Believe it or not,the whole citizens of Nigeria deserves credits ,not just the authorities, from little children that wiped out every soap in their houses, once home from playtime,to the salt n water scientists, not forgetting the bitter kola merchants and Ewedu genius....ehen ,and all the prayer warriors from every religion in Naija.....Jokes apart,......I have never seen Nigerians so attentive in Battling a crisis ,like the Ebola issue.

they do, but hey!! There are trained doctors who are supposed to be well grounded in such complicated cases than military doctors who are only trained in few parts like givin first aid to injured colleague or others.

We must remember that Nigeria is still at risk. For every new daily case recorded in the west African sub-region, our risk of being 're-infected' grows, even more with our porous Ecowas Visa-free borders.

The fight against Ebola is not over until the last case in Liberia, Sierra leone or Guinea is dealt with.

Chuksphil2go: Stunned by the entrance of the Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, into America, the United States’ Center for Disease Control and Prevention has despatched its personnel to study how Nigeria contained the killer disease.
HEALTH PERSONNEL IN PROTECTIVE KITS AT THE NATIONAL HOSPITAL IN ABUJA ON TUESDAY (12/8/14).
HEALTH PERSONNEL IN PROTECTIVE KITS AT THE NATIONAL HOSPITAL IN ABUJA ON TUESDAY
The US reported on Tuesday that it has discovered a case of EVD in Dallas, Texas, but its health officials said “the crisis is under control and the public has nothing to fear.”
A statement released by US CDC Director Tom Frieden said “it’s clear the nation needs a quick and thorough response to its first Ebola patient”
He said although Nigeria was not completely out of the woods, “their extensive response to a single case of Ebola shows that control is possible with rapid, focused interventions.” Apart from Nigeria, the US will also visit Senegal to study its model.
Frieden said “the best practices in Nigeria and Senegal suggest the U.S. should monitor all individuals who may have been exposed to Ebola and establish a dedicated management and response system.”
Senegal has had no new reported cases of Ebola since Sept. 18 while Nigeria has not reported new ones since August 31,
US health officials are expected in Nigeria which it claimed had the best practices in combating Ebola Virus disease which entered into Nigeria through Liberian born American citizen Mr. Patrick Sawyer whose index case was reported on July 20, 2014. Nigeria is expected to officially announce today that the remaining two potential Ebola patients will exit the 21-day observation period.
How Nigeria stopped the spread of Ebola
According to US CDC, “Nigeria’s first reported case of Ebola surfaced July 20, when Patrick Sawyer landed in Lagos from Liberia and exposed 72 other passengers to the virus. Nigeria’s Health officials quickly issued notifications and tracked everybody who may have been in contact with Sawyer.
“Nigeria also established an Ebola Incident Management Center to handle the potential outbreak and developed a staffing plan that executed a social mobilization strategy that reached more than 26,000 households of people living around the contacts of Ebola patients,”
The deadly virus has killed more than 3,000 people in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia in the largest outbreak ever recorded.
How Senegal contained Ebola
Senegal confirmed its first Ebola case Aug. 29 after a man, travelling from Guinea on Aug. 14, took ill and showed symptoms of the disease. This prompted a quick response, including an experienced and trained staff that was prepared to contain the Ebola outbreak. The procedure led to the identification of 67 contacts who were placed under quarantine, monitored for 21 days and showed no symptoms of Ebola.
Panic in America
The man who imported Ebola into US was found to have travelled to Liberia without informing the authorities and did not disclose the nature of his ailment to the nurse that attended to him. Reports from Texas yesterday said that the Nurse who attended to the man has also taken ill for Ebola in Texas.
A spokesman for Texas Health Presbyterian said the patient had walked into a Dallas emergency room on September 26, without knowing that he contacted the deadly virus and left after he was treated. He then returned to the facility on September 28 where it was determined he likely had Ebola and was isolated. He tested positive Tuesday, health officials said.
Following the lapse on the part of the hospital officials, questions are being asked amid panic across the country. The CDC has thus advised that all medical facilities should ask for patients with symptoms consistent with Ebola for their travel history.

Nah... This is an emergency case that requires martial-level logistics.
By the way, there are scores of western medical volunteers there already. I admit more aid is needed though.

Kayraph: I believe that they want to come and find out how we beat the Ebola trap they set for using Sawyer as a weaponised carrier of the deadly virus. I would recommend that our government do not give them permission to enter the country.

I don't trust the Americans!

That was my doubt too, I believe the Americans thought they have perfected the virus but the high survival rate in Nigeria really got them thinking, they want to come and collect blood samples to use and strengthen the virus for next deployment

I agree with you, this Ebola thing is too serious to be a laughing matter.
I also agree that our Doctors deserve all the praise, despite working under "stringent conditions".

But should you not know that:

1.) the 3,000 personnel America sent to Liberia, are not MEDICAL Personnel as you claim. THEY ARE MILITARY PERSONNEL. Just google it and you will see your folly.

You can then begin to wonder, if Cuba, a tiny country, later sent 1,200 DOCTORS to Liberia, what did America have in-mind, to send 3,000 MILITARY personnel to Liberia? Incase you dont know, it is to enforce the Lockdown and kill anyone that contravenes it. Go and watch the story of the "Lockdown during Katrina flooding of black neighbourhoods in America".

2.) The Mellinda Gates Foundation facility has been in place for treatment of HIV, and that was an individual effort of the Bill Gates family..... not the U.S Government effort. having said that, l recognise that he is an American.

3.) It was our Doctors that converted the facility for "test and confinement" of Ebola suspects. That has nothing to do with the American Govt.

4.) The re-assigned 40 Doctors are still Nigerians, trained in Nigeria till they were qualified Doctors. CDC only came to add to their knowledge, as already qualified Doctors.

5.) The U.S Govt made it very obvious from the onset, that they want to see us suffer the disease, hence their refusal to help with Zmapp, then their condemnation of our Silver Nano and their shifting of resources to other countries EXCEPT Nigeria.

We must also give some credit to our "Executive" (I dont have party affiliation but can recognize performance when l see one). In this case, the machinery of state moved "uncharacteristically very quickly", to make sure that Public servants were galvanized into action immediately. This credit goes to the Lagos state Govt, Not America.

The question is: What does America need to know about Ebola, that it does not already know or cannot know by mere "phone/internet/paper REQUEST", ... that it needs to send its personnel down here, at this point?

Is there a hidden agenda we are not being told?
All this jumping up that America needs "our help" is actually foolish on our part!
They will never need our help but they may make us bow to their own Lordship over us and if we decide not to "play ball", America has a long history of using every dirty means not found in the textbook, to make countries bow to their whims; including Sabotage, regime change, deadly infections, e.t.c

We just need to be extremely wary and cautious of this "trojan Horse" of studying us! wink wink

Having said that, ...
Apologies, but you are the very ignorant one and you sound like one of them "Visa Applicant" at American Embassy who would say "anything" just to get an American Visa! grin grin grin

Lastpage!

Your point is well taken, though I do not believe in unfounded conspiracy theories. Note that the 3,000 millitary personnel are not combat soldiers but from the medical divisions and majority of them are nurses, doctors, and other medical experts.

BTW: Your last sentence is quite funny and if I were not in a good mood this afternoon, I'd say Egbe ndi abriba piafuka gi isi! cheesy

no sir, you don't expect an airborne specialist or an infantry to be in Liberia, those have their boots on Iraqi soil. these are military medical team, amongst them are qualified doctors . is there any special training for the civilian doctors that the military doctors don't have?
