The Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC) has insisted that it is more interested in rescuing the All Progressives Congress (APC) from predators, rather than merging with another party. Spokesperson of the R-APC, Kassim Afegbua, stated this in an interview with Saturday Vanguard. Afegbua was reacting to rumours that the splinter group from the ruling party was planning to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “We haven’t gotten to that bridge yet. People are just trying to be preemptive. “There is no discussion about party. We are poised to rescue our party first from the grip of political buccaneers and predators,” he said. The National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, earlier this week alleged that the R-APC members were mercenaries hired to destabilise the party. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/2019-r-apc-speaks-on-merging-with-pdp.html

Lagos socialite and suspected serial fraudster, Fred Ajudua, wept yesterday as an Ikeja Special Offences Court ordered his transfer from Ikoyi Maximum Prisons to Kirikiri Prisons. Justice Mojisola Dada, who issued the order, also declined Ajudua’s request for bail on medical grounds. Ajudua bowed down his head in the dock and wept as the judge pronounced the judgment. Ruling on Ajudua’s bail application, Justice Dada ordered the accused, who has been in Ikoyi Prisons custody since the commencement of his trial last year, be transferred to the Kirikiri Maximum Prisons. The judge noted that Ajudua’s criminal cases were the oldest in the docket of the Lagos State Judiciary and had suffered a lot of setbacks due to acts of disappearances and “health challenges” of the defendant. She referred to a Court of Appeal ruling of over four years, which ordered Ajudua’s trial, to justify the position of the court. Justice Dada held that the accused had sufficient time to treat himself but failed to do so. She said: “This case has suffered a series of adjournments on health grounds for 13 years. I am not persuaded because this case is one of the oldest in Lagos State. “The sickness of the defendant cannot further delay the case. Trial in this case has commenced and the prosecution has called two witnesses. Parties should vigorously pursue the conclusion of this trial.” Justice Dada ordered that Ajudua be granted unfettered access to a medical facility in Kirikiri Prisons. The prosecuting counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Temitope Banjo, thanked the judge for her orders to the defendant. Ajudua is standing trial on a 12-count amended charge of conspiracy to obtain money by false pretences, obtaining money by false pretences, uttering forged document and forgery. The EFCC accused him of defrauding two Germans – Michael Kramer and Ziad Abu Zalaf – of $1 million in a business deal in 1993, which turned out to be false. Justice Dada adjourned the matter till September 27 and 28 for trial. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/ajudua-weeps-as-court-orders-his.html

Shehu Sani, the Senator representing Kaduna Central has claimed that Governors have taken over the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and that President Muhammadu Buhari is helpless about it. The lawmaker stated this on Thursday while appearing on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today. Sani explained that the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC) was formed because the party did not treat the new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) members fairly. “We cannot continue to be in that party that has failed to treat us fairly and objectively. “Adams Oshiomole is a good doctor brought to treat a cancerous case that has reached its fourth grade. “It appears that the governors have taken grip of the party and the president seem helpless. “I come from a state where the governor has no respect for the party hierarchy and no respect for the president,” he said. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/shehu-sani-claims-governors-have-taken.html

Veteran comedian, Atunyota Alleluya Akporobomerere, popularly known by his stage name, Ali Baba, has made a proposal to the Federal Government on how to use the recovered fund looted by the late Head of State, Sani Abacha. Ali Baba said he would transform the National Theatre within three years if given the Abacha loot the Federal Government wants to share to poor Nigerians. In a post on his Instagram page, the comedian said he will use the money to turn the National Theatre in Lagos into a “world class Formula 1 circuit”, adding that after investing in the project, he will return the capital to the government. The ace comedian insisted that Federal Government’s planned sharing of the Abacha loot “will not make Nigeria great”. He wrote: “I have a proposal for the federal government. Instead of (sharing) the Abacha loot, give me the money, let’s (transform) the National Theatre, Lagos, to a world class F1 circuit and create many opportunities from that place, and in (three) years we can still give you back this same amount you are about to share. “Because if you share this money, it will go down the drain. If you give it to me, I will give it back to you in 3yrs and you can go on and share the same amount. “And think about it, if it was shared would it be available to be shared now? About the same size of land is what is now a tourist attraction in Abu Dhabi… with multi-economic dynamics. Sharing the money will not make Nigeria great. It will kill our already dying economy.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/abacha-loot-how-i-will-use-322m-in.html

