On the issue of splitting signals
I have really expeienced hard time myself trying to feed from one LNB to 2 receivers. First, using splitters to split from the LNB and feed directly to the receivers looked ok at first but theres always a poblem when any1 changes fom one polarisation to another. Channels on horizontal transponders are always trouble.
The story is almost the same thing when when you feed one 'host' receiver and then loop to another.

As of yet, I havent found any viable solution to this issue and I will appreciate a solution from members.

Buggjoe, what you need is a Twin LNB
, mate or a Quad. Each receiver will work totally independent of the other.

enigma,
i miss you no be small ooo.what other European birds do you think we could track?I hope this satellite thing no go make me forget about my trip ooo,except i can lay cable from Abeokuta to Europe.pls get me a contractor for the job.

My Pleasure having you guys and i noted with grief the "all" in inverted commas! This Di-electric thing on 68.5 is killing me.
@ecowas4all,
You have not told us how far you have gone with your installation. At least toxnaija has declared his victory to the house and we are celebrating with him. All you've been doing is to lament about di-electric. Why don't you come out with your challenges so that the good people in the house can help you out? You know that unlike toxnaija who was privileged to have master adewest put him through, you don't have any such luck. So, your best bet is to come out openly so we can offer our little assistance from a distance. Who knows, adewest could still be able to direct you from his location on how to perfect your job.
Remember though, for a motorized set-up, you need a minimum three (3) LNBs to track all the birds within your reach. You need 1 KU lnb, 1 C-Band lnb (with di-electric) and 1 C-band lnb (without di-electric).

I will let the other guy know, since hes the one who needs all the trouble.

@ enitan and George
the station the installer spent time on was the MBC MOVIE, the signal strenght he was getting was 60,65 and 66, before we now settled for 62% and the mbc movie is not showing well and he said it was due to the signal,  well he said there is a blockage, but the tell story build next to us that could be the blockage is more far distance to us, anyway i guess he his right, please advise
Bros,
11190V (MBC freq) is very unreliable for tracking w3a with 90cm. Sometimes the signal just disappears without warning. At other times it freezes and becomes choppy. When tracking a bird always use a tp known for consistency and one that has a high signal strength. Your installer should have used 10976 V (TV malagasy) for the tracking. After that, he should have fine tuned with 12728 V (Direct8, stv, etc). They all have the same polarization. That way you could still get MBC3 whenever the signal decides to come up and it would be at the highest possible level. Besides, and most importantly, you guys could have been through before dinner, eaten well and had a good night's rest grin

And, no. Don't blame the tall building next to you. It has nothing to do with MBC3's choppy signal. If you could get any signal at all, then it is not the building blocking you.

@ ekonibaje, that strong is in good order now, i have to go to one small electronics spare part shop at Oshodi to get the capacitor which cost only N120 only and proceed to a nearby radionics to solder out the burnt capacitor and replace it with the one i bought and it all works well, finally i pay the radionic N200 and that was all.no skin pain

Hello Comrades! My name is broucher and i just acquired a 2.4m meter strong dish thru olofofo and also an ecolink and am getting Nile sat west.
Just want to say thanks F- Marshall who is my uncle and thanks Olofofo for actually showing me access to Show networks.

Olofofo went off his way to really assist me in getting hooked up. You are my own Adewest.

However I still want to be able to get hot bird channels and any other one available. So I welcome any input from you guys.

Toxnaija it's been my pleasure seeing you ,still expecting to see you next week.

Thank you everyone for your valuable input for us all novice that love FTA.

@Fxproff

Yes am getting for most show time channels. Right now am tracking for Hotbird. the channels are alot over 300. Funny that my Dstv Installer came and was amazed at the things am getting with my new dish and he wanted to know, how i did and why i didn't call him, I kept on laughing and laughing at him. It was so funny.

wow, that is really funny, i love that, your installer would be very amazed, its really nice to know that u are gettting those lovely stations, but u have only 2.4M dish, how are u gonna be able to track hotbird, when u have one dish or did u have 2 lnbf? let me know, also is hotbird on the same position with Nilesat, so it wont have to involve moving ur dish from the position of Nitesat, if u are gonna be using one dish 2 lnbf.
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by GeorgeD1(m): 1:49pm On Jan 24, 2009
@fxproff,
I'm glad that you found my w3a info useful. That is what we do on this thread. We are here to help one another.
As for getting nilesat in lagos with 1.8m, yes it is possible-adewest has already proved that. Only that not all the transponders will come out. You need at least 2.4m to enjoy that bird.
CNN is a piece of cake with 1.8m. If you have motorised, you can just move your dish to 22W to enjoy.

