Bros! I'm not here to criticise you view but to let you understand that I'm also Akwaibomite. Akpabio has tried as governor compared to he's counter part. Talking about education! Akpabio made it free and compulsory right from he's first regime. In the area of infrastructure and good road net work, I believe you didn't notice nor experience how it was few yeas ago. Let's stop being bayes and myopic here. Call a spec a spec! Akpabio is working and Akwa Ibom is progressing.

I'm not from akwaibom but I've lived there for over 11years before I left.

Read my post well, he developed the road network in uyo and ikotekpene but same can't be said of roads in oron nation, eket, ibeno, even within the uyo just a little bit of rain and everywhere is flooded.

No public school has good and solid structures like you see in portharcourt or lagos or imo all na bungalow 4blocks of classrooms.

You've seen the state university and how pathetic it was until ETF helped built almost all structures there. That university is not more that a secondary school in some places.

No functional state hospital everyone goes to sani abacha for any slight complication

Akwaibom alone collects up to the allocation of 8states in a month yet poor states like osun have social facilities than it.

Aside some roads, elibrary, stadium and the unfinished tropicana what else can you say he did?

FG Scraps Akwa Ibom Nursing School Over Poor Infrastructure

By Dave Emma
The Akwa Ibom State School of Psychiatric Nursing located in Eket local government area has been shut down after the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) de-accredited all the courses of the school.
A source in the school who confirmed this in a phone chat maintained that after the NMCN carried out investigation last year and warned the school management that it was going to deactivate all the courses of the school if nothing was done in twelve months to renovate and equip the school. But after a year, the body which is responsible for the regulation of schools of nursing, psychiatric schools and allied health institutions in the country launched another investigation in March this year and discovered that instead of improving, the learning environment of the school was further deteriorating. This informed its decision of deactivating all the courses which led to the closing down of the school in April this year

Sentiment apart, I can attest to this post. I made use of the library this year and it was hot like hell. The e-library is awesome though. Based on my observations during my 4 months stay in Akwa Ibom, I would say Akpabio did not really do much for the people. Some basic amenities are still lacking or inadequate such as schools, pipe borne water, health facilities etc Govt schools are in dilapidated and needs serious renovation. Flooding is another problem in the interior part of uyo. I must admit that they have very good drainage systems though. Lots of akwa ibomites are still living in poverty (with due respect to akwa ibomites). However, the few wealthy guys are stinkingly rich. Lack of jobs, industries, poor electricity supply etc. If you're visiting uyo or any part of ak, try to interact with the keke napep drivers and ask for their review on the akpabio led govt. Akpabio is over-hyoed. To whom much is given much is equally expected.

This skills acquisition centre in Abak – the government said it was renovated with N300million ($1.9M). Nothing was done h1 (2)80% of budgeted projects in Akwa Ibom are never executed, a legacy of wastage all round the country. Akwa Ibom is one of the states that don’t have its budget online, not even the governor’s budget speech – Very secretive.

In 2012 Akwa Ibom state government passed perhaps the largest supplementary budget for a state. N125b, ($782B) bringing its 2012 budget to a total of N522b ($3.3B).Much higher than a lot of countries in Africa.

InyinyaAgbaOku:

list the social amenities you mean, let's check whether they lack in uyo for eg
the presence of the stadium doesn't stop him from providing those things
1. Electricity, water, gas at a switch from inside your home.
2. A doctor per every 500 persons
3. Functional emergency services no matter where you live.
4 A general hospital in every LGA.
5. An average of two specialist cancer, othorpaedic, cardiac, diabetes treatment hospitals in every zone of the state.
6. Free annually cancer smear test for all women over the age of 22.
7. Free dental care up the age of 20 and senior citizens.
8. Free mosquitoes net for senior citizens.
9. A functional fire station in every 5 square miles.
10. Modern train net work that connect every single town in Akwa Ibom.
11. Co-operative partnership with farmers to help market their products.
12. A capped social security payment for the unemployed and the elderly.
13. WIFI connection to every school in Akwa Ibom.
14. A Functional and modern equipped science lab in every secondary school.
15. A Functional mini bus for every primary and secondary school.

