Only God knows how soon.

Sometimes I here about some procurement for the military and wonder where the funds will come from. The 3 armed forces are all getting a facelift.

How much is in the ECA compared to what is being bought?

I don't know any other thing coming from US apart from Tucano.

Beegeagle likes to speculate, and most of the time his speculations are wrong.

I don't think anybody knows what we are getting from Germany, it could be engines for the LST, it could also be a new vessel, it could also still be nothing.

But Beegeagle sourced his comment from this statement.

GAGDI ON FOREIGN OVERSIGHT DUTY, INSPECTS LST 100 WARSHIP OF THE NIGERIAN NAVY IN AJMAN STATE OF THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATE.

In pursuance of his legislative function to oversee activities of the Nigerian Navy, and his innate desire for a robust Navy and improved security of Nigerian waterways, the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Navy, Rt Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi was in Ajman State of United Arab Emirate to inspect a Warship of the Nigerian Navy under construction by Albwarsdy Damen, a reputable warship Construction Company in the UAE.

The lawmaker, who inspected the multimillion dollar project, was taken round the facilities of the company in order to further appreciate the technical competence of the company to deliver the project.

Tagged LST 100 Warship, the project is expected to be completed on the 18th May, 2021 and be delivered to the Nigerian Navy on 9th March, 2022. The project was at 75 percent completion when the parliamentarian inspected the Warship. Meanwhile, the company has assured of a timely delivery of the Warship in accordance with the terms of the contract without let or hindrance of any kind.

The essence of the foreign oversight inspection of the facility was to ensure finances appropriated for the Nigerian Navy are expended as provided in the budgetary allocation of the armed force.

Expressing delight with the quality of the project, the lawmaker maintains that Nigerian Navy has been one of the most vibrant armed forces in Nigeria, with a near excellent performance record; hence the need to encourage them with the required facilities for optimal discharge of their responsibilities.

The lawmaker had earlier in 2020, led his committee members to oversight visit of all Naval formations across Nigeria in order to be fully abreast with the successes, challenges and future projections of the Nigerian Navy, thereby capping the oversight duty with visits to various ongoing projects of the armed force outside the shores of Nigeria.

Foreign oversight visits to other projects of the Nigerian Navy in the US, Germany, South Africa and UK are in the offing.

Gagdi is expected to be back in the country on Friday, 8th January 2021.

There are rumors of NN getting a ship from Germany but the funny thing is that no one as ever mentioned the type/class of the ship .

Well I like the way you discard rumors until something concrete shows up. But to be sincere with ourselves, Nigerian lawmakers can't go to Germany and US for site visit even if they are supplying parts for the LST because that contract is not between NN and the suppliers.

Let's assume Germany is supplying engine for the LST what will US be supplying?

My major challenge with these rumours is, how do you hide a purchase of a ship, Frigate or Corvette?

The only new ships apart from the confirmed LST and NNS Lana I know are a brief mention of an OPV purchase by Thisday newspapers and a possible new order for a new ship from Navy monthly.

Now for the statement from the lawmaker, we cannot afford US ships, they will also not sell to us, except in the event they are transferring a decommissioned ship, Nigeria has never bought a ship from America before, so why now all of a sudden?

This rules out America.

Germany is also out of it for me because when you place an order for military equipment from Germany, 90% of the time that contract is made public. Germany is not Israel.

It's easy to do those hide, hide deals in many countries apart from Germany, and the US.

All the same, I'll be very delighted if we get new ships from either Germany or the US, but I find it unlikely.

KDSG Security Update: Friday 12th March 2021

180 rescued, several students missing following attack at Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, Afaka, Igabi LGA

Troops of the Nigerian Army in the early hours of today, Friday, 12th March 2021 rescued 180 citizens, many of them students, at the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, Afaka, Igabi local government area of Kaduna State.

The armed bandits in large number had attacked the institution at around 11:30pm on Thursday and kidnapped several students and staff.

The armed bandits broke into the institution by breaching a perimeter fence. They then encroached about 600 meters to attack the first facility.

The Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs on receiving a distress call, alerted the 1 Division Nigerian Army and the Air Training Command of the Nigerian Air Force.

Troops of the Nigerian Army immediately moved to the school and engaged the armed bandits accordingly.

The troops successfully rescued 180 citizens; 42 female students, eight staff and 130 male students. However, about 30 students, a mix of males and females, are yet to be accounted for.

Some of the rescued students were injured and presently receiving medical attention at a military facility.

Pictures of some of the rescued persons, and the broken perimeter fence, are attached to this update.

Receiving the report, Governor Nasir El-Rufai thanked the troops for their swift response and the rescue of the 180 citizens. He also wished the injured students a speedy recovery.

As at the time of this update, a combined team of Army, Air Force, Police and DSS troops are conducting an operation to track the missing students.

Citizens will be updated on emerging developments.

EXPOSED: How Nigerian Army, Kaduna Government Lied About Rescuing 172 Abducted Students, 8 Others - Sahara Reporters

The Nigerian army didn’t rescue 180 students and staff allegedly kidnapped by bandits at the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna as claimed by the state government, SaharaReporters has gathered.

