The Nigerian Army and the Police on Thursday repelled an attack by Boko-Haram insurgents who attempted to invade Jakana town in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that dozens of the insurgents armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the town at about 5.30 pm.

Jakana is about 40km from Maiduguri, the Borno capital.

PoliticsBREAKING! Obasanjo’s In-law Imprisoned For FORGERY (full Details Inside) by 1Ebiscoo(op): 12:57am On Jul 27, 2018
A Lagos state special offences court on Thursday remanded John Abebe, a businessman, in prison for allegedly forging a document belonging to an oil company.

Mojisola Dada, the judge, ordered that the suspect be kept in Ikoyi Prison till August 2, the next adjourned date, for Uche Nwokedi to file an application for Abebe’s bail.

EFCC arraigned Abebe, a younger brother of Stella Obasanjo, former First Lady, on four counts before the judge. On Thursday, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The EFCC, in the charges, claimed that Abebe “knowingly forged” a November 30, 1995, letter written by BP Exploration Nigeria Limited to Inducon (Nigeria) Ltd.

According to the EFCC, Abebe also attempted to pervert the course of justice by tendering the allegedly forged November 30, 1995 letter “as a fabricated evidence” in court, in Suit No. FHC/L/CS/224/2010 between John Abebe, Inducon Nigeria Limited, and Statoil Nigeria Limited.

PoliticsSDP Speaks On Police Siege To Residences Of Saraki, Ekweremadu by 1Ebiscoo(op): 3:55pm On Jul 26, 2018
The Social Democratic Party, SDP, has emphasized the need for all stakeholders in the country to consider the independence of the legislature as paramount if truly they want true democracy.

The party, however, stated that Nigeria has gradually been turned a laughing stock before the international community, because of harassment and intimidation of members of the National Assembly by the executive.

This is coming following the alleged siege on the residence of the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki and that of his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu by police officers on Tuesday.

But, the force headquarters in Abuja, through its spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, denied the alleged police siege on the residences of the two principal officers of the National Assembly on Tuesday.

The SDP chairman in Abia state, Hon. Chidi Nwosu, who made this known in a chat with DAILY POST on Thursday, condemned in its entirety, the alleged security siege on the Abuja residence of the two presiding officers of the National Assembly.

According to the former Abia lawmaker, “It is very unfortunate. That is what happens when the executive wants to do the job of the legislature, or when the executive wants to have absolute control in order to protect misgovernance and irregularities in the system.

“Because, it is said that, the legislature is the watchdog for the people. So, Tuesday’s incident also shows another traumatic display by the executive to the legislature.

“With the security siege on the residences of Senator Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu, the international community and other democratic countries would be laughing at Nigeria.

“I will advocate that the independence of the legislature should be considered most important and paramount in the minds of Nigerians if actually, we want to be democratic”.

“With the way it is today, there is no sign that the current leadership in the country or the government of the day, wants Nigeria to be democratized”.

PoliticsNigerian Government Not Willing To Save For Rainy Day – CBN Cries Out by 1Ebiscoo(op): 10:06am On Jul 25, 2018
The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on Tuesday, warned the Federal Government to learn to save heavily from current improved crude oil sales for the rainy day.

CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, who read the communique of July MPC meeting in Abuja, said the committee, while discussing the economic report, observed that as the prices of crude oil increased in 2017 and 2018, the monthly allocation to various levels of government also increased, suggesting that Federal Government was not conscious of saving for the rainy day.

He said the committee had called on the apex bank to continue to build on the progress already made in arresting the trend to sustain the moderation in food inflation.

Emefiele said the MPC noted with satisfaction the fourth consecutive quarters of growth of real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the positive growth outlook in the domestic economy.

“This is shown by the sustained improvement in the manufacturing and non manufacturing purchasing managers indices in the second quarter of the year,” he said.

He said the committee was, however, concerned about the liquidity impact of the 2018 expansionary fiscal budget and increasing FAAC distributions due to rising prices of crude oil as well as the build up to election related activities.

On the declining foreign reserves from $47.7 billion in May to $47.2 billion in June, Emefiele said the development had nothing to do with politics as being insinuated.

