He couldn't have stepped down for Tinubu seeing that Tinubu became governor in 1999 under AD.

Agbaje, an unknown, contested under the newly formed AC but left in 2006 when it became obvious that Tinubu was going to ensure the primary victory of Fashola, his chief of staff. Agbaje contested under DPA but came 3rd behind Fashola and Obanikoro.

On the contrary, what we are witnessing here is a good example of how human psychology works. When humans fail, I mean total failure where there is no place to run to, humility is the only available option. For example if a rich proud man looses his wealth he will most definitely become humble. Philosophers often talk about how power corrupts, it is the other side of the coin of this argument.

That's why people like me have always advocated for a type of system where incumbents are capable of loosing, once people realise the transient nature of power, they will be careful. So there is nothing like the new PDP, it's just a bunch of people that have realised the possibility of falling from grace to grass...a blessing to the common man on the street.