Bandits had on Thursday night invaded the school and abducted some student.

However, Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in the state in a statement on Friday claimed 42 female students, 130 male students and eight staff members were rescued by Nigerian soldiers.

“Troops of the Nigerian Army in the early hours of today, Friday, 12th March 2021 rescued 180 citizens, many of them students, at the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Igabi local government area of Kaduna State.

“Receiving the report, Governor Nasir El-Rufai thanked the troops for their swift response and the rescue of the 180 citizens. He also wished the injured students a speedy recovery.

“As at the time of this update, a combined team of Army, Air Force, Police, and DSS troops are conducting an operation to track the missing students.

“Citizens will be updated on emerging developments,” the statement had read.

However, one of the students said to have been rescued by the military, told SaharaReporters that the soldiers only counted those who came out of hiding after the bandits had left and moved them to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) campus, which is close to the institution.

He said the gunmen, numbering about 80, broke into the school premises through its perimeter fence at the back.

He added that the bandits attacked the male hostel not far from the fence before heading to the female hostel, where they kidnapped most of their victims.

“They lied, how did they rescue people that were not kidnapped at all? They arrived at the school about 30 minutes after the gunmen had left. So who were those rescued by them?

“They came and moved those of us who went into hiding when the bandits attacked us to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) campus and claimed they rescued us. How? They didn’t meet the bandits when they came here talkless of engaging (let alone engage) them in a gun battle.
“It was after the bandits had left with those kidnapped that they arrived, then they counted those of us they met on the campus and moved us away,” the student told SaharaReporters.

Gunmen who abducted 39 students from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in Afaka, Igabi local government area of Kaduna state have demanded N500 million for the release of the students whom the Kaduna state government says comprise 23 females and 16 males.

Three parents of some of the abducted students have confirmed to our correspondents that the abductors have reached out and made a demand of N500 million for their release.

This is also as the kidnappers have released three videos showing the students in what appeared to be a forest area.

Kaduna State Government is yet to respond to the videos and ransom demand as the state Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan did not respond to calls and text messages sent to his phone.

However, Governor Nasir El-Rufai had in an interview with Channels TV and monitored by Daily Trust, on Friday ruled out the possibility of paying ransom or negotiating with the bandits.

Social media account of students

Using the abducted students Facebook accounts, the gunmen released three videos showing the students surrounded by gunmen in military uniform flogging them.

Some of the students earlier rescued from the college identified their friends and schoolmates from the videos to our correspondents.

In the first video released on Friday at 1:07pm through the Facebook account of Kelvita K. Dan, the 30 seconds video showed the abducted students in what appeared to be a forest area following which the gunmen pointed at a man in a red shirt and asked him to speak. “My name is Abubakar Yakubu,” he said.

“A student of Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation Kaduna. I am appealing to the Governor of Kaduna state, the state government and Federal government,” before the video ended.

Kelvita’s Facebook post appealed to the Nigerian government to come to their rescue by paying the N500 million demanded by their abductors.

She stated: “Please we really need your help, they are asking for N500 million.”

Roll call of students

Daily Trust reports that as soon as the second and third videos were posted through the Facebook page of Tasha Sandra, some of the students earlier rescued by the military burst into tears as they pointed out their friends and schoolmates.

Miracle Jacob, who sobbed uncontrollably, identified 11 of the abducted students from the video and gave their names as:

Rose Okoye,
Kauna Daniel,
Blessing Babale,
Regina John,
Rachel Adejimo,
Benson Emmanuel,
Susan Jatau,
Amina Yusuf Sale,
Jamila Yusuf Sale,
Sarah and Maman Ahmed.

Most of the female students were unclad with only wrappers tied around their chest while majority of the male students were shirtless.

She said one of the schoolmates they call Maman Ahmed was six months pregnant while Rose Okoye was preparing for her wedding.

In the second video posted around 11:30 am on Saturday, the gunmen were seen flogging the students while they screamed and appealed to the government to come to their rescue.

“Our life is in danger, just give them what they want,” some of the students screamed.

Others said: “They should just pay the ransom and allow us to go, our parents need us.”

The third video showed a gun pointed to a man identified as Benson Emmanuel who appealed to the government to secure their release.

“Most of us here have been badly injure, time is going, most of us here are having health issues and they are complaining about the government trying to send security operatives to come and rescue us which is almost impossible, because they have surrounded us saying anybody that comes from anywhere to try to rescue us or do anything by force, they are going to take our lives.”

“We are appealing to government to come now that is early because these people have bad mind towards us, we are appealing to the government to help us,” he said.

In the video, the voice of one of the bandits could be heard in Hausa saying a female should be allowed to speak and the camera was panned to a woman identified as Maman Ahmed.

Speaking in Hausa, she said: “Salamu alaikum, I am one of the students that were abducted from Forestry Mechanisation the day before yesterday. We are appealing to the government to help us. We heard they are saying that they will send soldiers to rescue us, we are urging them not to send anyone because they have assured us that if soldiers come, none of us will return home,” she said.

