Amuneke says it will be dogfight against Chile

Fifa World Cup U/17 2015 in Chile

Coach Emmanuel Amuneke has warned his wards to expect a dogfight against hosts Chile in their second match at the FIFA U17 World Cup at the Sausalito Stadium in Vina del Mar on Tuesday.

The Golden Eaglets on Monday morning trained at the Enap Oil Company Training Centre in Con-Con district of the beautiful city where all the 21 players were involved to perfect strategy for the match.

"Tomorrow's match against Chile is a crucial game and you must expect a dog fight," hinted Amuneke. “But we must approach the match with discipline and responsibility; we must be ready to fight for 90 minutes."
World football ruling body FIFA have named officials for the match with Ruddy Buquet as the centre referee.

The 38-year-old Frenchman has been a full international for FIFA since 2011. Others listed for the match that would be watched by a capacity crowd also include Buquet’s compatriots Guillaume Debart and Gringore Cyril as assistant referees while the fourth official is Abdulrahman Al-Jassim of Qatar.

Meanwhile, Golden Eaglets will yet again don white jerseys against Chile as they did in Saturday's 2-0 win against the USA. The only slight change in the team’s dressing on Tuesday would be that of the goalkeepers, who will swap their yellow gear for black top, short and socks. In the same vein, host Chile would swap their white jerseys for their famous red and blue colours while their goalkeepers will dorn yellow attire.

The Group A matches at Estadio Sausalito in Vina Del Mar on Tuesday would start at 5:00pm local time (9:00pm in Nigeria) between USA and Croatia while Nigeria's Eaglets face Chile at 8:00pm local time(12:00 midnight in Nigeria).

"The game was complicated, our team was nervous a little bit, but with scoring goals things improved. We must correct the mistakes. I was surprised by Syria's performance, we haven't a lot of information on them. Today the crowd helped us to raise our spirit,"Carlos Jara, Paraguay coach.

"Congratulations to Paraguay, we tried to score early, our defence make some mistakes and cost us two goals in the first half. We tried to return in the second half with an improved performance after the goal, but the third goal for Paraguay was decisive in determining the winner,"Mohamed Alattar, Syria coach.

“We expected a very hard game. We entered the pitch with our minds off, and we sadly conceded a very early goal. In the second half, we started with a better attitude. However, we wasted many chances, which we have to improve during our training sessions. There’s a long way to go, but we must do things right if we want to keep our chances of staying in the competition,"Molefi Ntseki, South Africa coach.

“We are happy for the victory, since with this result, our players managed to overcome the pressure and nerves from the first game, and we managed to make good use of the chances we generated for ourselves in the final third. In spite of the victory, there’s still lots of things to improve, such as precision and possession, besides the mistakes made by the nervousness of our players. We want to overcome this group phase and keep going through stages. We want to compete, but we don’t want to overlook our players' growth during their teenage years,"Marcelo Herrera, Costa Rica coach.

We are going to prepare for the next game or we'll have to leave the World Cup,"Korea DPR coach, Yon Kwang Mu.

Mali Under-17 national team will battle Ecuador in Talcaon Wednesday, in their 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup second Group D clash.

The ‘Aiglonnets’ got their campaign off to a frustrating starton Sunday, playing a goalless draw with Belgium after dominating the majority of the 90 minutes and creating several clear chances in front of goal, with Boubacar Traoré, Sékou Koita and Aly Malle all coming close to breaking the deadlock.

“Today we had bad luck. We created many chances but we didn’t score. Belgium defended well, especially in the second half. They closed the spaces and for us it was more difficult to find the room to create more chances,” Mali U-17 coach Baye Ba lamented after the match.

“Thinking of goal scoring we are normally really effective - what we showed at the African Championship. Nevertheless we can be really proud about our performance today.”

Top of the group following their 3-1 victory over Honduras, thanks to goals from Yeison Guerrero, Pervis Estupinan and Joan Cortez, Ecuador are, however, expecting a tough time against the West
Africans in their second outing.

“We won but we still made some mistakes. We have to focus on this,” Ecuador coach José Rodriguez warned.
“We now have three points and this is really important. The next match will be very tactical and difficult.”

The game will kick off at Estadio Fiscal at1h00CAT onThursday 22 October.

Guinea Under-17 national team will take on Korea Republic in La Serena on Tuesday, in their 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup’s second Group B outing.

The ‘Syli Cadets’ will be eyeing their first win at the showpiece event, after launching their Chilean campaign with a 1-1 draw against England on Saturday.

One goal down just past the hour mark following Kaylen Hinds opener, the West Africans managed to level matters and salvage a point through Naby Bangoura 14 minutes from time.

