This government doesn't have our interests at heart. While I understand that certain factors triggered by the pandemic might have necessitate the upward review of the electricity bill and petrol price, I think this is the wrong time to do so, considering that many businesses are just recovering from the blow dealt on them during the lockdown.

Be that as it may, we all voted for Buhari; it wouldn't have been any better if it were Atiku. So, let us all endure till 2023 and see the intensity of the sufferness the next government brings.

Breaking! Tinubu Challenges FG; Says Revenue Formula is Cumbersome
Sep 5, 2020.

By Halimah Olamide

A leader of the All Progressive Congress of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said that the current revenue allocation formula of the Federal Government is too cumbersome.
He said the formula does not reflect the true essence of fiscal federalism that it should be.

The revenue formula has to be consistent with the physical federalism of Nigeria. These were his words when he spoke at the inuaguration of the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service Office in Akure on Saturday.
Tinubu, who also spoke on the South-West security Network is in Ondo as part of efforts to shore up support for the governorship candidate of the party in the state, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu.
Tinubu said the fact that he belongs to the APC does not stop him from asking pertinent questions if they are to make things better in Nigeria.
“The revenue formula has to be consistent with the fiscal federalism of Nigeria. You can reform the reformables that are federal bottlenecks today. You can question, you can query.
"What element of stamp duty is that of federal allocation and what elements of the transactions that belong to the states and why are we involved in what should be the residual matters of the states? Why the encroachments?
"Even in the same family of twins, they do argue. They do ask questions. We wont stop to ask questions. We won’t stop to ask for the right thing for the Federal Republic of Nigeria."

On the special security outfit in the South-West, Tinubu said the network is a child of necessity saying if all are properly employed, there would be no need for Amotekun,
"I pray that you don’t need Amotekun really. Amotekun is a creation of necessity. If all are engaged, Amotekun would be a pet." he said

He said the coming election is not about Akeredolu. "It is about the future of this country," he added.

RomanceHow To Find Out If Your Relationship Is The Will Of God. by 2020Experience(op): 10:06am On Sep 05, 2020
I just came across this post while surfing and decided to share with you all, I think it’s really deep.

How to Find Out If Your Relationship is the Will of God
When you think you’ve found the right one, always remember the biblical definition of love and how Jesus gave his life for you.

So you need a sign from God to assure you that your current girlfriend (or boyfriend) is His will for you, and if she/he is the one? Here is the one of the most rock solid ways to find out.

But first, let me tell you that after 2,000 years of Jesus’ resurrection, we are mature enough as Christians to be asking for supernatural signs when in the bible God is showing us his will for almost everything for our daily lives. According to His word and to the experience of thousands of Christians around the world, here is one of the best ways to know if you have found the right person to marry (and stay married) for the rest of your life.

Here is a big question for you: Are you willing to change your way of life, and grow in every aspect you need to grow to make him/her happy? This would mean accepting him/her as who she/he really is, (don’t trust too much on the external image, you need to find out who this person really is in the inside) and then, accepting his/her family the way they are, and realizing that a marriage commitment to your loved one requires that you will have to leave behind certain things that you may not want to leave. For example, bad friendships, bad habits, etc. and I’ve seen people sacrificing careers, wealth, and some family relationships for the sake of their marriage.

You are also old enough to know that people change, beauty fades, finances will fluctuate, come and go and evaporate, temptations will come; for both you and your loved one. If you are willing to sacrifice your dreams and plans for him/her and if she/he is also willing to do so for you, then we are looking at the prospect of true love. Read in the Bible what love is. Why after many years of reading the bible and listening to sermons about biblical love, we are still stuck with the soap opera’s definition of love? Remember that, true love goes beyond sex attraction, passion, infatuation, external image etc. etc.… Some couples may say: “well, we are as happy as we can be right now the way we are and we didn’t have to sacrifice anything”, my answer is: really? And you’ve lived together for how long? Their answer is almost always the same, from just a few weeks to a few years. I desire them well, but I know challenging times will come and true love will be tested.