“What is happening is as a result of US Federal Reserve Bank normalisation. Since the interest rate has gone up in the US, and other advanced economies, in an attempt to stimulate their economies, these money that moved into the emerging economies are now being taken back and this means there will be so much outflow of cash than inflows. And of course we have our own share of it.

“But it must be noted that Nigeria has performed better than other emerging markets around the world, with a stabilised exchange rate because we have been able to build enough buffers to support our currency and that is why the exchange rate has remained stable.

“Countries like South Africa and others have had their currencies depreciated but the Naira remains stable at N360/$ at this time,” he added.

On currency swap update, the CBN Governor said: “China remains Nigeria largest trading partner and we are saying that those trading can be paid for using renminbi instead of dollars, because people who are importing using renmimbi we are offering some discounts since we have this soft deal with the Bank of China and we are encouraging people to embrace the use of renminbi for trade between Nigeria and China.”

PoliticsNigerians Attack EFCC Over Invitation Of Ekweremadu by 1Ebiscoo(op): 7:31pm On Jul 24, 2018
https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Ike-Ekweremadu.jpg
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has sparked controversy over a letter sent to the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, inviting him for questioning.

The anti-graft agency in the letter dated July 24, signed by its Director of operations, Mohammed Abar
asked Ekweremadu to visit 5, Fomela street in Wuse 2 at 10am for questioning.

EFCC said it was investigating “case of conspiracy, abuse of office and money laundering”.

But the letter inviting Ekweremadu was dated Tuesday, July 24, the same day it asked the Enugu-born politician to appear at 10am.

Reacting, Nigerians said that the anti-graft agency was being used as a tool for dictatorship in President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.

According to them, the letter and invasion of Ekweremadu’s residence showed that the EFCC was no longer a neutral body, but had been compromised.

Here are some comments gathered by DAILY POST:

@Mbaderek “How can democracy thrive in a country when so-called independent organizations like EFCC are tools of dictatorship.”

@Emmaikumeh “So the EFCC is now been used against the deputy sen president, they sent an invitation to Ekweremadu at 8 am July 24, 2018 – to report at 10am July 24, 2018. “EFCC/Police are working hand in hand with Buhari to destroy democracy. It will fail.”

@Nsa20 “This is clearly proved that EFCC is no longer a neutral body but it is a tool used by the @MBuhari led admin to fight those in opposition and anybody trying utter the bitter part of his failed admin. Any attempts to attack our democracy remained condemnable! Buhari Must Go.”

@Aroberryplc “It is sad if EFCC is politicised. They should do their job regardless of the political affiliation of the accused persons. But based on the letter, the honorable is only invited for interrogation. He should go n fear nothing if innocent. No sacred cow.”

@Ojojoh “Magu, Idris are just tools used by the presidency to intimidate democracy, I feel sorry for those two. Like really sorry for them because the table will turn, the wind will shift, tides will turn, the weather will change, knowledge will always grow, the day will come after night, the sun will rise.”

@Amasonic “So they blocked Ekweremadu first and then created a letter from EFCC after the fact? How do you serve an invitation letter on the morning you want the person to appear?

@Ariyoaristotle “I see you EFCC playing politics with the Eagle. You sent an invitation to Ekweremadu at 8 am July 24, 2018 – to report at 10am July 24, 2018.

“EFCC/Police have plotted with Buhari to destroy democracy. It will fail.”

@Olayinkalere “Suddenly, EFCC remembered that it has complaints against the Dep. Senate President, Ekweremadu and invited him this morning.

“Like I have said in the past, those still supporting this Buhari’s Tyranny will soon get their own treatment.”

@Sudeh01 “How can EFCC reportedly serve him an invitation by 8am and expect him to make himself available by 10am same day? Yet his residence is under siege. What’s going on?

@Ay_focus “EFCC should be more creative than this, they are doing President Buhari more harm than good.”

Politics2019: Katsina APC Group Vows To Unseat Masari by 1Ebiscoo(op): 10:27am On Jul 24, 2018
https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/BelloMasari_SpeakerHouseofRepresentatives.jpg
A political group in Katsina State, Katsina-Daura-Funtua Network for Justice under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has vowed to unseat Governor Aminu Bello Masari in 2019.

The group described him as a “deceiver” who has failed to fulfill his 2015 campaign promises to the electorate.