Former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is set to announce his decision amid the crisis in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Kwankwaso, a member of the nPDP, is said to be fed up with the bloc’s futile discussion with the presidency and the party. The Senator, representing Kano Central, will be joined by his loyalists in the APC and members of the Kwankwasiya movement to take a final walk-out in what a source has confirmed to our reporter as ”a big announcement’. An impeccable source told DAILY POST on Wednesday that this will happen within 48 hours. It is widely expected that Kwankwaso will return to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) where he still commands a large followership. Under the platform, he was a federal minister and two-term governor of Kano State. An indication that Kwakwanso has resolved to dump the APC emerged the day the party held its national convention. The lawmaker stayed away but visited former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar same day. DAILY POST understands that Kwankwaso’s return to the PDP was discussed. Already, his estranged friend and incumbent Kano Governor, Umar Ganduje had, in February, made it clear that Kwankwaso won’t get the APC ticket to return to the Senate in 2019. Ganduje has concluded to give the slot to Senator Basheer Lado, who joined the APC in January. Lado represented Kano Central from 2011 to 2015 (under the PDP) but Kwankwaso defeated him during the last election. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/apc-crisis-kwankwaso-set-to-announce.html

Every one of the booklets were marked by the Deputy Registrar, Academics, Mrs M.O. Osidipe and dated 27th June. The booklets showed that the Academic Board of the foundation took the choice in the interest of the administration at its gatherings differently hung on 28th May, 30th May, and seventh June individually. The understudies ousted In one of the rundowns with Reference Number AD/ACAD/8/Vol. 5/06, the names of the recorded understudies incorporate Helen Kelechi Amogu, Damilola Esther Oduntan, Usen Ndifreke Bassey, and Korede Morufat Oladejo. Both Ms Oduntan and Mr Bassey are ND I understudies while Ms Oladejo is a ND III understudy. Another rundown with Reference Number AD/ACAD/8/Vol. 5/07 included eight names. The ousted understudies recorded there are Abidemi Ayejafor, Ibrahim Fashola, Balikis Adetutu Subair, Ridwan Ayinde Razak, Adetola Adeshina, Bright Christian Okere, David Agary and Abiodun Austine Sholaja. All the influenced understudies have been coordinated to hand over the school's property in their ownership to any of their heads of offices, the Polytechnic curator, or Dean of Students' Affairs "with quick impact". Clarifying the method of reasoning behind the choice, YABATECH representative, Ndubueze Ejiofor said that it was standard practice that once one understudy was found duping in the exam, he/she would acknowledge the cold hard truth as expressed in the understudies' handbook. "At the point when the understudies were conceded, they were given the understudies' handbook. Some portion of the substance victimizes examination acts of neglect. It is standard practice here. When anybody disregards the lead, he ought to be prepared to pay for that," he told writers. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/yabatech-ousts-19-understudies-over.html

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, on Saturday said he inherited the crisis between armed herdsmen and farmers. Lalong spoke when he played host to Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara in Jos, the state capital. The governor also lamented that he thought his state’s adoption of cattle ranching would stop the crisis between herdsmen and farmers. He said, “The summary is that I inherited this problem. When I was in government earlier, we had such problems and we tackled them. “I thought we had proffered a practical solution which I was already selling to other states to copy, and with this solution we had peace in Plateau for over three years and we were in the mood of celebrating the peace when this one came.” The governor said when the recent killings occurred, he “realised that maybe something went wrong somewhere, and that is what we’re trying to find the immediate cause if this problem and try to settle it once and for all”. “For us, this event will not discourage us at all. We have taken our stand that we’re going to start from where they stopped and continue to build on it. We will revisit the architecture to solve our own local case, and then contribute to the national discourse on how to have peace in this country. “One of the things I said to Mr. President was that even the effect on people who have been displaced for a very long time is something that sends long-term grievance to people. “Any remote cause to bring back those bad memories tends to make people take laws into their own hands. You see people have IDPs in some places that haven’t been recognised for many years. “Each time we try to put them together, many of them their houses have been destroyed, they can’t get back to those places. Some people return only to see that others have taken over their houses. That’s why in my speech to Mr. President I said here, we’ll not allow anyone take over another’s land again. “The issue of land grabbing will no longer be there. Where we have places that are insecure, we’ll do our best to provide security so that people will have the opportunity to come back to their various places.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/plateau-killings-what-gov-lalong-told.html

The candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the July 14 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has rubbished the White Paper raised by Ayo Fayose-led government in the state to ban him from seeking political office. He said that the Supreme Court had ruled against such White Papers in the past on the ground that a citizen’s right to seek elective positions in government cannot be breached based on the report of an administrative panel of inquiry. DAILY POST recalls that the controversial White Paper issued in January 2018 had barred Fayemi from contesting elective office in Ekiti for 10 years. However, speaking on the controversial matter, ahead of the governorship election, which is barely fortnight away, Fayemi told Vanguard in an interview: “The White Paper cannot stop me or anybody for that matter. Yes, it used to be the case in this country that you can use an administrative panel report or a judicial commission report to orchestrate the ban of a political office holder, but that period has since gone because it became very clear that this was a witch-hunting tool. “And this is a settled matter by the Supreme Court courtesy of the case between Atiku Abubakar and the Federal Government that you cannot use the report of a commission of inquiry or an administrative panel to ban anyone from public office. “To the best of my knowledge, I have not even been asked to show up in any court over any allegation. Rabiu Kwankwaso also went through the same experience. He was governor in Kano, went to become a minister and, when he was about coming back as governor, then-governor brought a commission of inquiry report. “Of course, it was rubbished and the man became governor. I am not the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) but there is judicial precedence. “Therefore I am sure that the so-called White Paper is of no effect. If anyone has any concrete/verifiable case against me, he/she should prove it in court.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/ekiti-guber-fayemi-rubbishes-fayoses.html

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has called on government at all levels to “rejig” the country’s security architecture in order to end killings by suspected armed herdsmen in Nigeria. Speaking in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Thursday, the governor said the current approach to national security was no longer functional. Wike said governments should employ people with new ideas and philosophy to check the menace of insecurity across the country. According to Wike, ”This time, criminality is targeted at some communities. Every time when they kill over a hundred innocent Nigerians, the security agencies claim that 3 persons have been arrested. “After the deaths, they announce that Special Forces have been deployed to invaded communities. Will the Special Forces revive the slain persons? “We must talk of rejigging the security architecture. The present setting is not yielding results. We must introduce persons with new ideas and new thinking to check the ugly trend of insecurity. “ http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/herdsmen-killings-wike-advises-buhari.html

Some rampaging Fulani herdsmen have reportedly killed an Air Force officer and a policeman in Plateau. It has been reported that an Air Force officer and a police officer were killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen. The officers were reportedly killed after being ambushed by the rampaging herdsmen in Riyom village in Plateau State. It was also gathered that their rifles were carted away by the attackers. This killing is coming after Plateau State Government imposed a 6pm to 6am curfew in Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Jos South local government areas following attacks and reprisals in some communities that led to the death of over 100 persons. About 12 communities in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State of Plateau came under multiple attacks over the weekend leading to the death of dozens, according to local sources. The Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, approved N133 million for the purchase of infrastructure and pieces of equipment for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Malam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed this when he briefed State House correspondents on the outcome of the Council’s meeting in Abuja. He said the purchase of the Computer Based Test facilities would enable JAMB take total control of its examination processes to avoid leakages that had hitherto characterised the conduct of examinations by the board. “JAMB had ran their tests for people who seek admissions to universities using computer based testing agencies and this has been attended by leakages over time and in order to stop all of that JAMB has begun to set up their own infrastructure for conducting those examinations. “While they have realized that they had not sufficiently covered the ground they have requested, as they did today, for government to buy-up one of the CBT organization for N133 million. “They bought over the infrastructure, equipment and the building “So, the effort is that JAMB will want to take total control of all these examination processes in order to avoid leakages that had in the past attended their own examinations”, Shehu added. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/jamb-gets-fgs-backing-to-stop-leakages.html

