FIFA World Cup 2010 qualifying matches taking place this weekend include the Super Eagles of Nigeria taking on Mozambique at 3pm Nigerian time.

This is the second group round, and the 20 remaining African nations have been drawn into five groups(A, B, C, D, E) of four countries each. Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria and Tunisia are in Group B.
The group winners will qualify. The qualifers will also double up for the 2010 African Nations Cup finals.

Members of the Super Eagles' squad have already started arriving in camp in readiness for the crucial game. Let's hope there will be minimal disappointments this time around.

Go Eagles!!! grin

I had a dream a couple of days ago that they defeated Nigeria 2-0. I'm serious. But thankfully, I'm not a dream person. My dreams are usually opposite, if at all it bears any relationship with reality.

NOTHING TO PAY = NOTHING TO PLAY.
They`ll lose the game, `cos our guys are professionals(people who work for the pay) so they play for bonuses and the $200,000 meant for it was stolen right under the nose of the NFA, so nothing to pay and nothing to play for.

Kanu is a leader:

On Tuesday, skipper Nwankwo Kanu led five other players into the team's camp. Obafemi Martins, Osaze Odemwingie, Obinna Nsofor, Femi Ajilore and Onyekachi Apam were the other players who breezed into the Mthunzi Lodge camp of the Eagles.

The team trained for the first time Tuesday at the Thumalahashe Stadium in Mpumalanga, which is about an hour's drive from the hotel.

Meanwhile, skipper Nwankwo Kanu has insisted yesterday afternoon that the new arrivals must join the rest at training in the evening.

Earlier, Media Officer Idah Peterside had told KickOffNigeria.com that the new arrivals would have a well deserved rest to recover from their jetlag, but Kanu surprisingly showed up when the bus was about to leave for training, less than one hour after he and his posse arrived.

“There are only six players who are going for training and that will not be good. Even if those of us who have just arrived only get to jog around with the others, it will be good for the team,” Kanu told KickOffNigeria.com as he called on the others to come down and join the bus.

“We are here to prepare well so that we can win, and if we have to sacrifice a few hours rest, we can always get it back when we get back at night. Its for the good of the country.

“And the fans will also be at the stadium to see us, it will not be good to disappoint them,” Kanu stated.

This is where Kanu is quite different from JJ, perhaps this explains why he is more successful. This guy has passion, and always ready to sacrifice. Remember the last ANC in Ghana, he was almost more active on the coaching bench than even Vogts. Remember how he was standing up, doing the coaching. Also he doesn't bear any grudge in his being benched or given 15-minutes of play, especially during the time(2004-2006) he was doing the super-sub role for Eagles and delivering. Can JJ make that sacrifice? Many a time he will come to Eagles camp with injury, at times he will be played even with injury. He is also known to be playing father role to Nigerian players in England and beyond, talking to them on national team etc.

I think, more than what he does on pitch, this is why Kanu is widely liked in Nigeria.

I can't imagine a team traveling one hour to go an train.

Re: Mozambique (0) Vs Nigeria (0) On Sunday 29th March by Cristalz(f): 11:19am On Mar 26, 2009
They've already started misbehaving. . .obviously getting to camp in time is the toughest task known to man.

Dunno why they always have to be pushed and prodded like cows. Forget the NFA, just do it for love of Nigeria.

Mozambique is not a major challenge but our boyz
Let's write them off at our own peril. This same team held star-studded CIV team to a 1-1 draw.

These chickens are unpredictable kind of animals and I would rather relax in a cool spot with some cold bottle of beer instead of hoping on them and eventually get disappointed.

In the match on sunday Nigeria are the better side to win so let them go for it but we should be cautious because this same mozambique teams held cote'ivoire to a goalless draw in the 1st phase of the qualifiers at home and cote'ivoire manage to beat them 1-0 at Abijan a 75th goal so they are not push-overs.

The match is coming up at 1300hrs GMT that is 2pm not 3pm

you guys speak of CIV like they're gods playing football. if Moz. held CiV to a draw, to me its the most ordinary thing that can happen in football. that doesnt mean we aint gonna trash their asses in Maputo.