The forum also accused the governor of killing the local government system, which according to it, had resulted in the mismanagement of the statutory grants of the 34 local governments of the state.

The forum, which has 77 aspirants who contested for the state Assembly seats during the 2015 general election but lost at the party’s primaries, warned people it described as mischief makers to desist from dragging its members to the mud.

The Vice-Chairman of the Forum, Yahaya Nuhu Mafita, who made the position of the group known to newsmen shortly after their meeting in Katsina yesterday, said his members have been denied any form of participation in all sectors of government for reasons best known to the state government.

He said: “Considering the fact that 2019 general election is around the corner and there is no form of consideration of the forum or its members by the government. The forum after due consultations at various levels resolved to express its grievances against the government.

“We also condemn government for lack of democratic principles by muzzling the party and ensuring that the party is not run in accordance with its constitution and guidelines.”

However, the state Chairman of APC, Alhaji Shittu Shittu, has debunked the allegations raised by the forum, saying the action of the forum has nothing to do with members of the party in the state ahead of the 2019 general election.

Shittu described the allegations raised by the forum as baseless.

He told journalists: “Members of the forum made a request to the state government which the governor is working towards, but they failed to be patient to see what the governor will do. This might be the reason why they formed their forum. The forum cannot unseat Governor Masari.”

PoliticsNYSC Asks Corps Members To Declare Health Status by 1Ebiscoo(op): 7:32am On Jul 22, 2018
https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/NYSC-nan.jpg
Emmanuel Attah, the Osun Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, has called on prospective graduates posted to the state for NYSC to declare their health status for better management.

Attah made the appeal in an interview with NAN in Osogbo, on the corps’ preparedness to accommodate and camp a new set of graduates for the NYSC scheme.

According to him, the Osun NYSC orientation camp, located at Ede, would be opened on Tuesday through to Wednesday for the graduates posted to the state to report and register.

He added that the camp would be closed for registration by Wednesday midnight for the 21 days’ orientation, while registered members would be sworn in as 2018 Batch B corps members on Thursday.

He, therefore, appealed to graduates coming for NYSC not to hide their health status and avoid coming to the camp with fake medical certificate of fitness to deceive NYSC officials.

Attah said, “knowing their health status would help us to assist them properly.

“Their health condition would not stop them from serving their fatherland, but concealing their health condition would make it difficult for us to attend to them properly.”

PoliticsWhat We Discussed With Buhari – APC Lawmakers by 1Ebiscoo(op): 5:07pm On Jul 20, 2018
On Thursday evening, members of the House of Representatives loyal to President Muhammadu Buhari, met him behind closed doors.

The lawmakers were led by Musa Sarkin-Adar and Abdulmumini Jibrin.

Speaking with State House correspondents after the meeting, Sarkin-Adar said the meeting “looked at the concerns within the country and the various political parties because election is approaching.”

He said as members of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in the National Assembly, they felt it was necessary to go and have an interface with Buhari and the national chairman of the party “to address issues and concerns raised by members across the federation.”

Sarkin-Adar said they had “certain concerns and misgivings” in each state of the federation, where congresses were held from wards to local government and state level recently.

“There were so many discrepancies and issues that came up and people made a lot of complaints and they were not listened to. As a result of that, some people thought that they will move out of the party and join another party.

“Others, even before that had made up their minds they were going somewhere and we feel it is necessary to come and inform the president that we are committed to remaining with the party, but issues should be looked into and addressed properly so that all aggrieved members can be persuaded to remain.”

Mr Sarkin-Adar, who represents Goronyo/Gada Federal constituency, Sokoto State, said their decision to remain as committed members of the APC, was based on their experience as members of the House of Representatives.

“So it is now a clarion call for us to rally behind the president and the need for us to also be listened to so that the issues of development of this country can be addressed,” he said.

On how Buhari responded to their submissions, Sarkin-Adar said the president’s response was “very well and very fantastic”.

PoliticsEkiti Election: INEC Breaks Silence On ‘vote-buying, Rigging’ by 1Ebiscoo(op): 9:26am On Jul 19, 2018
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday condemned the open buying of votes in the Ekiti governorship election.

This was contained in a communiqué issued after its meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners from all the states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The communiqué was signed by the National Commissioner and Member, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna.

