The police yesterday stopped a one-million man march in support of the APC presidential candidate, retired General Muhammadu Buhari in Kano.

The march was organised under the platform of the Buhari Youth Organisation (BYO) for supporters to march across the city in solidarity with Buhari.
Kano is considered the largest voter base for Buhari in northern Nigeria. Hours to the event, the police issued a circular advising the organisers to stop the march and instead, hold it indoors.

They told the organisers that there should be no marching out of the venue in accordance with “a directive from above”.

The organisation had received four letters from the police command. The first conveyed approval by the Commissioner of Police for a March 13 request in respect of a notification for a political summit and a road march from the Sani Abacha Stadium to the Buhari Campaign Office along Maiduguri road.

The last letter came hours before the event saying the commissioner, based on a directive from the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Department of Operations Force Headquarters Abuja, had cancelled the procession.

“However, you can only hold the summit within the Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium on same date. The command regrets the inconveniences this might cause you”, the letter said. All the letters were signed by DCP Ibrahim S. Ka’oje
BYO North-west zonal coordinator, Engr. Garba Umar, said:

“To our surprise they told us that we should not march out so we decided to march into this venue (Sani Abacha Stadium). Initially, they asked us to shift the march to Monday and we told them no because we wanted to hold it on Saturday but they said we had to shift it today (Sunday). They said it was a directive from above”.

If it's because of security threat there's no problem but if it's otherwise and another handiwork of Jonathan then his plan already failed

because millions have been marching for him since March 1st!!

Victory is sure!!!!

Why the march. Anyone in his senses will know that it may end up violently. Let them look for another means of campaigning

Knowing the volatile nature of Kano & how fanatic the indigenes & residents of Kano are, organising the march was an error in the first instance as it can degenerate into violence & destruction of peoples property.

Holding a rally at stadium should be enough for them & easier for securitymen to handle, a street march in Kano now can be an explosive venture & the police is right cancelling it.

One million march or no one million march, Kano just like other NE/NW states, is a no-go area for PDP/GEJ.

GEJ forcefully took over a stadium when they told him it was under construction

Buhari was prevented from using a venue in Kaduna state and no body is saying anything about it

Records are still intact, Judgement day is coming

Just imagine the kind of trash coming out the head of a supposed married business man. The crude and uncouth wife of the president makes terrible gaffes and the next thing, you find people whom you assume would know better taking the idiocy to another level.

Smh.

I don't think organizing a one million man March in Kano is a wise idea due to the security situation. Whether they match or not...................

Muhammadu Ilufemiloye Ikechukwu Bassey Buhari is our next President.

Looks like Gej postponed the elections thinking March 28 will never come.
I wonder when an incumbent started getting scared ahead of elections like this.

I did not offer one fvcker. My only fear is the kind of terrible upbringing you might be giving some innocent kids under your care. I cringe in horror of what they would grow up to become. You re a threat to your own children if God was merciful enough to have given you one.

Degenerate abuser. I wonder how a woman manages to cope with a man of
such basic intellect and low standards like you.
