he wasn't any shaky. he was solid and even helped with his physicality when subbed in for zaidu in kumasi

he was also solid in abj. its not hype bro but the potentials he posses as a young defender holding his own in europe. i can't remember the last time a young nigerian centre back made headlines the way the kid is doing currently

if renowed football analyst and pundits can agree that is one for the future then i see no reason he dont deserve the hype. if many here can hype medicores like nwakali, awaziem and co then the lad currently deserves more

for him to attract interest from bigger leagues in europe implies he is highly rated currently
two truths can coexist. He did not exactly cover himself on glory that day but what is important is that he is improving massively.

CHAN 2022: Qualifying draw sets up
potential Ghana v Nigeria clash
26 May 2022 Sport Africa

The draw for the 2022 African Nations
Championship (CHAN) qualifiers has been held in
Cairo and sees a potential clash between Nigeria
and Ghana for a place at the finals.

The seeding system for the tournament was based
on the results of the last three editions of CHAN,
meaning that Ghana and Benin were the lowest-
ranked sides and will face each other in regionally-
based qualifiers.
The aggregate winner of that game will face Nigeria
in the final round in Western Zone B.

A total of 46 nations were entered in the draw for
the expanded tournament for locally-based players
which will feature 18 teams for the first time.
Earlier this week the Confederation of African
Football (Caf) announced the increase in the
number of teams from 16, leading to an unusual
format for the finals in Algeria next year.

Caf says the finals will have five groups; three of
which will have four nations, while the other two
will be comprised of just three teams.
It means the top two from the four-team groups will
be joined in the quarter-finals by the winners of the
other two pools.

Hosts Algeria, defending champions Morocco and
fellow North Africans Libya are already assured of
spots at the tournament.
Zimbabwe were included in the draw for the
Southern Zone qualifiers despite currently being
banned from global football by Fifa and having
been thrown out of Africa Cup of Nations
qualifiers.

Western Zone B
All seven teams from the region entered, and three
teams will qualify.

Round one:
Ghana v Benin

Round two:
Ivory Coast v Burkina Faso
Togo v Niger
Ghana/Benin v Nigeria

Thanks for the update. Don't you think his English might be a challenge? Many of our players are sharp English speakers, especially the Foreign borns.

Either way. We judge him with the games to come and I hope he blends with the team. I think the team also needs an interpreter. Or Zaidu can assist of his Portuguese is fluent.

A Ghanaian took the ball away from him and left him like 30 yards behind. Even Bassey himself said he struggled and found it hard to breath.
Bassey is good but not yet convincing in eagles though he can't be rated with two caps...against Ghana he looked very shaky but am seeing him coming solid and a plus for GWG.

Will the Portugal connection give Zaidu an advantage? Zaidu is good on his day no doubt but could this be a plus as well for him?

The coach should get an interpreter for himself if not available.

Zaidu and Bassey can and should start together. Bassey as left CB, Zaidu as LB.

Definitely Zaidu will have an advantage. Communication will give him a strong edge and the coach being conversant with FC Porto will definitely have a deeper knowledge of Zaidu when compared with other players.

Hence result is a big part of this business, Zaidu will help the coach in fast tracking his ideas with respect to the role he is to play.

At this point I want to believe you are trolling cus this thing you are saying is looking like a joke. Ighalo's family was threatened. With the way you are taking this okoye issue one would have thought he was beaten after the match.
And what did Ighalo do? Dude left the team for two years.

What am saying is this; no one should be overly criticized cos of an ordinary football game. Okoye's status as a biracial Nigerian puts him at risk of suffering racist abuse packaged alongside emotional criticism. Just like what happened with Saka, Rashford and Sancho.
That's why his is more serious than other abused players. Racist statements can damage someone much more than ordinary abuse.

I don't think it is that bad but he certainly has room for improvement. Plus, if Finidi speaks Spanish they should be able to communicate pretty well. Zaidu assisting would definitely be great for the players.

That could have been said with Balogun and Okoye. But yes, Zaidu starting for one of the best clubsides in the coach's country will definitely be an advantage.