On alleged rigging, the Commission stated that manipulation did not occur and that its headache was vote-buying.

“The Commission reviewed the conduct of the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State and preparations for the September 22, 2018 Osun governorship election.

“It noted the satisfactory conduct of the Ekiti governorship election as attested to by both domestic and international observers, the media and other stakeholders.

“The meeting also noted with deep concern, the rising phenomenon of vote-buying during elections and restated its commitment and determination to continue to work with all stakeholders, especially the security agencies, to stem the ugly trend,” it read.

Meanwhile, Ekiti State Governor-elect, Kayode Fayemi and his deputy, Bisi Egbeyemi have received their certificates of return.

The ceremony took place at the state INEC headquarters along new Iyin Road in Ado-Ekiti.

PoliticsRep Withdraws From 2019 Race Because Nigerians See National Assembly Members As by 1Ebiscoo(op): 12:03pm On Jul 18, 2018
The member representing Munya/Rafi/Shiroro constituency of Niger state in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abubakar Chika Adamu, has stated that he won’t be seeking to retain the seat in the 2019 election because Nigerians perceive National Assembly members as “thieves and looters”.

Speaking with DAILY POST at the House Press Corps centre on Wednesday, the first-term lawmaker, who came into the House in 2015, said he voluntarily decided to quit and would not seek re-election because of the stereotype of “thieves and looters” as well as “lack of public trust” trailing members of the National Assembly.

He said, “There is lack of public trust, which make the people call us thieves. I have a daughter who told me one day, Daddy, I don’t want to tell people that you are a politician because they say all politicians are thieves.”

The Niger state Reps member said he was going back to his first love as an academic, stating that politics in Nigeria has acquired a negative connotation that often scares men of sound character and integrity from participating.

He added that he did not come to National Assembly to provide tricycles (Keke) or motorcycles to his constituent but to build institutional structures that will eradicate poverty once and for all from the society.

“I did not come here to provide keke or motorcycles. Governors and Local Government Chairmen can do that. I am here to create institutional structures that will lift people out of poverty,” he noted.

According to Adamu, he had been both a Special Assistant and a Commissioner under Gov. Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, and had never collected any money from anybody, either as a politician or public servant, to influence any decision.

“I am not saying this as a campaign or whatever but facts. My salary is about N600,000.00 monthly plus N300,000 car loan. I don’t take bribes and has not taken any gift or monetary inducement from anyone, for whatever reasons except N400,000 donated to my campaign by two persons in 2015,” he claimed.

Adewale, in a statement by the media director of his Campaign Organization, Prince Adelaja Adeoye in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, however, expressed gratitude to the people for the support accorded him.

He said that their involvement in his campaign had further strengthens his resolve not to back down in his quest to lead the state.

Adewale thanked the ADP leadership, across the country, the National Chairman, Engr Y.Y Sani, the BoT Chairman, Chief Alani Bankole, the South West Chairman, Alhaji Lateef Arowosaiye, Ekiti State ADP excos led by Chief Kunle Abegunde, his family, friends, women groups, students, the media and party faithful across the 16 local governments in the state.

Adewale lamented that he was “deserted by polling unit agents, some party excos and the deputy governorship candidate, Anthonia Omonusi, who defected to APC because of money two days to the election.

“They compromised and gave out information about the campaign to opposition.

“It is sad that the same people went ahead spreading propaganda that I have defected to APC which made thousands of my supporters not to cast their votes for ADP.

“Even though there are reports of voters inducement, Ekiti must move forward. Yesterday is gone, today is another day, Let’s work towards a better tomorrow for our dear Ekiti”, the candidate said.

Adewale congratulated the governor-elect, Dr. John Kayode on his electoral victory, charging him to implement people-oriented projects that will have direct impact in the lives of the Ekiti Ketes.

The ADP chieftain charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to review its voting method and adopt a full secret ballot system, where voters will drop ballot paper into the box inside the voting cubicle.

National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, made this known in Abeokuta while addressing journalists after a meeting between the executive members of the party in Ogun and the PDP NWC.

The Chairman, who described Obasanjo as a “warrior” who had fought many battles, explained that the consultation had become necessary to get direction from the former president and tap from his wealth of experience.

