchez Rumoroso in Coquimbo is a must win.

Head Coach Emmanuel Amuneke said as much during Thursday’s training session at Compejo Despotivo La Alpina. “Our match on Friday(against Croatia) is a must win and we have to approach the match with all seriousness,” he said. “We should not get carried away because we have won our first two matches against USA and Chile.”

He continued: “Don’t forget, it was Croatia that denied us the opportunity of winning the Suwon U-17 Tournament in Korea last month; so it is an opportunity for us to show them we are better than them but unlucky then.”

The Golden Eaglets would be without defensive midfielder Udochukwu Anumudu who was booked against USA and Chile as well as striker Funsho Bamgboye who saw red against Chile on Tuesday, but Amuneke said there are capable replacements: “All of you must be ready to play and that is why we are all here,” he stressed.

“We must remain focused because the match on Friday is very important; we thank God for success in the last two matches but the match on Friday is also very important for us.”

The continent’s four sides have endured mixed fortunes in their first two group-stage matches; will they be content with their performances to date?
By Ed Dove

Two matches into the U-17 World Cup group stage, Africa’s quartet have endured some mixed fortunes.

Of the four sides, Nigeriaare the outstanding side. The Golden Eaglets sit atop Group A after two matches, having won both, accrued a maximum six points and scored seven goals. The sole goal they’ve conceded—in the 5-1 demolition of hosts Chile in Vina del Mar—is the only blemish (and that a tiny one) in a superb campaign for Emmanuel Amuneke’s side so far.

There aren’t too many other nations—if any—who take youth-level football as seriously as Nigeria, and the West African giants have every reason to do so.

'We're calm and focused on defending our title' – Nigeria U17 coach Amuneke https:// /54SQ9hRDeG pic.twitter.com/plVJxNdINr— Goal.com Nigeria (@GoalcomNigeria) October 22, 2015

The U-17 side are the most successful side in the history of the tournament, having won the title a record four times, and the early indications are that the current generation have the quality and the confidence to join some of the elite teams of the past.

Amuneke |Hoping that his Golden Eaglets can live up to Nigeria's great teams of the past
The Eaglets saw off the United States in their opener following two goals in eleven minutes—via Chukwudi Agor and star man Victor Osimhen—before demolishing Chile in the best team performance in the tournament so far. Another of the team’s key men, Kelechi Nwakali, got on the scoresheet in this match, and has lived up to the billing so far.

USA should have gone ahead once again. The Eaglets keep getting prised open in the back. Wright's touch just goes over 0-0 #
U17WConStarTimes— Lolade Adewuyi (@Jololade) October 17, 2015

The Nigerians face Croatia in their final group match on Friday, but regardless of the result, top spot in the pool is theirs.

Having cruised through the group stage, Amuneke’s boys are living up to their reputation as tournament favourites. However, the real tests will come in the knockout rounds, as the pressure to perform—and the echoes of history—weigh upon the Eaglets’ youthful shoulders.

South Africa’s Amajimbos also entered the tournament with big expectations, but for different reasons.

"I'm not satisfied with the result today, especially because we want to win and we will face France in the last game. The second half was much better and we created chances, but didn't score today, it was bad luck indeed.

The match against France will be tough and we'll make some changes. We will work in the hope of qualifying for the second round,"Mohamed Alatta, Syria coach.

"I feel bad for the missed chances today, we had to win. It was bad luck from the beginning of the game when we missed a penalty.

We got only one point, but we'll try to go into the next game to win and qualify for the second round. We'll make changes to face Paraguay and we know it'll be difficult,"Danny Hay, New Zealand coach.

We lost our focus, and our opponent took advantage of it.

We created goal chances, but Korea DPR’s great defensc denied us more goals. Even with this result, we still have hopes of moving on to the next phase. If we win our next match, against Russia, we’d have four points, which could see us through the group stage to the knockout round,"Molefi Ntseki, South Africa coach.

"Today was a very important game for the team. Unfortunately, in the first half, only a few minutes from the start, we lost a player to the red card. We had to play with ten players but we did the best with those left. After that, we had many chances to score but we could not finish these. In the last game, we have to do better than this match,"Yon Kwang Mu, Korea DPR coach.