Hundreds of butchers from the 11 Local Government Areas of Ibadan on Tuesday urged Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State to intervene in the crisis over the purported relocation of butchers to Amosun village or they will use their votes to push out the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in the state in the 2019 general elections. They made this know when they staged a protest to the state secretariat over the demolition of structures at the Bodija market and intimidation, harassment of butchers in other markets in the city. DAILY POST recalls that the Bodija abattoir was demolished in the early hours of Sunday after many of the butchers had been prevented to carry out their daily businesses in other markets at Gbagi, Adegbayi, Babarere among other markets. The angry butchers who carried various placards to express their displeasure, maintained that they used their votes to vote in the governor, as they warned that failure to address the issue will propel them to vote out his party, APC in 2019 elections. The protesters while expressing their grievances in some of the placards said, “Eyin ara ilu e gba wa o”, “APC, butchers vote you to power, don’t let us vote your party out”, “APC ni apapo e gba wa o”. Mr. Tunji Jigan who spoke on behalf of the protesting butchers lamented that the abattoir was destroyed at the weekend and they had come to let the government know about the incident. Speaking on the directive by the state government that all butchers relocate to the new central abattoir at Amosun village, Jigan noted that the case was already in court and government should allow the court give verdict before asking them to relocate. Deputy Governor in the state, Chief Moses Adeyemo while addressing the protesters, however, assured them that the case would be presented to the Governor and subsequent meeting with butcher’s representatives would be initiated for amicable resolution. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/why-we-will-vote-out-apc-in-2019-oyo.html

The Chairman, Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber crimes, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, has stated that critical stakeholders in Nigeria’s ICT sector were not ready to proffer solutions to frequent cyber attacks in the country by hackers. He explained that among the nations of the world that were already recording advances in technology particularly in Cyber crimes, Nigeria has the worst ICT culture that would not made them ready to tackle cyber attacks. In his opening address to kick-off a three-day 2018 legislative stakeholder conference on cyber security in Abuja on Tuesday, the lawmaker lamented the low turnout of critical stakeholders in ICT at the conference. Expressing concerns over cyber attacks in Nigeria for which individuals and organizations have lost millions of dollars, Buhari stated that the conference would have afforded the Committee an opportunity to generate ideas for further legislation. “Nigerians have the knowledge, we have the capacity, but we are not deploying them.” “If we value technology development in line with the growth of the society, this hall would have been filled to capacity,” he noted. Buhari chided the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for ignoring the conference, saying that they stand to benefit from the event. “Imagine, we wrote to the Central Bank of Nigeria which is the biggest financial institutions and up till now they did not have the courtesy of replying us. It’s sad,” he said. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/nigeria-not-ready-for-cyber-attacks.html

The Ebonyi State Government on Monday reacted to footages on social media purportedly showing the border crisis between Igbeagu community of the state and Ukelle community of Cross River State. Emmanuel Onwe, Commissioner for Information, insisted that the video was posted by some wicked individuals with ulterior motives. “First, the video in question trended for several weeks in 2017 and purportedly emanated from Boko Haram atrocities in the Lake Chad Basin region”, he said. “The observable injuries are not characteristics of injuries inflicted by gunshots or machete cuts which were weapons reportedly deployed by those engaged in the confrontation in the Ebonyi/Cross River crisis. “Anyone who cares to pay attention to the language in the video would have instantly appreciated that the clearly audible language spoken by the beleaguered victims is French and not any known Nigerian language or dialect. “To post a video of such charged and aggravating content and link it to the clashes at the border of both states, is an act of stupidity and mind-boggling ignorance,” he said. Onwe noted that such insensitive and reckless posts were capable of sparking devastating events of unpredictable nature and those who initiated and propagated it would have blood on their hands. “The Ebonyi Government will stop at nothing to make them answerable for their inflammatory actions, even as the communal clash has been brought under reasonable control. “The military operatives have established a firm occupation of the disputed territory,” he added. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/boko-haram-video-being-circulated-as.html

Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja chapter of the Federal High Court has ordered Senator Enyinaya Abaribe and two others to produce leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in court on Tuesday, or risk jail terms. Abaribe and two others guaranteed the bail of Nnamdi Kanu last year. Justice Nyaku fixed the date after the court ordered the prosecution to serve the sureties with an earlier order of court demanding them to appear in court and explain the whereabouts of Kanu or show cause why they should not forfeit their bail bond. Abaribe, Immanuel El-Shalom a Jewish Chief High Priest and a Chartered Accountant residing in Abuja, Tochukwu Uchendu, had on April 28, entered an undertaken to produce Kanu before the court to face his trial, and deposited a whooping sum of N100 million each. Nnamdi Kanu, who is the first defendant, is facing four out of the five-count amended charge preferred against him and four others, whose trial have since been separated from that of Kanu. Nyako had on April 25 released Kanu on bail after he had spent a year and seven months in detention. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/biafra-court-tells-abaribe-others-what.html

No fewer than two persons including a pregnant woman on Sunday died in an auto crash along Benin-Asaba expressway. An eyewitness, Paul Adah, told DAILY POST that the accident occurred few metres away from Umunede Community, and it involved a 406 saloon car with an 18-seater bus which veered off its lane to crash into the 406 saloon car, leaving three persons out of four persons in the car dead on the spot. He said, “the 18 seater bus was heading to Benin from Onitsha, while the 406 saloon was going to Onitsha with some persons, suddenly the 18 seater bus veered across the slab on top speed to crash into the 406 Saloon car. In fact, the pregnant woman was the first to die, the driver survived, and no life was lost in the 18 Seater bus” But in a swift reaction, the state commander Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Random Kulven who confirmed the incident to DAILY POST said, ” the 18 seater bus veered out of its own lane to crash into the 406 saloon car, we have arrested the driver for his reckless manners, and over speeding, we have also taken the corpses to FMC mortuary, the accident occurred in the early hours while the rain was falling”. He warned commercial drivers to avoid over speeding during the rainny season Investigation revealed that from January to date over twenty three persons have been killed on the Benin Asaba express way mishap, a situation the FRSC boss blamed on commercial drivers who ply the road often to Onitsha and other eastern states. Before Agbor, Igbodo community are often terrible areas that have recorded frequent accidents, and in most cases reckless drivers are killed by unsuspecting pot holes within these areas. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/pregnant-woman-two-persons-die-in-benin.html

Popular actor Aremu Afolayan is not convinced that his colleagues purchasing properties in choicr areas of Lagos made their money through the craft. The actor told Saturday Beats that Nigerians are quick to believe anything especially once it is on the internet but the truth is that most actors driving big cars most likely got their money from influential people. He said, “By the way, I live my life, people tend to think that I am the richest Yoruba actor, but that is a lie. Nigerians assume a lot. I live in a rented apartment because I cannot afford to build one. When they see me buy a new car, they don’t know if I paid for the car in instalments; instead they call me a big boy. What type of big boy lives on N50,000 or N100,000 income per film as an actor? I challenge any Nigerian actor that is living larger than life to state how they made their money because I am sure it is not from the movies they make. I am talking about both the English and Yoruba actors. If they like, they can say they make N5m per film, they cannot afford to build or buy a house at Lekki or Victoria Island or Ikoyi. It is impossible. They should call out mathematicians to figure it out. It is a lie. It is because they meet some influential people that give them businesses or they have side businesses. Since we do not all meet such people or make the kind of money they make through these people, we just have to be content with what we have. In my life, I have never seen an ‘educated illiterate’ country like Nigeria. Nigerians are very gullible when it comes to judging other people’s lifestyle since they do not know anything, they assume. Then social media came and it made things worse.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/any-actor-that-owns-house-in-lekki-vi.html