Despite explanations by the Federal Government on how the Abacha recovered loot will be spent, Secondus picked holes in its management, alleging it was being arbitrarily distributed instead of being budgeted for.

The disbursement of the money to poor and vulnerable Nigerians, according to the Vice President, will begin this July.

Maryam Uwais, who heads the Social Investment Programme of the Federal Government explained recently that the Federal Government and the World Bank had signed an agreement to use the money to fund the SIP.

But NAN quoted Secondus as saying: “Mother of all corruption is happening under Buhari’s government.

“This is the first time a government in Nigeria, not even under the military, that cash will be withdrawn from the bank and distributed to party cronies.

”The Abacha returned loot is being shared by the incumbent government, without putting it in the budget,” he alleged.

Secondus gave assurance that the party would win the Saturday governorship election in Ekiti state.

The PDP chairman, who alleged that there were plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to take Ekiti state by force, said ” no amount of intimidation can subvert the will of the people.”

It is, however, not clear if the meeting is connected to the allegation.

PoliticsWhy I’m A Slow Reader – Buhari by 1Ebiscoo(op): 9:03pm On Jul 12, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari has admitted to being a very slow reader.

The President anchored his claim on the fact that he is an ex-soldier.

Buhari made the disclosure while explaining his delay in signing the $3 trillion African Free-Trade Agreement, during a joint press conference with the visiting South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa.

According to Buhari, “I am very careful about what I sign, whether it is my cheque book or agreements, especially when it involves nations and states. As your President has said, we are so populated and have so many young unemployed citizens and our industries are just coming up.

“So, in trying to guarantee employment, goods and services in our country, we have to be careful with agreements that will compete, maybe successfully, against our upcoming industries.

“I was presented with the document; I am a very slow reader maybe because I am an ex-soldier. I didn’t read it fast enough before my officials saw that it was all right for signature. I kept it on my table. I will soon sign it.”

PoliticsExemption Certificate Allegedly Issued To Adeosun Fake – Ex-nysc Director by 1Ebiscoo(op): 10:48am On Jul 12, 2018
A former Director of Mobilisation at the National Youth Service Corps, Anthony Ani, says the certificate of exemption purportedly issued by the NYSC to the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, is fake.

Ani said this during an interview on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme, on Wednesday,Punch reports

He said,

“The NYSC cannot issue that kind of certificate. Yes, the one reported by Premium Times. We could not have issued that type.”

Ani added,

“The certificate that I saw, that one that I saw if it is the one that they are talking about, the one I saw online, it was not issued by NYSC. I don’t know who issued it. It was not issued by NYSC because what I saw there, the signatory to that certificate was our DG (Gen. Bomoi) who left in January and Gen. Tsiga took over from Gen Bomoi.

“Tsiga was a sitting DG even as of that September 2009. So, I don’t know where her certificate came from but NYSC cannot make that kind of mistake. The NYSC that I served, I know can never make that kind of mistake.”

He said it was impossible for the NYSC to have issued a certificate of exemption to someone who graduated below the age of 30.

Ani maintained that the only persons exempted from service were those who had served in the police, military or graduated above the age of 30.

The former NYSC director said a person who was 60 years of age would be made to serve if he or she graduated below the age of 30.

He added, “If you are above 30 even by one day, you will be exempted but if you are below 30 or you are 30 at the time of graduation, you will be deployed.

“It is not possible to be exempted if you graduated below 30 because it is against the NYSC Act.”

Responding to a question, he said, “So, even if you graduate at the age of 20 and you are in the United States and you have not made yourself available to be mobilised, whenever you come back even if you are 60 years, you have to undergo the NYSC.”

Ani noted that it was a crime for anyone to present a forged NYSC certificate to an employer.

He said all employers were mandated to demand NYSC certificates before hiring graduates.

CrimeHow Khadijat Oluboyo Was Killed – Boyfriend Confesses by 1Ebiscoo(op): 9:09pm On Jul 11, 2018
Saidu-Shakiru Adeyemi, the boyfriend of Miss Khadijat Oluboyo, the slain daughter of Lasisi Oluboyo, former deputy governor of Ondo State, has denied involvement in her death.

DAILY POST had reported that, Oluboyo, the 25 year-old final year student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, was found dead at the home of her boyfriend in Akure.