The bible says that true love is when she/he makes you always happy, right? No, actually that is very wrong… That’s not what the bible says and she/he is not responsible for making you happy (they will try though). You are the only one responsible to make yourself happy and stay happy. This is what the bible says about love: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…

The secret to understand this bible verse is to apply it to yourself first, and not to your loved ones first. Your love for them (and for yourself) must be kind, patient, without envy, not boasting, not proud, not delighting in evil, your love does not get angered and oh, it keeps no record of wrong, always perseveres, always protects, and oh, here is one very difficult again, your love for your loved one always trusts. Some will say, I give up, I stick to my soap opera definition of love. Others must make me happy or be dumped if they don’t… this is what’s happening to marriages and relationships all over the world. One ounce of conflict and the relationship is over… Next!

God is always in control. However, we are not his puppets, we have freedom and we can make big mistakes or make wrong choices that can bring about ugly changes in many things that we value as good and beautiful for our marriage/relationship. We make a mistake, and sometimes the beautiful things and love feelings we had end up leaving us. Money can be lost, trust can be lost, and that feeling of attachment to your loved one can be lost after a horrible mistake. (I said, the feeling of attachment can be lost, but true love will never be lost, if there was true love in the first place. True love could be hurt, and damaged, but not lost, or it wouldn’t be true, biblical love)

Of course, God forgives! God can and will restore you if you ask him, but we reap what we sow, all the time. This is a biblical truth that we tend to forget. I barely see on Facebook people sharing an image with a “you reap what you sow” phrase on it. People don’t want to be reminded over and over that they are, right at this moment, reaping and sowing, sowing and reaping, every minute, every second, everything they do has a sow and reap effect.

Also remember, Jesus said that a seed that goes down to the ground, dies. Yes, you are the seed, and sowing your seed means actually dying to your own pretty dreams of happiness and satisfaction. I know, I am to tough, but, a solid marriage starts with a good, sound concept of love and sacrifice, and a relationship with God.

So, if you are willing to sow your life for your loved one, and he/she is willing to do it for you, go ahead, you have my blessings! Go and buy the ring!!

But, if you’ve found “the one” but you are currently underage, you owe the sowing of your life to your parents or tutors. Give priority to your education, obey and honor your parents, build up sound relationships with good friends and their families, and stay away from any type of physical contact that can lead you and your “the one” to make mistakes that will affect you for the rest of your life.

Please remember, when you think you’ve found the right one, always remember the biblical definition of love and how Jesus gave his life for you. You will have to give up your life for your loved one. Yes, you will have to, in many ways. Trust me, I know, and it hurts…

Jesus said:” Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13

God bless you!

YWC To Akintoye: Retract Your Statement Or Face Litigation
POSTED ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2020 BY VICTOR ORIOLA

Our attention has been drawn to a statement attributed to one of the members of the motley groups gathered together in Ibadan to celebrate the anniversary of their election of Prof Akintoye as Yoruba leader that took place  in Ibadan in August 2019.

The statement published on the website of some national publications on Tuesday 1st of September stated among other things that the  brain behind YAF are four members of the Yoruba World Congress (YWC).

We wish to state categorically that none of our members are behind the YAF, a group unknown to YWC and whose proclamations and activities are at odds with the vision and methods of the YWC.

This declaration made by the electors of Prof Akintoye is further proof in the difference between the style and spirit of the YWC and it exemplifies why Prof Akintoye seem at ease with his Ibadan electors and not at ease with the YWC.

We are giving those that made the statement 48 hours to retract their statement in all publications print and digital or face a law suit.

The YWC is a content based global organisation populated by disciplined and principled members with a clear sense of history and that holds in high esteem the Yoruba dignity, image and unity but we shall not let our members be slandered.

The YWC wishes to reassure all its members that we shall not be derailed by anyone because our vision has been very clear before the Ibadan election of a Yoruba leader and we remain focus on the emancipation of Yoruba Nation.

