Since corruption has being a part of our lives and punishment would not always help, there may be a need to Consider amnesty and a hearing forum for confession and restitution of stolen monies by politicians. EFCC compiles a list of corrupt politicians. A hearing is set up in which politicians are invited to confess and return stolen monies and assets confiscated, or face trial and jail sentences. This hearing and restitution process may have time frame of six months. I suggest it should span from leaders of the nineties down to present govt. There may be multiple forum centres across the country to save time. Just like what was done after the Abacha era and in South Africa at the end of apartheid . Thereafter effective EFCC, police to handle any other new cases through the justice system. . Other issues such good legal system, anti corruption training, good support for police civil servants, secure fiputure of citizens, encouraging patriotism credible leadership can follow in the long term.

Advantages of this approach are:

1. Enables win win situation for govt and offenders
2. Improves initial popularity of govt
3. More in line with African culture
4. Enlightens the public about evil of corruption.
5. Unites the country against corruption.
6. Psychological healing for the nation as there is vexation among the public.
6. Saves legal time
7. A similar Programme had yielded good results during buhari's time as dictator in the 80s
8. Helps draw the line between the past and the future and helps closure.

Well this approach, while it helps in some ways, it can't be easy for EFCC to start compiling names, it's like murder, you can't find someone guilty except you've established a crime or found a body. the laws have been there, they just need to be implemented or technically "forgotten about"... Anytime you find them, you prosecute them.. You can label someone corrupt but you can't prove all corrupt cases except there is evidence.. For instance, if a contract was inflated, that is, Contractor A charged consultancy of 10 billion when in fact the constitution said nothing about what Mark-off percentage of a contract can be charged as consultancy fee etc..

The truth of the matter is corruption can never b stopped bt b reduce to reasonable rate .. Nobody is a saint. Corruption does not concern money alone, but since in Nigeria the most aspect of corruption concern money.. U strategies a means of strengthening it. Mean while other corruption practises that is unbearable and over done. Eg, abacha, till date we re still retrieving money he looted, imagine the kind of money ibori stole nd the rest of other politician not mentioned.. This practises d penalty are suppose b a death. So others will learn just as China government are doing. This kind of act (corruption) lives are lost for such looted it may seems unknown to them. Then next phase of tackling corruption, u start strengthening agency like the police, efcc, icpc etc.

Kolade354:
In China if you are guilty of corruption they will kill you...........So Simple like A.B.C

Thats how you tackle corruption? Kill people? Sighs....

Anyway, in my opinion I will tackle corruption by making those in power accountable for their actions. If you are accused of corruption, you will face trial and if found guilty, you will be jailed. I do not condone death as the solution UNLESS your corrupt act led to people losing their lives, now that is a different ball game. I will support whistle blowing and offer incentives to those who have the guts to report any form of corruption. There will be quarterly audits performed, these audits will be performed by independent auditors who will not be bribed to keep their mouth shut.

Stiff punishment for corrupt politicians like we have in china.... cos corruption tends to increase when d gain of corruption is greater than d likelihood of been caught nd persecuted. e.g stealing 5billion and u ar granted bail with just #10,000.... i no calll name oooo
