Lifebender:we'll in the case of acquiring cadaver by teaching hospitals, most do so by getting the bodies of victims who are not claimed by anybody at accident scenes and they don't have certified owners . This is mostly what most teaching hospitals do. so the issue of buying normally comes once in a while. |

Danjuma827: Sir, the library was moved because after Mtn stopped maintaining the library, Unilag couldn't continue.. Why? Inadequate funds. Private bodies do not run charity.. They're businesses with the sole aim of making profits. Private industries and corporations invest where they will gain. And in every part of the world, the corporations fund the universities to carry out research in a particular area. most times under a non disclosure agreement.. The company in return benefits from the research breakthroughs. Private industries cannot commit funds unless they see that there is a viable way for them to benefit from the investment |

datola:Young man, need you be reminded that this is a debate? And it should spell into your heart that your strength can actually pose as your weakness. Without such agitation and acts of socialism from these students, do you not want to elaborate that the school authourities will take loopholes of this? Comment on the facts not propaganda. |

Lifebender: Exactly my point, the federal government could take the 1st step and lay the foundation for student loan funding and if we take news reports of billions of naira been spent on feeding for government officials with more than a grain of salt, then there's no doubt they can afford it? Federal could lay the foundation and also aid states by jointly investing in various state owned projects that would enable them to start deriving or increase the income been generated, so the states can then be able to fund universities located there, would that help? |

For the sake of argument or debate, I think it's wrong for the schools to increase fee at this time when we have the issue of Boko haram in hand and unemployment at all time high, logically, the purpose of any action is to get best result, imagine in a case where by 30% of student couldn't afford to pay such school fee, don't u think it will serves as a breeding ground for terrorist and other social vices, I think timing matters, to those in support of fee increase, the only argument there is you people are comparing developed countries with a third world country which is illogical and cant stand the test of time, remember, those developed countries also past through all this and the minimun wage, population, patriotism, is entirely alien to us, recently Obama flag off community help programs, were the community will pay and the federal govt will also pay for your fee, you only need to pay some percentage, and we don't have such thing here but when we get there we will surely cross the bridge, must developed countries have programs to help those that can't afford to pay their school fee, they also provide scholarships not only to the best student but to those that are willing and ready to learn. So my questions to those people in support of fee increase, what would to do those brilliant student that can't afford to pay? What yardstick did u use to arrive at the conclusion that the schools are better off with increment? What of the standard and quality of education before and after the increment? And those that increment reduce the rate of unemployment? Why increment when a graduate in state and federal are collecting less than 100K a month? Do you want a situation where by u will graduate and get less reward for your investment? Why do you think the time is right now not may in the few years time? 1 Like |

Technically OAU won. Miracy was alone in the debate. Two against one sound ridiculous. Even if her partner fail to appear the organizers show have prepare room for a back up. By asking for 2 speakers and 1 back up in case of absentee. How can anyone even judge 2 opponents against 1. Please don't insult the intelligence of the viewers. Good presentation for both sides both I can not call this a fair debate. Miracy single handedly pull 26 points against a combined vote of 46points. This debate is not fair 5 Likes 1 Share |

Danjuma827:That is why I am calling the attention of the organizers to their errors. If a debate is hosted with 2 speakers against 1 traditionally we all know who will win no matter their performance. You can't call that a debate. Is either you host 2 speakers against 2 or you give room for an absentee to be substituted. Or cancel debate. To the organizers this is very poor. 2 Likes |

Fynestboi: Sir, it is a debate! You are hosting a debate on an online platform, must definitely you must expect participants to be absent. Because of various unforeseen circumstances. You being the host is now shouldered with the responsibility of making it fair and competitive. That is were you create backup speakers. Even in football there are substitute players. You must never give room for the integrity of the event to be question. We have foreigners here on nairaland. We have intellectual members and guest viewing nairaland threads. These are all your prospective viewers. If a viewer see a thread uninteresting definitely the next time he sees same thread he will not participate in it. As organizers you are shouldered with the responsibility of getting viewers engaged and hook to the discussions. That is why I implore you to create room for substitute speakers. A debate is only intellectually appealing if debating are done by intellectual minds. That is why principles of fairness calls for both parties to be fully represented no matter the situation. Because the image and integrity of the host will always be held by the success or failure of the event. That is my advice. I am impressed by the initiative and I know it will be better down the road. Thank you sir 7 Likes |