Chile 2015 to leave coaching
legacy
(FIFA.com) 23 Oct 2015

Marcelo Jara raises his hand and awaits his turn. At
that moment, one of the working groups is analysing
– from a tactical aspect – video footage of Nigeria’s
recent comprehensive victory over Chile, and Jara is
keen to bring the question of psychology into the
discussion.

In the afternoon session, all of these
theoretical concepts will transform into a reality on
the pitch in the practical part of the training course,
although the productive debate never stops.

Jara is one of seven Chilean coaches taking part in
FIFA’s regional seminar for youth coaches in Vina del
Mar. The goal of the course, developed as part of
FIFA’s legacy programme, is to make the most of the
fact that the FIFA U-17 World Cup is currently ongoing
in Chile, and to leave a legacy in the host country as
well as in the wider region.

Indeed, among the group of 24 participants there are
youth coaches from all over South America. Some
names are more well-known than others: Richard
Paez, for example, has previously taken charge of
Venezuelan national youth teams as well as the
Venezuelan senior side, while Fabian Coito has led
the Uruguayan teams out at the FIFA U-17 World Cup
and the U-20 equivalent. Columbia’s Carlos Restrepo
and Peru’s Juan Jose Ore have also coached their
respective national sides at youth-level World Cups.

“You can go and watch other teams’ training sessions
or ask permission to find out how other clubs
operate, but actually being at an U-17 World Cup
match and then analysing it afterwards with
colleagues of this calibre is very rewarding,” Jara told
FIFA.com. “We don’t all think alike or prioritise the
same aspects of the game, but that’s what makes the
course interesting.”

Jara, 43, spent 16 years as a professional footballer.
Since 2010, he has worked as a youth coach for
Universidad de Chile, the club with which he came
through the ranks, and is now at the helm of the
Santiago outfit’s U-17 team. In fact, five of his players
are currently competing for compatriot Miguel
Ponce’s side at the U-17 World Cup, namely Gabriel
Mazuela, Yerko Leiva, Ignacio Azua, Matias Pinto and
Camilo Moya.

“I can’t stop watching them with the eyes of a coach,
thinking about how or where they could be
performing better,” admitted Jara. “I think they’ve
lived up to expectations, though. I’m proud to see
them taking part in the tournament, but we mustn’t
forget they’re part of a larger process.”

----Selecting a style----

The fact that Jara is able to contextualise his players’
participation is no coincidence. As instructors Jorge
Diaz-Cidoncha, FIFA Grassroots Coordinator, and
Daniel Banales, CONMEBOL Technical Development
Director, point out practically in unison, “One of the
objectives of the seminar is to give coaches the
theoretical and practical tools to create and maintain
a football training framework. This will provide each
association with the opportunity to develop and
adhere to a specific style of play.”

As far as Jara is concerned, this is one of the greatest
challenges facing youth football in Chile. “We have to
ask ourselves, how do we actually want to play? You
look at Nigeria here – they have a distinct style,
constantly attacking, regardless of the consequences.
Croatia also have their own style, with an emphasis
on the passing game. Chile are still searching for a
football identity, but to find that, you need time, and
this team has not had that luxury.”

When Jorge Sampaoli’s senior Chilean side comes up
in conversation, another thorny subject rears its
head. While in countries like Argentina, Brazil or
Uruguay it would be unthinkable for a foreigner to
take charge of the national XI, La Roja have not been
coached by a Chilean native since Juvenal Olmos in
2005. Will the time come when the situation is the
same as in the aforementioned major football
nations in South America?

“I think it’s unlikely in the short term, because we’re
going through a highly successful phase,” said Jara.
“But that does not mean that there aren’t Chileans
out there who could coach the national team. There
are several who are on the right path to earning
themselves a chance. Those coaches need to
constantly educate themselves and be ready when
the moment comes.”

Jara views his participation in the course as a further
stage in his learning process. An admirer of Pep
Guardiola “for the way he adapts his teams’ shape to
suit his football philosophy”, he admits that he has
been surprised by the amount of planning that has
gone into the course and also by the communication
skills demonstrated by his fellow participants.

“Sometimes it’s not enough to include tactical
concepts or shower you with information. What is the
point of that if you don't even know how to get across
to your players what you want? That is a great lesson,
one which will help me to better prepare for the
future,” he concluded confidently.