Khadijat was found dead in Alao’s residence on Sunday.

Adeyemi denied involvement in Oluboyo’s death when he faced journalists at the headquarters of the Ondo State Police Command on Wednesday in Akure.

According to him, it was the slain girl that brought two boys into his room, who eventually killed her.

Adeyemi explained that he had dated Oluboyo for four years before they parted ways in 2015, and that they only reconciled after the last Ramadan celebration.

Adeyemi, who completed his National Youth Service in 2017, said he had no reason to kill her because he hoped to use her father’s connection to secure job.

He said that Oluboyo came to his house on Thursday because of her project which he was helping her to do.

According to him, they had finished chapter one and her supervisor had already approved it and she came for final correction so that she could move to chapter two.

He explained further that the girl later travelled to Lagos on Friday to buy some wrist watches but she forgot to drop her project with him.

“Meanwhile, on Saturday she snapped both the soft and hard copy of her project to me on my whatsApp for correction.

“On Monday, I believed she was already in school when she sent me a text message to send her N2,000. But I was able to send only N1,000.

“So, I was surprised when I heard a knock on my door later in the day and she entered my room.

“She later told me that she wanted to receive some visitors in my place, and few minutes later she brought two boys in. I was not surprised because that was not her first time to bring someone to my house.

“Later when they came in, we exchanged greetings and I left them in the room. But after 30 minutes, one of the boys called me in and I discovered he held a small gun in his hand while the other boy was on her, naked.

“And I heard Khadijat saying ‘I will not tell anybody’. The boy strangled her to death and threatened me not to shout or else they would kill me.

“They later forced me to find a digger with which they dug the ground in my room and buried her

“They are the ones that killed and buried her. I could not shout after they left because of the implication of what has happened, for I was sure nobody would believe me.

“On the fifth day, I was not comfortable anymore, so I exhumed her body and confided in my younger brother who advised that we should inform our father about the development.

“It was my father who informed the police before I was arrested,” Adeyemi said.

Mr Femi Joseph, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command who paraded Adeyemi with other suspects, said he would soon be charged to court after completion of investigation.

He made the allegation during Tuesday’s governorship rally in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

The former Governor of Lagos State also accused the PDP of causing the nation’s problem through corruption.

“They are shouting that prices have gone up, we say yes because they ate the breakfast of their children.

“If you eat everything in a yam, there will be no food for the children.

“They stole all the money. They talk of high exchange rate. PDP is a party of destruction. It is ‘Poverty Development Party’’’, he said.

PoliticsNYSC Certificate: APP Drags Adeosun, Buhari, Others To Court by 1Ebiscoo(op): 1:13pm On Jul 10, 2018
The Action Peoples Party, APP, has filed a suit before the Federal High Court, Abuja, demanding the sack of the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun.

Listed as defendants in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/714/2018 were President Muhammadu Buhari; the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission.

The APP did not only pray for the removal of the minister, but also for an order directing her to refund the salaries she had received since 2015 when she was appointed as a minister and another order compelling the Federal Government to prosecute her.

The party, through its lawyer, Kingdom Okere, asked the court to, among others, declare that Adeosun “is not qualified to be appointed a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or into any other public office, having not participated in the compulsory one-year National Youth Service scheme, in view of the combined provisions of sections 11, 12,13 and 17 of the National Youth Service Act. ”

The political party also prayed the court to declare that Adeosun “is not a fit and proper person to continue to occupy the office she presently occupies having presented a fake NYSC exemption certificate and made a false, untrue and misleading statement /representation material to the National Youth Service Corps; and having breached her oath of office to uphold and defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).”

It, therefore, prayed for a consequential order directing President Buhari “who claims that his administration is fighting corruption to immediately sack or suspend Mrs Kemi Adeosun as the Minister of Finance pending investigation and her prosecution for forgery and perjury.”

The party also prayed for an order compelling “the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice and the Independent
Corrupt Practices and other related Commission, to immediately arrest and investigate the allegation of fake National Youth Service Corps exemption certificate against Mrs Kemi Adeosun; and to immediately prefer a criminal charge against Mrs Kemi Adeosun for the offence of perjury, forgery, false , misleading and untrue information in relation to her fake National Youth Service certificate of exemption.”

