Thanks Hartson. Thats a huge risk to take up. So there is no need sending EOI in a hurry if you don't have appreciable points.
Hi Yomi, Yeah be patient and take it one step after the other.Cheers

True, I have a friend who's from NZ but currently living and working in Aussie. Wants to apple for a PR

How easy it after holding NZ PR to move over to Aussie, because i see NZ immigration process is a lot easier than Aussies. I made a mistake to take TOEFL instead of IELTS, my thinking was AUSSIE immigration now accept TOEFL but only to find out after screening by an agent that AIQS which is the body to assess my skills don't accept TOEFL, so am writing the next IELTS 20th august but the catch here is by the time my results come out ( in sept) it will only be a month to my 40th birthday meaning i will loose vital points, i was told by my agent that the only way i could make it will be to get @least 7 in all ielts band, which may be difficult so am thinking after checking out NZ process requirements , it will be very possible to get it done even @ 40( i think i should get 12opts). So now if i get to NZ and still like to go to Aussie, my question is, how easy is this going to be?

NZ is indeed a realizable dream especially since POF is not yet compulsory but the major issue is getting a job from outside NZ. This is where i think we should concentrate our effort. Am still researching and i think we should be on the look out for any Nigerian in NZ who can provide a link or useful info on getting a job.
For those of us not on the skill shortage or future direction of labour, we really need the help.

@ hartson, thanks for the NZ job website.

Ok kool. Band 9 is NOT easy to achieve in IELTS. It remains the most difficult English language test. Lucky to fall under Future Growth Area.

Hello my people,
I want more light on NZ things here;
1. Is it cumpolsory for PA and Spouse to take IELTS?
2. How much will one need to show as POF for family of 5? I can't find it on this thread. Pls tell me.

Please help your boy out here.
Re: New Zealand Skilled Worker Category by mrkayodeoludare: 7:06am On Aug 01, 2016
1. Yes Segbas, although IELTS won't add to your points, it is compulsory for main applicant, spouse and all dependents 16 yrs of age and above.

2. For NZ, there is no POF reqirement for now. This is a first hand info from close folks who have crossed the huddle already.

This topic was inspired by a slight "derailment" on the Canadian thread.

I am not very knowledgeable on the subject but I think we can exchange ideas and gradually get more information on the subject.

Let me share a few of what I have found out so far.

First, as a skilled worker hopeful, the first thing to do is to check if your skills are in demand. It is noteworthy that there are immediate skilled shortages and long-term skilled shortages.

Second is to check if you are eligible. If the finding is positive, the next thing to do is to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).

Be ready to cough out about $530 to support the application smiley

Let us keep the thread going with useful, relevant and practical information. Cheers!

check if your occupation is listed in the long term skill shortage.if it is listed then check the qualification requirements and no of years experience required in col. 3 & 4 to be eligible for bonus points.
You might likely qualify to apply but if your occupation is not among the LTSL then you can't claim bonus point

@ebimarian

Follow the steps above, then you can come back to ask more specific questions. We are all still learning here cheesy

Hi,Segbas,your occupation isn't listed on the Long term skill shortage or the immediate skill shortage.I suggest you look for offer of employment but the issue is ITA considerations are often base on occupations listed in the LTSSL and ISSL.I read somewhere that your occupation must be among the occupations that are in shortage in NZ.so figure out another option if you can lets see.cheers

Hartson, what about future growth area? Creative industries is in that category. I should think masscom should fit in there. Just like me with Performing Arts/Film. Plz help check it out and clarify. I saw on the self assessment grid bonus points for occupations and qualifications that fall under future growth area.

Hello All.
Just read somewhere now that there is a minimum wage clause that you must be earning at least 36000NZD per year before you can be granted a visa.

For a nigerian, if we are earning close to that sef some of us wont look for greener pastures.

Please if you know someone that has gone through this process kindly help my shedding more light on this

Thak you Kayode.I have not gone through the list but I doubt if that course will be eligible for FGA occupations.creative industries should fit courses like the one you mentioned above i.e performing arts/film,editing,script writing,auditioning,fine and applied art,video editing anything that relates to film production,exhibition etc.Just my opinion

From all my readings though i think (not sure) it is for people who are already in New Zealand working on other visas and they want to change their visa status to Permanent Residency VIA the Skilled Migrant Category Visa.

PS. if anyone has seen anything on this topic please share the information with us here

I think this applies to landed migrants.Take note,successfull applicants are not issued PR immediately.A successful applicant could be given 2years work visa leading to final issuance of PR later on.Therefore, I deduce that,to be eligible for PR while working you are expected to be earning a certain amount of income per annum.I don't think the income requirement is necessarily for EOI application.just my view anyway
