Well, knowing before you deeply commit into the upbringing of the child is good but if I eventually know after the children are grownups and I have spent so much investing in them, they are automatically my kids o! I would not for heaven and earth let them go anywhere because it does not take one night to switch of the mentality that they are yours and the time you have invested in them. My love for them would not change, neither would my actions towards them because they were and are oblivious. The person who would take the full wrath of the heat is their mother.

I second your comment. The researcher related his inference or assumption based on the subjects(couples) that presented for DNA tests. The error here is that men who request to have DNA tests done must have reasonable suspicion of their wives/girlfriends hence the alarming result of 40 percent. In cases where the men have no reason to suspect a foul play by their spouses the result will definitely be different.

In a similar study if you check the result of people who present for HIV tests after unprotected sex with multiple partners(suspicion) you will find the result higher than another group who presents for same test routinely without undue exposure(no reason for suspicion) to unprotected sex. It is wrong for the present this result to the public because it is not a controlled experiment.

Paternity fraud has been on since time immemorial...

Women no dey fear ni. Why would anyone jeopardize the future of a family unit by doing that? Yorubas will say ' a seemingly settled home is so because the bastard there has not matured' .Anyway, I feel the idea behind choosing to marry a guy with some certain features will be defected if he's not allowed to pass them on to the next generation. There is no justification to that without the husband's knowledge. It's not love, but pure wickedness.There should be no secret in marriage, it's no longer two entity but one, decisions must be discussed and reached by the couple.
Am not in any way saying that it is justifiable to ever do such without the husbands consent but sometimes the man refuses to seek medical help and the woman is left confused coupled with pressure from society which is massive on the women's side!!

Then I think you should start by running a Dna test on yourself, if it happens that you are your father's son then your mum is among the faithful ones.
So there is always an exemption, its not good to generalise.

The pressure from the society shouldn't make a married woman/man cheat.Truth is, a husband that knows he has fertility issue will be surprise if his wife takes in.Most husbands feels they are OK, hence they train other people's kids without any knowledge of their true paternity. A woman who feels her husband is infertile shouldn't cheat to conceive. That's why good communication is encouraged in marriage. Couples should he able to sit and discourse that which is affecting them, seeking and implementing lasting solutions to their problems.

Surprise. ....not! My sister's neighbour just discovered that his kids are not his. In fact they are his brother's kids. It happens that when the brother (victim) was looking for a wife, his other brother (culprit?) Introduced his own ex girlfriend to him, things worked out well, she was brought over here and viola, they got married.....Unfortunately.

The unsuspected husband didn't have a clue that his brother and the babe were once an item, and still an item, knacking akpako and breeding kids behind him.....3 good kids!
Well, the cover was blown off when one gossip bird whispered to the guy, O boy, you need go do DNA test on your kids, the guy asked why, the bird said DNA has got the all the answers you need.
Lovelies, the result came out with NO MATCH and this man's world came crashing like a a pack of cards. The three kids are his brother's! The guy (culprit) took off to only God knows where, the lady was tied and bundled back to Nigeria, court asked the husband what he would like to do, especially with those innocent kids, he took the kids back, after all they know him as their dad, they have called him dad all their lives. Again it's still the same bloodline.

This is another eye opener for all these guys in diaspora. They always have this stupid idea that Nigerian sisters ( Naija residents)are cool headed and the best thing since slice bread, that has ever happened to them, no wahala...Continue* in Dame'voice* but one thing is sure, they will keep Peperring una eyes.

40% sounds high - if these figures are based upon global trends then the figure should range from 10% - 30%

I've heard figures as high as 30% in America - http://www.wnd.com/2006/02/34861/

10% is the most frequent claim - http://www.canadiancrc.com/Newspaper_Articles/Globe_and_Mail_Moms_Little_secret_14DEC02.aspx

Even 10% may be an overestimation for many communities.
