Wow. So uninformed.

WSJ, USA today and Times are the most widely read newspapers in the USA. and someone here thinks they would want to tarnish their image by publishing a fabricated story about Nigeria of all places. Something that is not even directly connected to US business affairs. I hope they draw Washington's attention on this mess.

This is stupid. So because they are widely read, they are credible. Timid mind. If Trump comes to office again and calls them mainstream media fake news peddlers you will agree.
You are not in possession of mental equipment to doubt a story about government buying off one AA gun. Why?. Is it because you are black and you think you are inferior?

Yes, if you tell them 500 hundred Boko Haram members were killed, they will not believe you, they will start demanding for videos and pictures.
Very dumb and useless people forming fake woke on social media.
The same thing happened when the military said Shekau was dead, they didn't believe until foreign news carried it.

Instead of trying to employ fallacies. Sit down and ask yourself. Why is the government repeatedly denying the act of paying bandits, when evidence keeps on growing. From sustained rumors,to a WSJ piece. Why does every bloody group with automatic rifles seem to overwhelm the government?

Why then do we have special forces? Or are they just better trained infantry. What happened to night missions, door kicking, sabotage, reconnaissance, captures and assassinations?

Think, brother think.

Many of you here like to feel smart, but are averse to criticizing own beliefs.
Just look at this one. Fake news shouldn't be debunked because?

Oga go an sit down. The only thing you can accuse us here for is not having a taste for sensationalism!

Omo bro nawa for you, it's not everything that's anti government you must jump on.
This particular one makes no atom of sense.
Wait first. Do you see asides the machine gun story, that every other piece in the story made sense? The bombings, the vigilante story? I'll tell you why I believe the entire story.

Now Buhari was meant to travel to Daura. He then cancels the trip over endSARS. It does not take a genius to figure out that endSARS cannot be the problem here. Northern Nigeria does not have a problem of anti government activism but rather banditry and terrorism. There wasn't any endSARS or police-civilian clashes in Buhari's hometown during the crisis

Now does a seized AA pose a threat? Absolutely. First, NAF must have figured out his aircraft would likely be on final or close while crossing the forest, putting him within range of the weapon. A Boeing 737 would be any easy target for any good shooter. It's not a fighter jet in any way. Another thing to note is that an aircraft has already been downed by bandits AA fire in another state, this year. Making the AA threat in Katsina now feel so real. I figured out, the AA gun in question here, has a range of 2km. That's enough to hit a jet on approach.

Any other means to destroy the gun, firstly, unlike humans who emit radiation, it would be virtually impossible to spot a Stationary gun with FLIR due to the lack of radiation, worse still, with it's small size, stationary and quiet, in a bush. You see the odds?

What of a recovery mission. As of now, I don't think the any Nigerian unit has the capacity to stage such a mission, as there's no reason to believe so. Nigeria's main advantages are still from the air. The downed aircraft in borno has not been seen yet. No mission was conducted. Of all school kidnappings, none were released through any special CT operation. Rumors have it that money have simply been exchanging hands. Even some northern governor's like El-rufai sometime mentioned that they no longer pay bandits to release children.

I hope you now see reasons why I believe so.

NB: On more reason why the endSARS story was a cover up. If Buhari could travel to south east Nigeria when anti state gunmen were on rampage? Do you think endSARS could even be a valid reason for him to cancel a trip in the first place?

A lot of dumb heads on this thread, it's very irritating.
How can an AA pose a threat to a presidential plane that fly altitude of 40,000 to 50,000 feet?
A lot of educated illiterate here acting smart.

Guy have you been to Katsina airport undecided So you mean the Airforce had information of Bandits planning to shoot down the presidential plane and no fighter jets could escort the plane grin or They couldn't surround the airport with enough security to protect the airport or arrest the bandits grin
So you will drive a AA guntruck 2km from the airport and no body will see you grin
Wow grin cheesy grin cheesy

“The mission to buy back the anti-aircraft gun began with a handoff from a high-ranking air force intelligence officer in the capital Abuja: a black zip-up bag he said was full of 20 million Nigerian naira,” the paper reported, after stating that such military hardware in the hands of bandits “posed a threat to President Muhammadu Buhari, who had been planning to fly to his hometown about 80 miles away.”
