trust me. this is an opened door to more catastrophes in 9ija. Y? the Muslim-dominated North av bn waiting for this n they will waste no time in going all out to propagate sharia n ALL other added concomitants of Islam. Don't say it's unfair by the time the complaints comes in droves. It won't be fun then trust me. There are Muslims n other traditionalists in Imo for crying out loud. This is same as declaring that State a Christian State with religious and political consequences. Y use the tax-payers money for such? By the way is this really "JESUS CHRIST"?

if you know how generous an average successful Igbo man is to his church, you would be amazed! cheesy, some of them build and name a church against their patron saint and donate it back to the church while the first 3 aisle is meant for thier family cool cool cool

Nigeria on Friday unveiled a nine-metre tall statue of Jesus Christ carved from white marble, thought to be the biggest of its kind in Africa.
Standing barefoot with arms outstretched, the "Jesus de Greatest" statue weighs in at 40 tonnes.

More than 100 priests and hundreds of Catholic worshippers attended the nine-metre (30-foot) statue's official unveiling in the village of Abajah in Imo state, Nigeria.

The statute was commissioned by Obinna Onuoha, a local businessman who hired a Chinese company to carve it. It was placed in the grounds of a 2000-capacity church that he built in 2012.

In his homily at a Mass before unveiling the statue, presiding bishop Augustine Tochukwu Okwuoma said it is a "very great symbol of faith" for Catholic worshippers and passers-by alike and remind them of the importance of Jesus Christ," The presiding Bishop blessed the statue after mass.

The cost of the statue has not been revealed.

The 43-year-old boss of an oil and gas service company timed the statue's unveiling to coincide with his parents' 50th wedding anniversary.

He said the idea of building a giant statue of Jesus came to him in a dream nearly 20 years ago.
And when his 68-year-old mother fell seriously ill a few years ago, she made him promise that he would build a church if she survived.

This is not about I see am well well prophecies and predictions without solutions by so called prophets and pastors this is SPIRITUAL authority from HEAVEN so be wise and check and investigate the utterance John 5,30 Do you know that Today is Yet another Sunday of history and geography teaching and fashion sermons that don't empower humanbeigns spiritually by comedy, story telling pastors&prophets for spiritualy blind bornagain followers and church goers?bornagains and church goers enjoy it and continue to shout pastor ride on and still remain in evil family&occult wickedness and evil marine bondages and can't sleep in the night and witches and wizards feast on them without mercy and pastors and prophets and apostles continue to use bornagains and church goers to make merchandise of their bellies without giving them empowerment and liberation and most importantly give followers PEACE which Jesuschrist promised to give to those who come to him?Again see Jeremiah 5.21,22 Jeremiah 12 10 you must help yourself and Seek for unbeleivable power and recieve it, which is LIGHT,MANTLE and THE POWER THAT BE and this is available only if you believe there is >many just claim bornagain without spiritual wisdom and spiritual eyes and unbelievable power and they hate change and new things of real JESUSCHRIST even when they read that God will do a new Thing in the bible but they still question the same God why he is doing a new Thing? What a disaster humanbeings of the world.BEHOLD kingdom of God ofJesuschrist is not for everyone, neither is heaven for everyone, devil has his own children always and devils children hate change, especially the ones masquerading as BORNAGAINS , we have spoken again and those who have ear let them hear and who can battle with God of justice?remember this is authority and truth&revelation and power that is unbelievable to humanbeigns so it's not compulsory that you must embrace and believe us but only time will tell who is telling the truth or not as this is not like conventional bornagain and bornagain in vogue #NO and NEVER, Our own is accept the truth or perish we dont beg human beigns to accept our truth and revelation#Jesuschrist did not beg human beigns to be bornagain he said go and sin no more and come to me all ye that are tired of carrying heavy evil loads, so it means you must meet a condition before you come to him Jesuschrist and not as they are begging you to come and be bornagain, what nonsense that some one should be begged to worship his creator or send bus to carry you to come and worship he that created you and created heaven and earth? What a great disaster and man made agenda for humanbeings or did Jesus send vehicles to carry people to him when he came before?you must rise up and be wise if you will and only if you reason and think well>this is the time to help yourself there is no more time #click>… https:///90v6hjW8xs do not say you where not told and for you know who is coming for revenge and if Jesuschrist is comming for revenge will he pet or beg you as they are petting you in so called churches never ,but they pet you in churches because they need your money why not be WISE. The spiritual is the ultimate place seek the spiritual much as we told you that it is at night that we know who is who and no matter what anyone claims to be in the day before SPIRITUALY blind people .Night is the ultimate place of exposure no pretenses there so be wise and think.we have spoken again to the whole world for them to look into what we speak

please, your point could be better struck, but use the internet to your strength and read views on issues properly, the presence of the christian mission (both Anglican n catholic) in south eastern Nigeria is bigger than any part of the country and south easterners spread their generosity to this mission every part of the country they set settles FACT!!!
do you know? "Côte d'Ivoire President Félix Houphouët-Boigny chose his birthplace of Yamoussoukro to be the future site of the new capital city of his country in 1983. As part of the plan of the city, the president wanted to memorialize himself with the construction of what he called the greatest church in the world" "The Basilica of Our Lady of Peace (French: Basilique Notre-Dame de la Paix) is a Catholic minor basilica dedicated to Our Lady of Peace in Yamoussoukro, the administrative capital of Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast). The basilica was constructed between 1985 and 1989 at a cost of US$300 million", and dont forget Less than a third of Côte d'Ivoire's population are Christian cheesy cheesy cheesy

Nice. but Would it have been blasphemous to give the Jesus close-cropped or afro hair?

We need a black Jesus and a Nation of Islam in Nigeria.

A big shame!! The goverment of Rochas is such a clueless one. He should be thinking of how to make Imo an ICT hub that will gainfully employ youths by wooing investors, instead he is building a bullshit statue. First it was a giant xmas shit tree and now another shit.