Heart of a normal man is pure and innate at birth. He comes to the world and start learning different things, behavioral pattern, how to speak, how to do basic things. His environment plays a role in what he becomes.

I said heart of a normal man , I didn't say heart of an Igbo, their hearts are pre-configured to dupe, extort, trick their unsuspecting victims at birth. It is this dirt that they carry all around and they start dispersing to different geographical location, mixing and mingling with the locals, corrupting them in the process.

This pattern can be likened to the plague the world is facing now, COVID-19, you know the story of where it started, it was not contained within the demographic space it was discovered, and boom! It becomes a pandemic. Igbos are like that virus corrupting other tribes wherever they go.

Fear Arises As Research Reveals Human Male Specie May Be Extinct In Some YearsPublished 9 hours ago on 02.09.2020 By Faderera Falade

There are fears that men may become really scarce soon as the male-determining Y chromosome could be dying out, with far fewer genes than the X and research suggests it’s gradually shrinking.

Ideally, a person’s sex is determined by whether they have two X chromosomes (which causes ovaries to develop) or an X and a Y (which results in testes).

Approximately, X chromosomes have 1,000 genes, while Y has just 45 and research suggests the Y chromosome is really shrinking.

Genes develop mutations over time, some of which are harmful. Chromosome can avoid passing on such harmful mutations by mixing and matching with each other during meiosis — the stage of foetal development during which our forming bodies develop sperm or eggs.

This process breaks up the genes and makes it more likely that only strong, non-harmful ones get passed on.

But, only X chromosomes can swap with each other, as Y isn’t similar enough to combine.

Due to the fact that individuals don’t (generally) have two Y chromosomes, Y can’t recombine with itself.

Therefore, over millions of years of evolution the Y chromosomes shrink.

Research conducted by Jennifer Graves, a geneticist at La Trobe University in Melbourne, suggests that 166 million years ago the Y chromosome had a similar number of genes as X, approximately 1,669.

“So it doesn’t take a great brain to realise that if the rate of loss is uniform —10 genes per million years — and we’ve only got 45 left, the whole Y will disappear in 4.5 million years,” she told Live Science.

However, losing the Y chromosome completely is still a possibility, as it has proved in other species, which includes underground rodents known as mole voles, as well as certain species of spiny rats in Japan.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that men are doomed, as the loss of the Y chromosome doesn’t erase the male sex from a species as both spiny rats and mole voles still have males and females.

Rasmus Nielsen, a geneticist at the University of California, Berkeley said “People think that sex is sort of a very determined thing,”.

“That if you have a Y chromosome, then you’re a man, or you don’t have [a] Y chromosome, then you’re female. But it doesn’t work like that.”

“In truth, 95% of genes that are expressed differently between males and females don’t actually live on the X and Y chromosomes.

“Losing the Y chromosome doesn’t mean losing the male,” Nielsen explained.

If the Y chromosome was to vanish, another gene would likely take over as the main determinant of sex during human development.

Global condemnation rains down on Saudi Arabia over hellish detention centres for African migrants (Video)
Sep 1, 2020 8:37 PM

The Gulf state says it will investigate conditions as video evidence emerges showing migrants fighting back raw sewage

Saudi Arabia has agreed to investigate following a Sunday Telegraph investigation which revealed the Gulf State is keeping hundreds if not thousands of African migrants locked in cramped and unhygienic detention centres as part of a drive to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Conditions in the centres are so bad that people are dying, and the images smuggled out have been compared to those of slave camps.

The Telegraph have gone ahead to publish video images from inside one of the detention centres. It shows raw sewage spilling across the floor in an area in which those detained have to sleep and eat.

“Please help us”, one of those in the video is heard pleading. “Watch this and do something for us,” says another.

The investigation, first published on Sunday, has sparked a whirlwind of condemnation and criticism around the world from human rights groups, politicians, and Black Lives Matters activists.

