Why Omeruo-Awaziem Combination Is Super Eagles' Best Centre-Back Partnership

They've played together in the Spanish La Liga at a stage in their career.
On the international stage, both have formed a sweet partnership.

Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem also Super Eagles' best defensive partnership. For now.

Where things have gone awry for Super Eagles is anyone's guess. There have been so many major issues from front to back that it's difficult to pinpoint one area where things have gone wrong collectively.

If we look at the defence in isolation, however, it's clear the form of William Troost-Ekong has been a major factor.

The defender has disappeared recently, with the player we've seen at the back four being only Troost-Ekong by name.

Since 2021, Troost-Ekong seems to have lost all his ability as a footballer. He's suddenly weak in the air, opposition attackers are skipping past him like he's a training-ground dummy, and even in attack he's offering little.

Quality ascends it doesn't descend.

Both of them played for an inconsequential team in La Liga, they were not outstanding and not unexpected they were relegated to the very poor to quality Segunda Division.

Awaziem was so outstanding he found himself in the lowly rated Turkish league and Omeruah remains anonymous in the Segunda Division with Leganes. Leganes are currently romancing with relegation with him.

And yes Ekong has been far from outstanding I would describe him as basic functional.

However, put the both of Omeruah and Awaziem in the EPL ( no club would probably even consider it) and they be would both be out of thier depth.

Considering that Omeruah played 6/7 year's ago in the Championship and nobody even considered him for a championship transfer, talk less of the EPL. That says it all, add to that he is now much much older, football age or not. He would be a liability .

There is a failing in the NFF we should really have recruited and or given opportunity to better CB's doing much better or showing promise.

Egbon I am hopeful but we should be realist

Aigbogun and Equaveon have No thing to offer

Equeavon journeyed Slovenia lately with nothing to show for it as club director not even his UEFA coaching badge I have heard anything regarding if he still got it

We need someone that can turn things around this pinnick led board appointing thjs men is like moving from Jonathan to buhari

Nothing will come back to hurt him tomorrow

The afcon that Dennis will be benched as far as rohr remains the coach ,it will be better for him to remain at watford abeg

Someone will leave watford and come and sit on the bench for underperforming players

Just take a look at your mentality ,what’s the difference between you and an ekuke coach that will call up an underperforming player or a club less player to the national team to help his career ,why will you even think such ? A national team should not be made to help any player revive his career ,all call up should be earned by hard work
Talk about mentality,
Let's examine ur mentality small,
according to ur mentality ,let those who r sure of their playing time honour their invitations,

Let 13 or 14 players honour their call, the rest who would sit on d the bench reject their invitation because they might not feature.
Think about it n u will c how ridiculous it sounds.

And who says dennis might not get opportunity,n even become d player of d tournament.

Oga,reject a call up because of playing time n c if u'll c another invitation.

He won’t

We are talk about football bullying and not pace or speed

Agreed without question.

We are talking physicality and brutish aggression not pace , Zlatan Ibrahimovic will mash up Rudiger. I should add also that Zlatan has a black belt in Taekwando.

I think the NFF will go ahead and hire a foreign manager now Rohr's contract has been terminated. Eguavoen is just a placeholder being the technical director of the NFF, in football hierarchy either the assistant coach steps in or the technical director, pending when the chosen man is hired, which could take days or weeks. Interesting times ahead

Eguavoen campaigned for Buhari reelection?

Sir are you saying Pinnick is not in charge....okay lets see it this way, possibly Daniel Amokachie used his office as special assistant to Buhari to influenced Eguavoen appointment cos seeing Okocha,Kanu and Garba Lawal says a lot that ex internationals hijacked the whole thing and Amo must have played the real script or what do you think...