PoliticsDasuki: Buhari’s Ex-adc, Jokolo Blasts Sultan, Northern Elites by 1Ebiscoo(op): 7:24pm On Jul 08, 2018
A former Aide de Camp (ADC) to President Muhammadu Buhari when he was governor of old Gongola state and military head of state, Alhaji Al-Mustapha Haruna Jokolo has lambasted the Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar and Northern elites over the trial of former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd).

Last Monday, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court Abuja granted bail to Dasuki after over two and half years in the detention of the Department of the State Services (DSS).

Dasuki, who had been granted bail by four different High Courts in Nigeria and the ECOWAS Court of Justice, had filed a fundamental human rights suit against the Federal Government to obey all court orders for his release.

In an interview with The Sun, Jokolo lamented the Prince of the Sokoto caliphate’s prolonged incarceration and indifference of elites of the region on the government’s disobedience to court orders in the cases.

“We are complacent people (in the North) and sometimes hypocritical…Northerners are hypocritical. Look at the Sultan, what is he doing about it (Dasuki’s incarceration)? Is it because of personal grievances between families? Has he ever led the council of Emirs or religious groups to come and plead for Sambo?

“Instead, he was saying Buhari should go and execute looters. What kind of nonsense is that? What I am saying is that we are just not sincere at all. Southerners are at the vanguard of fighting for democracy more than the North. And that is why I don’t like being selective. If you are going to do something, do it. You did it for me.”

On the possibility of the North working underground to ensure Dasuki is released on bail with the orders of the courts, Alhaji Jokolo pointed out that they were not willing.

He said: “If they can do that why is the Sultan making noise saying that they should do this to them? Is he not the person who is supposed to help this man out? Which of these traditional rulers have you heard speaking about Dasuki’s case. What does it even take these so-called religious leaders to go and meet the president or whoever it is and tell him to release Sambo?

“If he (Sambo Dasuki) has committed an offence that requires him facing the firing squad, shoot him. Nobody will say you should not carry out any punishment pronounced by the law court. No. But the court has said release him. They did not say don’t go to court with him.
The court says release him on bail on given times.

“So, if you wont respect court order why did you go to court? Why did you appoint judges? Why did you sit down and discuss with them? Why do you speak from both sides of your mouth? On the one hand you say one thing on the next time you do different altogether. Do you think people are not intelligent?”

When asked if Sambo Dasuki would be released with the latest bail granted him after previous orders were not honoured by the Buhari government, Jokolo said: “Nobody can give anybody guarantee but we pray to God that they will be sensible to do that. Buhari is now a politician.

“But I do not think honestly that it is right to be refusing Sambo to go home after the Court has granted him bail. If we do not want Sambo around, then let’s shoot him; that’s all. We can’t continue with this. He has a family, friends and relations for God’s sake. Even his enemies are now crying out for justice.

“So, I don’t think I will accept anybody telling me now for the sixth time that he would not be allowed to go home. No. That is irresponsible and unacceptable either. Let me ask you a question. Is it because Sambo is from the North and a Muslim?”

PoliticsSaraki Persevered Through Court Processes – Buhari by 1Ebiscoo(op): 7:12am On Jul 08, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari has observed that that Senate President Bukola Saraki persevered through the course of his prosecution in the courts to establish his innocence.

In his reaction to the Senate President’s acquittal by the Supreme Court over asset declaration case, the president also observed that the country’s judicial system, no matter the challenges it faces, is truly working and no one should be allowed to undermine or break it.

A statement issued by Senior Special Assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, quoted him as saying: “I have seen many instances where individuals and groups seek the destruction of the judicial institution in the foolish thinking of saving their skin, instead of going through the painstaking process of establishing their innocence.

“In the case of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, I have seen him take the tortuous path of using the judicial process. He persevered, and in the end, the highest court of the land, the Supreme Court, says he is not guilty as charged.

“This is what I have done in the three elections in which I was cheated out, before God made it possible for me to come here the fourth time I ran for the office.”

The President said the Senate President’s journey from the lowest to the highest court of the land provides an important example for Nigerians to emulate.

The Supreme Court on Friday upheld Appeal Court’s decision discharging and acquitting the former Kwara State governor.