The British government said it was “very concerned” and the official opposition called for immediate action from the Saudi authorities.

“Emerging evidence of the shocking conditions in which African migrants are being held in Saudi detention centres is deeply disturbing and demands immediate action,” said Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister, Stephen Doughty.

“The Saudi Government must bring an immediate end to this appalling practice and permit access for independent health and human rights experts. It is vital that those being detained are held in line with international migration law and treated with the dignity and compassion they deserve.”

“UK Government Ministers must immediately raise this worrying situation with their counterparts in Saudi Arabia, particularly in light of the country’s historically poor record on protecting and upholding human rights,” Mr Doughty added.

The story has sparked outrage across Africa and the Middle East, and has featured prominently on Al Jazeera and other Arabic media channels.

A spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres told The Telegraph, said the UN was also investigating.

A spokesperson for the UN’s International Office of Migration (IOM) in Geneva said that they were “deeply concerned about the troubling images of Ethiopian migrants detained in Saudi Arabia, in apparently inhumane conditions.”

IOM added that the overcrowded, unsanitary centres raise human rights concerns, and warned they could be a “breeding ground” for fatal diseases. The Telegraph has located two of the detention centers and today published satellite images showing their exact location.

Graphic mobile phone images sent to the newspaper by migrants held inside the detention centres show dozens of emaciated men crippled by the heat lying half-naked in packed rows in small rooms with barred windows.

Many have not been outside for five months since they were rounded up by Saudi security forces in April as part of a drive to stop the spread of coronavirus.

One image, too graphic to publish, shows a young man hanged from a window grate. The adolescent killed himself after losing hope, say his friends.

Other migrants, some of whom display scars on their bodies and disfiguring skin infections on their faces, claim they are regularly beaten and racially abused by the prison guards.

Saudi Arabia, a member of the UN’s Human Rights Council, told The Telegraph in a statement that “the images are of course shocking and unacceptable to us as a country”.

The Saudi government said it was “looking into the state of all official government facilities in light of the allegations,” it added.

The statement, which was sent to the newspaper by the Saudi Arabian embassy in London, said: “If facilities are found to be lacking their needs will be addressed appropriately.”

Saudia Arabia sought to shift part of the blame for the scandal to Ethiopia, home to many of those being held. “We believe there are about 20,000 Ethiopian immigrants who recently crossed the border into Saudi via Yemen and their repatriation is being negotiated with the Ethiopian government.

“Sadly, the Ethiopian authorities have refused their re-entry under the claim of not being able to provide adequate quarantine facilities upon their arrival,” Saudia Arabia added.

A high ranking Ethiopian minister denied the government had any knowledge of the dreadful conditions the migrants were being held in.

Mrs Tsion Teklu, Ethiopia’s Minister for Economic Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs, said that they had not received any reports from their embassies of abuse in the centres and were only made aware of the situation when The Telegraph’s article was published.

Mrs Teklu declined the opportunity to issue any formal reaction to the conditions for Ethiopian migrants in the centres but said Ethiopia would raise the issue with the Saudi government.

The African Union, which has long been criticised for standing up for the continent’s strongmen more than Africans themselves, was also approached for comment but none has been received.

BusinessThe US Government Is Planning The Creation Of A Digital Dollar Wallet By 2021. C by 2020Experience(op): 9:04am On Sep 02, 2020
The US government is planning the creation of a Digital Dollar Wallet by 2021. Could this be the end of Bitcoin?

September 2, 2020

By Nickie Louise

In early March while everyone was busy talking about coronavirus, the U.S. Senate quietly introduced a bill to create “digital currency accounts administered by the Federal Reserve.“ According to the draft, the bill will require banks to maintain pass-through digital dollar wallets for certain persons, and for other purposes.

If passed, all Federal reserve banks shall, not later than January 1, 2021, make digital wallets available to all residents and citizens of the United States and to businesses domiciled in the United States.