The governor of Anambra state Mr. Willie Obiano has replied Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state, on allegation of discrimination against Abakaliki citizens living in Awka. A joint press briefing by his chief press secretary, James Eze and Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, Mr Leo Nwuba, regretted that the renaming of a street had been given wrong interpretation by some people. Eze said: “Governor Obiano is the last man to put down a fellow human being let alone his own Igbo brothers. It is totally inconceivable that anyone could assume that the renaming of Abakaliki Street was done with an intention to spite anyone. The question to ask is, to what purpose, really?. “Governor Obiano has always been clear about what he wants to do about the new Awka Capital City. The former Abakaliki Street and the surrounding area have been designated as the entertainment hub of the city. That is where you have the largest concentration of entertainment hangouts. “It is also a part of the city that never sleeps. We have a 24 hours life there. Government has provided adequate security, streetlights, road markings and everything that would encourage a 24 hours life in that axis. That district is gradually evolving into what might be called the Las Vegas of Nigeria especially on Friday nights”. He revealed that when there was an effort to rename the old Abakaliki Street as ‘Willie Obiano Avenue’, the Governor had quickly turned it down because he wanted the streets within that entertainment circuit to bear names that reflect the offerings of the area. “He is meticulous about what should be where. That is why he has mapped out an area that would be known as the Central Business District within the capital. Other areas are also being carved out and properly designated. So, there is really no such thing as an attempt to discriminate against anyone in Governor Obiano’s plan.” Speaking, Leo Nwuba said the state has long designated another street to be named Abakaliki Street within the Capital City. According to him, “The new Abakaliki Street runs from Club Road, across Queen Suites to Enugu-Onitsha Expressway at the Parktonia Hotel end of the road. The street has clear signs identifying it as Abakaliki Street on both ends” he added. Mr Nwuba expressed surprise that there was no attempt to balance the story of the renaming of the street with the announcement that another street had been also renamed as Abakaliki Street. He explained that the renaming of the former Abakaliki Street as ‘Club Road’ was part of the on-going efforts to interpret the Awka City Master Plan, adding that the plan was being tweaked to fit things into their proper places. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/street-renaming-saga-obiano-reacts-to.html

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, yesterday gave reasons the Federal Government was solidly behind Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as the next national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He said Oshiomhole was the man the party needed to lead it to victory in the 2019 general elections. DAILY POST reports that Oshiomhole is unopposed in the bid to take over from Chief John Odigie-Oyegun as chairman of the ruling party However, Mustapha pointed out that Oshiomhole became the chosen one due to his track record. He further explained that the nature of the electioneering for 2019 will be slightly different from that of 2015 as APC will be showing its scorecards to the electorate as against making promises that was the case in 2015. He told journalists yesterday in Abuja: “With skills and experience as a former labour leader and former governor of a tough state, Oshiomhole was well-positioned to provide the leadership that APC requires at the moment. I believe he has got all it takes to lead our party in the future. “So, I have come to encourage him because I believe we need somebody like him at the moment to give the purposeful leadership that we require,” Mustapha said. “I believe Comrade (Oshiomhole) has got the tenacity, the intellectual ability and the organisational skills having been a labour leader and served as a governor for eight years in a very difficult state like Edo. He will be able to take us and usher us to a brighter 2019,” the SGF added. “We are a democratic party. Nobody is going to be gagged. Nobody is going to be stopped from contesting any office. But you know as part of the election processes, there are negotiations and there are agreements and there are consensus building mechanisms that have been put in place. “The beauty about the APC is that we came from different legacy parties but we deployed all the available skills and resources that we had to craft our constitution to also craft the manifesto and even the election manifesto. “Comrade (Oshiomhole) was a very fundamental part of it. So he understands the working of the party because he participated in the crafting of these instruments that we are using. The truth about it is that in every party and in every system, the supremacy of the party is always non-negotiable because that is the platform that produces everybody.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/apc-convention-why-nigerian-govt.html