And while national coach Hamidou Camara was satisfied with the result, he insisted his side will have to improve their finishing when they take on their next opponents.

“This match went well. We have great respect for our opponent. We played our game but we scuffed the football at some moments and wasted opportunities,” Camara said after their World Cup opener.

“I take note of what happened and I will apply myself to work on better finishing.”
Meanwhile, Korea Republic will be looking to keep their momentum going after getting their tournament off to the perfect start with a 1-0 victory over three-time World champions Brazil, courtesy of a Jang Jaewon’s 79th minute winner.

The game will kick off at Estadio La Portada at 1h00 CAT on Wednesday 21 October.

Eaglets ready for Chile – Amuneke
By Idris Adesina

Golden Eaglets Coach, Emmanuel Amuneke

Nigeria coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, has said the Golden Eaglets are ready for Tuesday’s FIFA Under-17 World Cup match against hosts Chile.

Nigeria, who beat USA 2-0 in their first group game on Saturday, will qualify for the second round if they win the encounter.

Amuneke acknowledged that the match against Chile, who drew their first match 1-1 with Croatia, will be tough. But the former Super Eagles winger is confident that the team will win the game.

“Tomorrow’s (Tuesday) match against Chile is a crucial game and you must expect a dogfight,” the former African Footballer of the Year was quoted as saying on the Nigeria Football Federation’s website.

“But we must approach the match with discipline and responsibility. We must be ready to fight for 90 minutes.”

"Meanwhile, Eaglets’ striker, Victor Osimhen, has returned to training and will be available for selection for the match against Chile. Osimhen scored one of the two goals against USA on Saturday before he was injured."

According to the NFF, the forward trained with his teammates after they arrived at Vina del Mar on Sunday. He is expected to lead the Eaglets’ attack. Osimhen scored four of the Eaglets’ seven goals at the African Under-17 Nations Cup in Niger Republic in February.

FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015
Trio spy fast lane to last 16

The eight teams in Groups C and D return to the fray again on Wednesday for their second matches of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015. Victorious on the opening day in Group C, Germany and Mexico are setting their sights set on early qualification for the last 16, while Ecuador have the same objective in mind in Group D.

Match of the day
Argentina-Germany, 21 October 2015, 20:00 (local time)
No matter what the age group, meetings between Germany and Argentina are always special occasions. Having flexed their attacking muscle with an impressive four-goal display against Australia, Germany will be hungry for more. Argentina, meanwhile, are in urgent need of points after defensive errors and spurned chances condemned them to defeat against Mexico.

Although the South Americans have the edge in the head-to-head, thanks to a win in 2009 and a draw in 1985, they face a stiff task in recovering from their faltering start and will need to tighten up at the back and sharpen up in attack if they are to maintain realistic hopes of advancing.

The other matches
Two-time winners Mexico look intent on regaining the title they won on home soil in 2011 and relinquished at Nigeria 2013. After being rewarded for their attacking ambition against Argentina, El Trinow take on an Australia side licking their wounds after a heavy defeat to Germany. Both sides have made the same number of appearances in the competition and are also all square in terms of their two previous meetings, with the Mexicans edging their 2005 encounter and the Australians emerging victorious back in 1991.

Over in Group D, Ecuador face Mali in what has the makings of an entertaining clash between two attack-minded sides. The South Americans got off to the best possible start in putting three goals past Honduras without reply, while the Malians failed to take any of the numerous chances they created in their goalless draw with Belgium.

In the other game in the section, Belgium and Honduras will both go in search of the points they need to maintain their qualification bids. While the Belgians impressed in defence in holding Mali to a draw in their first game, the Hondurans made too many errors against Ecuador and will be looking for an improvement as they bid to keep alive their hopes of repeating their run to the last eight at UAE 2013.

Player to watch
Johannes Eggestein (Germany)
The Werder Bremen player got himself noticed with a quick-fire brace in the defeat of Australia, having chipped in with three goals and two assists in the qualifiers. The early frontrunner in the race for the adidas Golden Boot, Eggestein will be looking to add to his account against the Argentinians.

The stat
3 -the number of goals Ecuador scored in their defeat of Honduras, the highest tally they have ever managed in an U-17 world finals match, eclipsing their 2-0 defeats of USA and Burkina Faso.

The words
“We won, but we made mistakes and we can’t afford to make them again. The next match will be tactical and tight,”Ecuador coachJavier Rodriguez.

Match schedule
Group C
Australia-Mexico (Estadio Nelson Oyarzun Arenas, Chillan, 17:00, local time)
Argentina-Germany (Estadio Nelson Oyarzun Arenas, Chillan, 20:00, local time)
Group D
Belgium-Honduras (Estadio Fiscal, Talca, 17:00, local time)
Ecuador-Mali (Estadio Fiscal, Talca, 20:00, local time)

if we were using 'beautiful football' to judge teams, Arsenal would be the best team in the EPL.