The Bill, which was introduced by Sen. Brown, Sherrod of Ohio, describes the term “Digital Dollar” as dollar balances consisting of digital ledger entries recorded as liabilities in the accounts of any Federal reserve bank. According to the bill, the term “digital dollar wallet” means a digital wallet or account, maintained by a Federal reserve bank on behalf of any person, for the purpose of holding digital dollar balances.

If the proposed Senate bill passes, member banks will be mandated to open and maintain pass-through digital dollar wallets for all persons, including persons eligible to receive payments from the United States pursuant to a Federal law relating to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID–19), who elect to deposit funds into pass-through digital dollar wallets.

The concept of the Digital Dollar Wallet is not new. It has been going on for years. The idea started to gain steam after the U.S. Federal Reserve started investigating the use of distributed ledger technologies (DLT) and how they might be used for digitizing the dollar. In early August, Federal Reserve Board Governor Lael Brainard said the U.S. central bank has been experimenting distributed ledger technologies over the past several years, to study what a digital currency might do to the existing payments ecosystem, monetary policy, financial stability, and the banking sector.

At the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Innovation Office Hours on August 13, Brainard Said:

“With these important issues in mind, the Federal Reserve is active in conducting research and experimentation related to distributed ledger technologies and the potential use cases for digital currencies.”

Brainard added:

More broadly, banks, fintech companies, and technology firms are all exploring the use of innovative technologies to enhance payments efficiency, expand financial inclusion, speed up settlement flows, and reduce end-user costs. Digital currencies, including central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), present opportunities but also risks associated with privacy, illicit activity, and financial stability. The introduction of Bitcoin and the subsequent emergence of stablecoins with potentially global reach, such as Facebook’s Libra, have raised fundamental questions about legal and regulatory safeguards, financial stability, and the role of currency in society. This prospect has intensified calls for CBDCs to maintain the sovereign currency as the anchor of the nation’s payment systems. Moreover, China has moved ahead rapidly on its version of a CBDC.

The bill further adds that the proposed Digital Dollar Wallet “shall provide functionality and service levels no less favorable than those that the member bank offers for its existing transaction accounts, including with respect to debit cards, automated teller machines, online account access, automatic bill-pay, mobile banking, customer service, and such other services as the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System determines appropriate in the public interest, provided that digital dollar wallets shall not include overdraft coverage.”

Unlike charges on traditional bank accounts, Digital dollar wallets will not be subject to any account fees, minimum balances, or maximum balances, and shall pay interest at a rate, not below the greater of the rate of interest on required reserves and the rate of interest on excess reserves.

So, what does it all mean for Bitcoin, the world’s most popular cryptocurrency, and other digital currencies? Currently, some of the big obstacles to Bitcoin’s mainstream adoption are volatility and lack of government backing. The proposed Digital Dollar will have none of these. So, the question is: How would this affect the future of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies out there? Are they doomed to fail?

PoliticsSenators Vow To Reject Water Resources Bill. by 2020Experience(op): 6:05pm On Sep 01, 2020
By Sanni Onogu, Abuja
Senators Tuesday vowed to reject a proposed Water Resources Bill when it is presented to the Senate.

The Bill which has already scaled first reading in the House of Representatives has continued to generate controversy.

There are however indications that the Bill would likely be presented to the Senate on resumption from their current break on September 15.

Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, told reporters in Abuja that even though the Bill is yet to surface on the floor of the Senate, it would not be allowed to see the light of day when it is eventually presented.

“We have not seen it in the Senate. When it comes we will reject as before,” Abaribe said in a terse text message in reply to an enquiry on the Bill by a reporter in Abuja.

On her part, Senator Biodun Olujimi, said Senators would not support any Bill that may be injurious to Nigerians.

Olujimi told reporters during an interview in Abuja that Senators would stand up against any legislation capable of disrupting the fragile peace in the country.

She said: “The truth is that I am not aware of that Bill at all. However, anything that will injure our people, some of us will never be part of it.
