Bura/Barbur people never supported BH since inception. When BH left Maiduguri into LGAs in Borno around 2013-2014.

Biu peeps barricaded their town and dished out hot instructions that anyone seen supporting BH ideology will be brought out and killed right in their stadium. Fathers were pointing out sons who they discovered had ideologies and members. Brothers were ready to kill brothers with such ideologies.

The Bura people of Southern Borno are like Yorubas. You will see siblings of different religion. (Islam and Christianity). The Bura people saw BH as a Kanuri expansion in Borno. You know previously it was Biu town that peeps expected to become the HQ of Borno state. cool

One of the big flops Shekau did was winning Non-Kanuri towns and making Kanuri’s the Amir(King) of such towns. The non-Kanuri’s in BH felt slighted and started pulling out and selling info to security team. This is why ISWAP is a bit smart to give Shuwa’s and Bunduma’s some leadership role to remain acceptable in all Lake Chad areas.

Another issue is the terrain the only way to access the town is through the roads in and out.you can’t attack through the sides. Shekau tried over 7times to attack, but could not succeed as the locals were giving ng the military 100% support.

Till date Biu is the only town with banks aside Maiduguri here in Borno.
Haba! no wonder! so, basically this issue of terrorism in Borno state thrives because of the support the terrorist receives from Kanuri and Shuwa locals. I had a rumour that some big men in Maiduguri do not want BH activities to end, because of the money the get from NGO's and other international organisations, is that true?

KDSG Security Update: Tuesday 19th October 2021.

Over 50 bandits neutralized by combined ground and air assault in Birnin Gwari LGA.

In an inspiring success for the security forces, over 50 bandits have been neutralized during a combined ground and air assault in the Saulawa-Farin Ruwa axis of Birnin Gwari LGA.

According to operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government from the Command of the Joint Operations, a Nigerian Air Force helicopter gunship provided close air support to ground troops advancing from the Dogon Dawa-Damari-Saulawa axis.

Following extensive scans, bandits were spotted on five motorcycles, about 4km east of Saulawa, waiting to ambush the ground forces. They were engaged vigorously by the helicopter gunship, and were wiped out.

After this, armed bandits on about 50 motorcycles were sighted fleeing towards Farin Ruwa, and were struck effectively by the gunship. Fleeing remnants were mopped up by ground forces.

A second helicopter gunship joined the operations, and many more fleeing bandits were neutralized by precise strikes. Assessment revealed that more than 50 bandits were neutralized during the joint operation.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed his satisfaction at the operational feedback, and congratulated the ground troops and gunship crews on the rout. He urged them to sustain the momentum and bring even more bandits to their bitter end.

Signed

Samuel Aruwan

Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State.

I am super excited about our current air Force offensive capabilities, the effect of these platforms on the planned offensive.
Super tucano for persistent surveillance and air interdiction ,CAS, and troops escort, our JF-17 for quick reaction strikes, mighty mi-35m for taking out rough bad guys, our UAV'S for round the clock reconnaissance, our legacy Alpha jets as force enabler and also our ATR'S for battle coordination.

True true Iswap and others go collect this time grin cheesy angry

I discovered Katsina Airport is about 60 miles from Daura. The area may not be far from Katsina Airport. If so, the story is logical then.

Taking them out one by one, in my own opinion it's the Nigeria Army that needs this helos

The A29s must be causing serious havoc, imagine 2-4 of them sitting over a battlefield for hours,or the hours long interdiction they can operate..

Things do not work like that, combat aircraft only have about 10-20(max) minutes over the target area if not refueled mid-air.

Not entirely true for Super Tucano. For aircraft stationed in Maiduguri, with weapons, I personally estimate they have 45mins to 50mins in the general area of the battle . Maybe 30mins over the specific targets.
When carrying only ISR gear, I expect even more on-station time.

Nigeria also bought the A29s in a large number to ensure that even when drop tanks are carried, enough ordnance can be carried by enough planes to achieve any set of objectives.

Why not just reactivate our Bo-105s stored at PHC for this purpose and attach airframes to special ops units (army or NAF) for insertions during their operations? It beats purchasing new MH-6s. My opinion though.

That's for pure jet engine aircrafts, super tucanos are turbo- props, very different. The tucanos have an endurance of 2.5 hrs on internal fuel and 7hrs with drop tanks.

They would. Cost is only over a million USD and these choppers are very small and agile. They extremely versatile and can be used as gunships, as well as troop carriers and medevac. I would take 10 of these choppers over a single Hind and a new Hind costs over $20 million.

Good evening house. A question: when did the Nigeria Prison Service implement their small arms upgrade? I ask for a reason. I was at the Federal High Court, Uyo, for a case. On leaving the courtroom, I came across 2 Prison Wardens armed with what looked like CZ 805 Brens (or AK-Alfa) assault rifles. I must say I was quite impressed. That's a nice upgrade from the old hand-me-down HK G3s from the Army. Can anyone else throw more light on this?

What you saw was probably the Baretta ARX 160. Next to the SCAR it is probably the sexiest carbine in the world smiley

Why the prison service is using such a modern gun when most of the NA have rusty AK 47s is what I cannot explain.

My main point isn't even on the helicopter. It is on the people. Nigeria needs to have a Special forces up to the level of green berets or rangers or seals. We can then go further beyond airstrikes, offensives and defence. Imagine shooting or picking up top BHTs at 2am in their own backyard.

It would be mad!! I see these drills carried out by the NAF panthers, and I wonder why it isn't applied on the battlefield.

With troops been inserted with an Mi-17 and 2Mi-35M providing CAS while the operations last, an ISR acting as the Command and Control.

It would be mad!