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday accused the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) of “organizing its National Convention with funds stolen from public coffers.” PDP claimed that the upcoming APC national convention was a celebration of corruption organized to crown dishonest and fraudulent individuals. In a statement by its spokesperson, PDP said some of the personalities vying for positions should be “guests” at the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The statement reads, “The PDP also said the APC has become a laughing stock and a huge joke among Nigerians following the inability of its leaders to resist the imposition of an individual overburdened by corruption allegations as its new leader. “It is sickening to note that the entire APC Convention is a celebration of corruption organized to crown dishonest and fraudulent individuals, who ordinarily should be guests at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) offices across the nation. “With this, the APC has finally capped itself a party of corruption, deceit and lies, where alleged treasury looters are robed as kings and where all decency have been thrown overboard for official hooliganism. “Moreover, Nigerians find it very nauseating that a party, whose Federal Government claims to be fighting corruption, has itself, remained the biggest beneficiary of corruption and stolen public funds. “Our investigation had since revealed that governors of APC-controlled states were coerced to divert huge sums from federal bailout funds meant for the wellbeing of the people as well as monies budgeted for development projects in various communities, to fund a failed convention that promises to sing the Nunc Dimitis of APC.” The opposition party challenged the APC to “deny reports that funds were syphoned from some federal agencies to finance a wasteful convention.” PDP added, “Nigerians can now surmise why the Presidency refused to bat an eye over reported syphoning of billions of naira from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) allegedly to fund the activities of the APC. “Furthermore, Nigerians now have a clue regarding the source of the N671 million reported to have been stolen from the APC account by some of its officials, who allegedly diverted the money into their private accounts. “The PDP calls on Nigerians to mark the APC National Convention as an epilogue for a party that has caused our nation and her people so much pain and anguish in the last three years.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/apc-using-looted-funds-to-finance.html

According to police sources, Mohammed and his fiancee have been dating for a while and have made plans to get married, but, Usman, the man’s neighbour, also like the lady and has been disturbing her to be with him instead. Mohammed reportedly warned Usman to steer clear his woman, but the latter refused to listen Yesterday, Mohammed ambushed Usman, drenched him with petrol and then set him on fire. He was rushed to the hospital where he died. When interrogated, Mohammed said he doesn’t regret his action. “I am not regretting my action because if I did not kill him at that particular time, he would have killed me; so let him go, in his next world, he will not join issues with me again. I don’t care where this case will get to, the most important thing is that I have closed his chapter and stopped him from troubling my life. There are other women in our community but he chose to make advances to the woman I proposed to marry. He has paid dearly for it, it served him right.” Muhammad Abubakar, police spokesperson for the state, while confirming the incident said the victim was rushed to Federal Medical Centre, Bida and was later referred to Gwagwalada Hospital, Abuja where he received treatment until his death. Nollywood actress Toyin Aimakhu has again addressed her issue with Mercy Aigbe. Recall the actress called the latter out some weeks back, claiming she caused her first marriage to end in divorce. Addressing the issue, Toyin said it was a blip on her part and has since reached out to Mercy. She wrote; I am a product of grace. Even in my deepest moments of “mess-up” and deepest hole of hell, God found me and gave me a second chance and aligned my path with grace. Do I mess up sometimes? Yes. Like the Mercy Aigbe’s blip, it was an error in judgment on my part. I was wrong and way out of line. I’ve since reached out to Mercy and we have sorted our differences. today, we still had cause to communicate. I am truly sorry.. It is time to focus on the goal and move on to something better than the past and the present. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/i-was-wrong-and-out-of-line-toyin.html

England’s Old Bailey central criminal court in London on Tuesday heard how an extremist plotted a suicide attack on British Prime Minister Theresa May. Naa’imur Zakariyah Rahman, 20, allegedly wanted to make “big news” by storming Downing Street as May spoke outside her office. Rahman, who said he was fully prepared to die in the attack, was arrested in November last year. “Before his arrest prevented it, he was, he believed, just days away from his objective, which was no less than a suicide attack, by blade and explosion, on Downing Street and, if he could, upon the Prime Minister Theresa May herself,” Guardian quoted prosecutor Mark Heywood as saying. In a chat with an undercover security service agent on the Telegram messaging app, Rahman said: “I want to do a suicide bomb on parliament. I want to attempt to kill Theresa May.” “My objective is to take out my target. Nothing less than the death of the leaders of parliament.” He told an undercover police officer that he would make a “10-second sprint” for the door of 10 Downing Street, with his main objective to “take her head off”. The defendant is also accused of helping his friend Mohammad Aqib Imran, 22, join the Islamic State jihadist group in Syria by recording a sponsorship video. Heywood said the two men shared the “warped ideology” of Islamic State. Rahman denied two counts of preparing terrorist acts. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/extremist-reveals-how-he-wanted-to-kill.html