Hence, the best team so far is the team with the win, followed by Guinea, at least they grabbed a point with an actual goal. No be say you go play 'beautiful football' without goal. The most beautiful thing about football is the goals, all others follow.......well, for me.

TheGoodJoe:

It is the other way around. if a side can create chances, a poor finisher can score. If a side can not create chances, a good striker can not perform.

Football is more about team work. The chances created by the Malian side shows they are a good team with a poor finisher. If they have another striker on the bench who can perform better, they will do better.
we shall see.

I haven't watched any game of theirs- I no know where una dey watch una own. My judgment of teams therefore, are based solely on final scores. Besides, I can't watch 90 minutes of goalless football without feeling like I had to watch part 1-4 of a Kenneth Okonkwo movie

I just pointed out that you missed a point. I did not watch the Malian side but the stats shows they are a good side. If you watch a good side play and lose, the stats will show they are good.

For instance, in 2013, Manchester City lost 1-0 to Sunderland based on result, Sunderland were the better side. However, when you look at the stats, you will know the better side lost.

Possession
Sunderland 37% - Man City 63%

Shots
Sunderland 5 - Man City 24.

It is not a case of just beautiful football but creating chances. The side that can create the most chances is the better side. Whether beautiful or not. I like beautiful football because it entertains me.

But creating chances is the most critical in team's success.

Now as for Arsenal, their brand of football is very deadly. Make no mistake. Arsenal's problem is Arsene Wenger is more interested in Club growth than amassing titles. If not with the style of football he plays, if he coaches the current Real Madrid team that way, he will amass titles. That is a fact. However, we have Bellerin, Coquelin and Ramsey, players groomed by Wenger playing.

Arsene went nine seasons without a trophy. He bought Ozil, and won the FA Cup. He added Sanchez and retained the trophy. Imagine him coaching a highly talented side.

Just call me Andy

Andy Reyes.

That is the most straight forward name by which to call the Costa Rica No9, who played a crucial role in his side’s victory over South Africa in their opening FIFA U-17 World Cup Group E game.

However, the AD Carmelito frontman could just as easily go by any number of monikers.
Casanova.
“I am really romantic,” the confident forward told FIFA.com, when asked about his qualities in an exclusive chat after his goal-scoring performance against the Amajimbos. Is his romance directed at anybody in particular? “Of course, that’s private!” His love for the ball in the opening game meant the youngest outfield player in Los Ticos' squad looked at home on the global stage, terrifying the African defence at every turn.

Brother.
Despite his goalscoring instincts, and his desire to get on the ball, he is unselfish, and he was more than happy to lay on an assist for the CONCACAF side’s opening goal of the tournament, scored by Kevin Masis. In fact, during the chat, the No9 looked a little lost without his partner-in-crime, who had been selected for a post-match random doping test.

“My relationship with him is very good,” Reyes said of Masis. “We are really friendly, we enjoy our moments together and we always have each other’s support. That’s why we can celebrate these three points together.”

The eater.
Looking at Reyes, you would truly question why Masis and the rest of his team-mates jokingly label the slender striker‘el comelón’. The affectionate nickname simply translates as someone who enjoys their food. Watching him bounce off the challenges of the South African defensive players, remaining upright with balance and poise, his own explanation makes sense. The frontman says it’s all down to building his strength.

“I mean, I’m not overweight because I’m always playing football,” Reyes said. “But I do eat a lot. I guess, it’s so that during practice, I don’t have problems with tackles.”

Reyes is certainly hungry for more success on the global stage, saying he has a desire to follow other famous Costa Rican exports, including 2014 FIFA World Cup™ heroes Keylor Navas, Bryan Ruiz and Joel Campbell in going to Europe to play. Despite his lofty future plans, he is also humble, saying he wants to become professional not for the riches, fame and fortune, but so he can buy a house for his mother. A potential university degree is on the cards too. But there is one thing Reyes desires more than anything else.

World Cup winner?
All the joking and nicknames aside, the youngTico is clearly driven, as his tone changes when asked about his ambitions, becoming more focused in his response – and delivering a single, abrupt statement.

“I want to be a world champion.”
Reyes was dropped from the Costa Rica squad before the CONCACAF qualifying tournament, only to return and prove his importance to coach Marcelo Herrera with five strikes during the preliminary competition in Honduras.

That steely determination, mixed pith the multi-faceted personality, makes Reyes a difficult individual to label. The one thing that is certain about the fresh-faced youngster, if he continues with the inspirational performances throughout Chile 2015, he has a good chance of that final statement becoming a permanent nickname at the tender age of 16.

FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015
France, Paraguay shine while Asian champs disappoint

THE DAY REPLAYED –The 24 teams competing in the FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015 have now all played one match, after the sides involved in Groups E and F took to the pitch on Monday. The eight teams racked up a remarkable 17 goals between them, which is just one short of the combined total registered on Saturday and Sunday.

Much has been written about France’s chances at the tournament, and Les Bleuets more than met those elevated expectations, enthralling the fans at the Estadio Chinquihue in Puerto Montt with a ruthless goalscoring display against New Zealand, who trailed 5-0 at the break and eventually lost a one-sided match 6-1. Curiously, the six French goals were scored by six different players.

In the other match in Group F, Paraguay also put in an impressive attacking performance while seeing off Syria 4-1.
In Group E, Costa Rica got the better of South Africa 2-1, notching an early goal and dominating the first half. Their opponents woke up in the second period, but conceded a penalty 20 minutes from time that effectively ended the match as a contest.
Russia, meanwhile, put themselves into a strong position by defeating Asian champions Korea DPR 2-0, with the goals coming at the start of each half.

Results
South Africa 1-2 Costa Rica (Group E)
New Zealand 1-6 France (Group F)
Korea DPR 0-2 Russia (Group E)
Syria 1-4 Paraguay (Group F)
Goal of the day
New Zealand 1-5 France, James McGarry (76)
With his team already losing 5-0, James McGarry’s strike a quarter of an hour from time did not have much impact on the final outcome, but it may well have helped him to get a good night’s sleep, given that he had already opened the scoring at the wrong end earlier in the match. Not only did the determined forward’s well-taken finish make up for his previous indiscretion, but it brought to an end an undesirable run of six scoreless matches at the U-17 World Cup for New Zealand.

Memorable moments
South Africans silenced: Ahead of their first-ever appearance at this level, South Africa’s excited players indulged in some boisterous pre-match chanting and singing in the tunnel that leads to the pitch at the Estadio Municipal Ester Roa in Concepcion. Unfortunately for Molefi Ntseki’s men, their confident voices did not translate into a victory on the field, as an on-song Costa Rica ran out 2-1 winners.

Russians do their talking on the pitch: Korea DPR’s players were also heard encouraging each other loudly in the tunnel prior to kick-off, in stark contrast to their Russian opponents, who were quiet, calm and focused. This attitude was reflected in their play, as they defeated the Asian side in composed fashion.

French festival: Before Monday, France’s largest victory at the U-17 World Cup dated back to 2001, when they beat Japan 5-1. Having built up a five-goal lead over New Zealand by half-time, it initially appeared that Jean-Claude Giuntini’s charges were well on course to set a new national record. A second-half goal from New Zealand temporarily put a spanner in the works, but in stoppage time Odsonne Edouard, top scorer during his nation’s European qualifying campaign, bagged a timely sixth.

The stat
2– Costa Rica’s win over South Africa boosted their rather unimpressive statistics against CAF representatives – their record now reads two victories in ten attempts versus African teams.

The words
"Good victory for the U-17 boys at the World Cup. All my support from here."

Yeah u are right. The final score is d most important infact it is d actual outcome pf d match. But at age grade level scouts look at games wholistically. They look at the individual brilliance, abilities and contributions from each player. Remembet football at this age is nt all abt winning trophies.
In 2003 the likes of Mikel Obi, Chinedu Ogbuike, Solomon Okoronkwo, Ezekiel Bala, Emmanuel Sarki, Isaac Promise etc featured in that Eaglets team dat crashed out at d grp stage bt shortly after d tourney European clubs came after them. U remember how Jose Mourinho and Alex Ferguson were fighting over d signature of an 18yrs old Mikel. That was before he even featured in Holland 2005.

My dear result is important for the Nation at dat short moment in time bt impressive displays is important for d boys' careers and d Nation at d long run.

However also, the best out is for the boys to play beautiful football and win the trophy wink

The Stats is the most important because football is not about one game. Even in aa tournamentlike this, you play three games. The Malian can sort out their finishing problems and still qualify. Through the stats, the Coaches can know their challenge is the finishing aspect and he will spend more time on the finishing. Based results, he will not have the direction on what to work on.

If the Malian side go from here and win all their matches, will you say their first game result proved they were a good side or not?

Yeah u are right. The final score is d most important infact it is d actual outcome pf d match. But at age grade level scouts look at games wholistically. How is this the same thing? The final score is not the most important aspect of the game but the team playing well. In the long run, the team that plays the best football produces the better talents.

In Football management the team that plays better football succeeds in the long run.