National Security Adviser (NSA) Major General Babagana Monguno (Rtd) that monies meant for the purchase of arms may have been misappropriated by the immediate ex-Service Chiefs.

Monguno, who made the disclosure in an interview with the Hausa Service of the BBC, further stated the new Service Chiefs have not seen the arms bought by their predecessors.

General Tukur Yusuf Buratai bought a second choice property in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, days after his appointment as Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), an investigation by SaharaReporters has revealed.

As this news website exclusively revealed last week, General Buratai and his two wives in 2013 paid the sum of 1,498,534.00 AED (N120 million/$419,000) for the first property, Project TFG Marina Hotel Unit 2711. Sale documents indicated that the first property was handed over to the Buratais on January 13, 2013.

On July 13, 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed General Buratai as Chief of Army Staff. Our investigations show that, within 11 days of his appointment, the general was making arrangements for the purchase of a second property from the same company in Dubai. Our investigators obtained evidence that, between July 24 and August 17, 2015, General Buratai paid a total sum of N42.2 million into TFG Sigma 111’s account in Nigeria (Skye Bank 1770380452).

Evidence exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters reveal that General Buratai made N10 million payments on July 24 and August 7 respectively. Three days later, another N10 million was paid into the real estate firm’s account, The phone number on the Skye Bank teller is 08033349740 Saharareporters investigations shows that it belonged to a Nigerian Army Major Emmanuel G. Adegbola of the Nigerian Army Finance Corps (N/10808). On August 17, 2015, the Chief of Army Staff paid the sum of N3,270,000 into the account.
Purchase documents for General Buratai’s first property in Dubai showed that the COAS and his wives paid for Project Marina Hotel Unit 2711 in one lump, instead of by installments. Their single payment earned them what the sellers, Sigma 111, called “incentives, promotions and early payment bonus.” Owing to the lump payment, the sellers shaved off AED 43,466 from the AED 1,542,000 that was the asking price for the property. General Buratai paid AED 1,498,534 for the first property.

The cash lodgments into Sigma 111 Skye Bank account also suggested that General Buratai did not buy the second property three years ago, as Colonel Usman claimed. The dates of the payment showed that money started gushing into the account eleven days after Buratai’s appointment as Chief of Army Staff.

Then keep the schools closed, until the security problem is solved. They already know that kidnapping school children is the fastest way to make money.
Kidnappers down south will soon follow the method of kidnapping school children.

Though I don't agree with you. But, it shows how useless the saying "most of the military installations and their academies are located in the North is because the south is protected by the sea". nah big rubbish( I don't remember the exact words sha, but is almost like that cool.

The Armed Forces Command and Staff College(This is an Institution that includes the Army, Navy and Airforce), The Army School of Artillery is also located in Jaji.

And I don't need to say much about Kaduna has a whole. That's the home of 1 Division.

Schools do not have to be closed down. Just scrap boarding schools. Let the students come from their homes every morning and return every afternoon. Virtually all these abductions were done late at night or early in the morning when it is still dark.

And then let all schools have a direct line of communication with the military garrison closest to it so that the military can swing into action immediately an attack is reported.

The sad thing about all these is that some people predicted this and had recommended the above to the FG since 2014 after the chibok incidence. But we all know how we treat researches and recommendations from researchers in this country.

There is a sector of Health called school health and their are international recommendations as to how a school should be, including matters partaining to security of schools. But that doesn't mean anything to us here.

Earlier today ISWAP posted more photos from Alagarno, some used already in al-Naba (first and third photo). I decided not to post the photo of a captured soldier (what a poor man).
Unless my count is incorrect, ISWAP released visual evidence of at least 5 destroyed Phantom 2s. https:///55SKPQvTSz

I also heard some soldiers were ambushed in monguno.. Boko ha ram claimed. 33 soldiers was killed. ( propaganda)

Buratai go dey reason like this before he became the COAS, when he got there, he failed woefully.

Attahiru don see sample while he was the TC in Borno state, but he go still dey believe say nah Buratai no give am enough chance... Now he is in charge and failing woefully.

What am I trying to say in all this is that... Things are easier said than done.

Zamfara Governor should cover his face in shame, Bandits are not criminals undecided
All school's should be closed in the north, because they are now soft target for kidnappers

They should simply call in the minister of Nigerian bandits...Sheik Gumi to come and talk to his people.. after all he is a resident of Kaduna and no long journey is required for this...He knows where all the bandits camps are as a minister and so can deliver...!!

A Hero is gone

He fought for the integrity of our state and Nation.

Yusuf Baba Idris Commander of the Civilian Joint Task Force (#CJTF) #Baga town in Kukawa LG.

He died as a result of ambush by Boko Haram two days ago, alongside some military officers while on patrol.

#copied#

Look at the so called "Bloody civilians" cleaning up the gallant Nigerian military mess.

If the Nigerian military and police are effective, this guy will still be alive.

RIP man
