The honey moon is over hence decline in power supply
Re: Power Supply Decline: Share your Experience by Nobody: 12:58pm On Oct 07, 2015
No decline here in the FCT......but we wait for the end of the rains.

Main issue is that even at 5000MW....it still is not enough. Daily need is 12500MW or thereabout....and we don't get up to half of that. In my opinion, we need about 20000MW and above before we can enjoy 24 hour light supply.

Truth be told....we need nuclear energy, solar energy, and maybe geothermal. We also need to use our gas reserves to the max....instead of just flaring it.But in my opinion, nuclear is the best.

follow my comments, I'm in Egbeda to tidy up things and power situation is erratic and they even *ration* light here.

if light is being rationed,it is because of the transformer that cannot be overloaded. The problem is the transformer and not the electricity supply.

During rainy season when the water level rises, power generation increases. It is however shocking that some gullible Nigerians have not observed that up till date. My brother nearly stoned me over this issue. According to him, it is Buhari's body language that caused the sharp increase in power supply last month. Now the power problem is here again and may even worsen in couple of months. Here in Satellite Town, Lagos, it is horrible. By June/July next year, some people will start hailing the president again. When will my people learn? So pathetic

Apparently GMB cannot even sustain the successes of the previous administration in the Power sector. Down here in Akwa Ibom (Abak) power supply is now terrible. 5-6hours once every 1-2 weeks.

It is factual that the Energy distribution has considerably reduced. The problem is from the Gencos precisely Eglin power plant which is a major energy generating plant in Nigeria.. Some turbines are down and the company is on its toes trying to get them fixed.

Since Buhari took over, I have been in 3 cities.

Port Harcourt(where I reside).

Abuja.

Benin city(my root).

In my area in Ph, light situation is a complete write off.

When I was in abuja, the light situation was wonderful. Blackout doesn't last more than 30mins.

My area in Benin is a complete shambles. They ration the light. When it's your turn, just pray you get the light.

So in totality, I have heard how people have been enjoying improved power. But I am yet to feel it personally.

Despite GEJ's sucess....fact remains that by the end of his admin, we were still generating up to half of what we needed daily.

In my opinion, we need to build more generating plants....to increase generating capacity. At the end of the day....we need 20000MW to have 24 hours supply. GEJ got us up to 6000MW. Let us see if Buhari and the DISCOS can raise it higher....especially as we are now paying more.

Power supply 22hours in Abuja,Benue, Kogi, Niger,Taraba, Nasarrawa I can't say about other states..

I don't spend much for my little biz on petrol...

Dear Buhari please keep it on..

God Bless u

Power supply has always been close to 24hrs in Taraba, but that feat predates GMB (ever since 2010/2011) thanks to the two distribution substations built and commissioned (one along Jalingo_yola road and another at ATC/Jalingo-Wukari road) by the GEJ administration. Same story in Gombe and Yola. GMB had NOTHING to do with that.

I totally agree. Please not that it is actually 5,000MW installed capacity achieved by GEJ, not 6,000MW. The onus is now on GMB to exceed that by building additional stations and providing the necessary systems to evacuate additional generated power from these plants to the end users (domestic and commercial).