This is just from the top of my head. A government that is committed to providing all this will have no cash left to be building a nest for glory hunters. A man that has so many mouths to feed at home don't have money to waste on fancy shoes and watches as my father use to say.

Gov Akpabio and State NUJ Connives To Waste N1.5 Billion on Press Centre

As part of the last minute looting of Akwa Ibom State by Governor Godswill Akpabio, alliance has been formed

between him and the State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) for the building of a N1.5 billion International Press Centre.

The foundation laying ceremony which was laid at the weekend saw the Governor donating a whooping N100 million from tax payers money who will never use the luxurious centre. The NUJ State Chairman, Elder Patrick Albert noted that the press centre will have in it designs of two storey buildings, club house for recreational facilities, media museum and ICT centre and other facilities.

During the ground breaking event, Akpabio charged press men to be men of truth while protecting the peace in the society. He was so joyful at the naming of the centre after him, ‘Godswill Akpabio Press Centre’.

Sources who spoke to us condemned the spending on such money on an elephant project wondering why the State Council cannot build a simple facility that will host journalists and conferences. Some wonder what a museum will be doing there when the State already has a museum as well as a tourist centre in Tropicana and Le Meridan.

A government source however revealed to us that the centre will not cost up to a N1 billion but it’s a way of the State NUJ of eating their share of the National cake while Akpabio garner some for himself.

http://www.news247.com.ng/news/gov-akpabio-and-state-nuj-connives-to-waste-n15-billion-on-press-centre#.VGT7WPnF-VY

But the man refused to build school for school children, no hospital or clinics for his people....

No wonder the state is broke.....

Bros,
you can obviously see these are APC paid e-rats on NL. I think you should ignore them.

It is obvious they are jealous. Some of their governors built International universities in Niger Republic instead of Kano, but they don't see it as a waste of our resources. But when anything good is built down south and it's outside Lagos, their running stomach will start.

In Oshiomole's voice, just tell them to go and die! Please ignore them and use your effort to build up the Uyo thread.

Governor money-miss-road Akpabio By Abimbola Adelakun

Then, the Tropicana Entertainment Centre, built at a staggering N33bn, is another instance. In July, The Nation again reported, “Initially, N100 was charged at the cinema. After stabilising the centre and ensuring enough traffic flow of people, the rate was increased to N250 while the state government is still subsidising the amount. During one of his visits to the centre, Governor Akpabio explained that the state government was subsidising the centre to encourage the low income earners enjoy one of the best facilities of the state government. Akpabio admitted that the economy of the state has not developed to the extent where the low income earners would be spending N1, 500 in watching a movie.”

You might want to ask Akpabio why his government built an uneconomical entertainment centre that was obviously not part of his people’s immediate priorities. Where in the world does the state subsidise entertainment? And, was he not one of the governors who stoutly rejected fuel subsidy in 2012?

http://thecallng.com/2014/11/governor-money-miss-road-akpabio-by-abimbola-adelakun/

1. The foolish man built an entertainment center for N33 Billion and still have to pay N1,400 to subsidize each movie ticket because his people are too poor to afford it. Meaning the this is a failed endeavor because the place is destined to be shut down without paying Silverbaird the N1,400 per ticket to keep the place going and avoid embarrassment...

Meaning the foolish man is still spending billions to keep that place opened..

2. What sensible and responsible refusing to spend money on basic needs like schools, hospitals, skills centers and health centers? Entertainment centers is for private investors.

Penny wise pounds foolish...

Before Akpabio embarked on these projects, did he work with feasibility studies? Did he pay a visit to Tinapa in nearby Calabar and ask himself why that project, launched with dazzling fanfare, has failed to generate the kind of patronage then Cross River State Governor Donald Duke envisioned? SMH... grin

Just how many matches can be played in Akpabio’s “world-class” stadium every year to guarantee the place running without the government having to give it a crutch to stand? If 30, 000 people paid N1, 000 to watch matches in that stadium every weekend (assuming that is ever possible), will it buy the diesel for the many generators necessary to supply power and keep the place running? LMAO SMH.. grin