Only players born on or after 1st of January 1997 will be eligible for the 2017 u20 world cup.. which means that we gonna have 5 players from the past set (Z. Bello, Awoniyi, Yahaya, Eze and Mathew)

Yeah good observation. I am looking forward to U20 already. Where Taiwo Awoniyi,Musa Yahaya, Ifeanyi Mathew, Musa Mohamed, Akinjide Idowu, Dele Alampasu are still elligible (bringing in now there club professional experiences) Combine these players with d best from Amuneke's team and we will b more ready this time.

FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015
Calculators and cards: The qualification and disciplinary lowdown

The group stage of the FIFA U-17 World Cup is well on its way to completion. While some countries need more than one result to go in their favour to avoid having to pack their bags, others have the key to reaching the Round of 16 firmly in their own hands.

Against this backdrop, FIFA.comruns through the permutations so that you know what to look out for in the crucial final group-stage fixtures.

Who goes through?
The teams finishing first and second in each group will automatically go through to the Round of 16. They will be joined by the four best third-placed teams.

The standings in each group are calculated as follows:
1. Number of points obtained in all group matches;
2. Goal difference in all group matches;
3. Goals scored in all group matches.

If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, the following tiebreakers apply:

4. Points obtained in the matches between the teams in question;
5. Goal difference in the matches between the teams in question;
6. Goals scored in the matches between the teams in question;
7. Fair Play point system in which the number of yellow and red cards are considered according to the following deductions:

- first yellow card: minus 1 point
- second yellow/indirect red card: minus 3 points
- direct red card: minus 3 points
- yellow card and direct red card: minus 4 points

8. Drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee.
Meanwhile, the four best third-placed teams will be allocated into the Round of 16 matches in accordance with article 17 of the Regulations for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015:

1. Points obtained in all group matches;
2. Goal difference in all group matches;
3. Goals scored in all group matches;
4. The Fair Play points system described above
5. Drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee.

Rules regarding yellow and red cards
Players who receive two yellow cards in two different matches before the semi-finals will be automatically suspended for their team's following game.

Single yellow cards accrued will be cancelled after the quarter-finals, therefore ensuring that no players miss the Final because of receiving a caution in the semi-finals.

Players sent off, either through a straight red card or two yellow cards in the same match, will be automatically suspended for their team's next game.

In addition, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee may impose further sanctions for direct red-card offences.

South Korea finishes top of Group B after a 0-0 draw with England.

Brazil is 2nd on 6 points courtesy of a 3-1 win over Guinea.

England is 3rd with 2 points courtesy of 2 draws and a win, thereby fulfilling their purpose of coming to clap for others at the age grade competitions

Guinea becomes the first team to be eliminated, proving that winning Nigeria at the African U17 championship, does NOT pay at the world stage.

SA will be out next

You're right Safarihoney....... So spot on.... *smiles*

The thing is I'm becoming a little wary of my prediction about Korea..... I earlier tipped south korea and Nigeria as two "tactically disciplined" teams to watch out for..... And see na those koreans no wan concede goal.... Dem dey vex o....

Anyway, in addition to Korea and Nigeria, France and Germany are also top contenders.

Maybe Mali would offer some challenge too but the big 4 for me are the ones stated above this short paragraph.

Meanwhile, Watch out for Joel Osikel, the new guy alongside our "three musketeers" and the other lieutenants tonight........ (If u dey watch am o...)

**smiles**

Osihimen I love the way he keeps thinking and he has a deceptive calmness in front of goal. Great goal.

Our midfield crumbled today- how can u keep on opening space against a technical n pacy team like d croatians(thank God we're not meeting Germany in this early stage of knockout!)! Our General performance was below par! I Can't wait to see amunudu(hope I got d spelling right) bring back stability to d midfield in our next match. Kudos to the lad-they got some fighting spirit though.
But i salute d croats especially lovren, moro n that magical boy called 'majic' they're sensational wit the ball.
Goodmorning all!

Lol.... I kinda expected them to lose against Croatia, all that talk about vengeance reminded me of their senior bros in U20 before the Brazil game.

Whenever the players talk like that, thy usually lose

Meanwhile, this means Chile will most likely progress as one of 4 best 3rd placed teams with 4 points and USA and Olosunde are dismally out
