highzeek94: Obamina: I don't want to believe that we are silently encouraging mediocrity here. Nigerian will not progress if we keep endorsing mediocrity by giving excuses. I mean, I read every comment here and there was a consensus here - the commentary was wack. I bet you won't hear those at the stadium complain about the commentary. Nonetheless, some people still take their radios whenever they go to the stadium because it adds to the entertainment. The commenters here paid for a satellite service, they need to enjoy the value of whatever they paid for. You can't tell them to take garri for the package they paid for. I must admit that it is not an easy job to do but that's why they're professionals! It's their job - I don't make excuses for what someone ought to be trained for. If the station has good commentators, they make more money too. Please, from what I know and what I've read here, Nigerian commentators need to stop being partisan during football games. Additionally, adequate research should be conducted before going on air - people learn from commentaries and this is not about supporting a Nigerian just because he or she is. In recent times, Mitchell Obi in my opinion is the closest to being qualified when it comes to giving you statistics and stories around a game though some have reservations about him. Femi and the gang is another group of young guys trying to change the 'bad press' surrounding our commentators. They have given so many (sports) stations a headache that I've seen people reducing the volume of their TV sets just to hear these guys on radio. I can't remember the guy's name now but the guy that schooled in the UK among them; Femi and Emmanuel do a good job in giving match commentaries. |

Mprepz:There u go again, inappropriate punctuation. It is so easy to label someone ineligible, but even you, yourself are not too good. |

I've always noticed this, and in fact took a swipe at Nigerian commentators before this game. Ts very shameful. I remember when Anthony Martial scored in his debut against Liverpool. The commentators reaction of only a "Yesss!" was greeted by alot of critics. |
Re: Why Nigerian Commentators Should Not Comment On Serious Matches by jagorinho: 1:43pm On Mar 26, 2016 |
The commentary problem has been around for long but i take it to be just fun. *one qualifier between Nigeria u23 and Ghana u23 in Abuja stadium......" and Monday James is about to enter for the Nigerian team, but this is saturday evening, can Monday perform on a saturday evening ?" one enyimba f.a cup match and muri ogunbiyi misplaced a pass and the commentator said "muri ought to be flogged for that pass" my all time commentator is the guy that commentated the brazil vs germany world cup game, one of the best commentaries in recent times. |

goodvision12: Dummy. You didn't have to make such a dumb remark either. They aren't hired by Supersport (not supersports) but by NTA who have the rights to that match. Supersport would never hire such a bunch of non professionals. You have employees in school? I knew you were still a bloody student.. 1 Like |