And also concerning tracking hotbird with 2.4m, that is exactly what adewest achieved for toxnaija and olofofo a few days ago. He even tracked astra. I think you should take time to read all of this week's post.

For weekend premiership fixtures, read toxnaija's post. He gave a long list of what to expect from showsports and others.

You're welcome to the house. I am happy to hear that olofofo is already transferring knowledge gained from adewest (our FTA master) to other members. This is what I have been advocating on this thread and now it's happening for real.

@olofofo,
Well done for that. More grease to your elbow. I can see that your practical session with adewest is yielding positive results smiley smiley smiley

I Only have one dish , just experimenting with it. I actually moved it from nilesat position to the east following euteslat w4, I started by 12minding ht and 3am I had lost all signals and couldn't get my Nilesat back. Again I tried Hotbird by manually following the dstv dish at my end to the east this morning, but by1pm I had achieved nothing.

well the good news is that with olofofo on the phone i was to re -position back to nilesat. ( Take note it wasn't possible to track nilesat again with my ecolink, i had to use strong box to track Intelsat 7/10k, I got MBC4 at this point. So I now switched back to the Ecolink at that signal and was able to get nilesat. I guess am gonna see the game now, that has been my experience for today.

Thanks again for this forum for their encouragement.

good day to all. I stumbled on this thread after picking up interest in fta as a result of an installation at my place. bin really impressed with what i have gone thru so far. jumped to s2 thinking it will be more relevant considering it is more recent but it seems i will have to go back to s1. you guys should keep up the good work. don't want to ask questions that might already been answered so will go thru the whole posts before asking. meanwhile i want to list my properties and any advice i can get is welcome. i have a 1.8m (i think) mesh dish lying fallow from a previous dstv c-band setup using a gardiner comm. digital c-band lnb (17K) and another 90cm ku dstv dish and lnb. i am in makurdi, benue and a complete novice but hoping to step up.
pls any mistake in this first post should be overlooked. thanks and as they say, more grease ,

have a strong decoder srt 4562 but it is a "production" decoder, i would like advice on what brand to get (one that is easily upgradeable) and can the dstv decoders be put into any sort of use? have two laying around now that fta seems to solve all our issues.

@ tox/olofofo
i ll appreciate if some pics of the installation is posted to the backard forum. olofofo i thinkthats the reason why that group exist
@ adewest
am still wondering if all this signal ll be achieved here in p.h,but as i said ealier i was able to get nilest signal 10758v on a motorized 1.8m eurostar dish so am wondering if ur 2.4m can get like mbc and some channels in nilesat and some porn channels from hotbird(very important),am not hoping for much due to our geo area but if this can be achieved i think me and other guys in niger delta area ll be happy.am going to hook up with u for the original equipments thereafter give it a try in my abode ur assistance during installaton ll be highly apprecited. untill then.

oloofo/tox if u guys did not post or even log on to internet till the end of the month; we no go vex ooh cos we understand. TOO MUCH WATCHING. dstv go even dey envy u guys. enjoy!!!!
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Ecowas4All(m): 11:53pm On Jan 24, 2009
@George_D
Massa I am surprised , please check my previous postings, this week i already mentioned how far the 2.4 M installation went.
Note 1: I use a combined KU/C LNB
Note 2: It is not entirely true the Di-electric eliminates 68.5 because with Salamanders 50 Series we got signal. Although My 53 X does not get signal on that bird with Di-electric.
I may eventually have to get another C band LNB,

Did i mention that the KU in the Combined KU/C LNB was useless? i get only C band signals on all the birds. I suspect my focal point. Will adjust and get back to the house.

@Adewest
Congrats on your actions, we may not have spoken on your exploits before but we salute you!

@Sathob
How far with the Digisat LNB and the plans to bring Adewest to the Gold Coast?

@all

Sorry, that conversation was recorded in my house last night.

I finally pick the second Starsat decoder and the Abracadabra "wonder" card  with Oga Moderator, twinstaiye on Friday. The installation was done yesterday (saturday) and i am tooo happy.  I still used my 1.8m dish with a fuji LNB. In fact, with the  fuji LNB, the tracking signal (12130) increased from 52% to 60-61% (on strong 4652) and i was able to pick the almighty CNN with my 1.8m dish, all showsport, all ART channel etc. Thats incredible. Well, the STARSAT "GOLD" decoder is fantastic. very good. i am enjoying it.

well, find the screeshots of some of the channels below.