Rapper XXXTentacion was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting Monday in southern Florida. His death at age 20 was met with an outpouring of grief online from artists and collaborators such as Kanye West, J. Cole, Diplo and many more. The Florida based rapper, XXXTentacion, whose real name was Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy quickly rose to the top of the charts, but was also at the center of internet fame, controversy, arrests and public feuds. Here are five things you may not know about the rapper and his short-lived, yet troubled career. 1. He got his start on SoundCloud XXXTentacion released his first track “News/Flock” onto the music streaming service SoundCloud in 2013. His subsequent releases, which had him not just rapping but also singing and experimenting in vocal styles of whispering and screaming, quickly earned him an online cult following among a genre of rap music known as “SoundCloud rap.” XXXTentacion’s career took off when he released his breakthrough “Look at Me!” in 2016, which he eventually re-released as a single in 2017 that hit the Billboard 100 and appeared on his debut album “17.” 2. He has some unlikely influences Part of what allowed XXXTentacion to stand out from other SoundCloud rappers of his ilk were his influences, including everything from R&B to punk, indie rock and even nu-metal. He cited artists as diverse as Nirvana, The Weeknd and The Fray as influences on his work, and he even had some unexpected collaborators, including most notably Noah Cyrus on the track “Again.” 3. He’s had a lot of legal troubles And yet listening to XXXTentacion has been a source of contention for many rap fans considering his numerous arrests and accusations of domestic assault. In 2014, he was sent to a youth detention center for a year on gun possession charges. And in 2016, he was arrested again and charged with robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Then in October of that same year while out on bail awaiting trial, he was arrested on charges of false imprisonment, witness tampering and aggravated battery of a pregnant victim. Spin published a thorough timeline of each of X’s legal woes and disturbing comments about women, including one exchange where he recalls slapping “a bitch” in his high school after asking his mother for advice. 4. His music was pulled from Spotify The morality of listening to his music in turn sparked a debate when Spotify made a decision to remove his music, along with R. Kelly’s, from curated, discoverable playlists, though they were still available on demand. “We don’t censor content because of an artist’s or creator’s behavior, but we want our editorial decisions — what we choose to program — to reflect our values,” Spotify said in a statement via the New York Times. “When an artist or creator does something that is especially harmful or hateful, it may affect the ways we work with or support that artist or creator.” 5. He had a Twitter beef with Drake After his music started charting, the young rapper took to Twitter to engage in a long beef with Drake, with people even accusing Drake of copying XXXTentacion’s flow. “Drake mom kinda cute, she could get it,” he tweeted back in 2017. He even released a video where he challenged Drake to a rap battle with outrageous stakes. “I’ll run around the street butt-ass naked, I’ll tattoo Drake name on my ass cheek if he can be original for two seconds or outrap me,” he said. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/5-things-to-know-about-rapper.html

First daughter Ivanka Trump shared Father’s Day wishes for her husband, Jared Kushner, and her father, President Trump, on her Instagram account Sunday morning. She posted an image from her father’s campaign, showing the president and Kushner seemingly about to hit a low five. She wished them both a happy Father’s Day and included a red heart emoji. According to Yahoo News, people in the comments weren’t so sure about the amazing part, in light of the current administration’s policies. A former Walmart in Brownsville Texas is housing immigrant children who’ve been separated from their parents, and there has been plenty of backlash about the conditions there. One person wrote, “ Heartless, disgusting hypocrites. Special place in hell for you ‘Christians.’ These families are humans trying to make a better life for their children.” Another said, “Yet he tears apart families.” “Amazing Father’s do not rip children away from their mothers and fathers. You are a disgrace,” wrote yet another. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/ivanka-trumps-fathers-day-post-under.html
