I was wondering who the defender making a mess of himself at Gent’s back line.. Turns out out to be Torunarigha. Very poor game. Let the team down.

Not true, Nacho has to perform every game for Rodgers to keep starting him which is impossible any bad game he is back to the bench

I repeat, Rodgers is tactically a genius but his bias and sentiments holds him back. That has been my point and it has not changed. His sentiments hinders him of making the best of his genuine brilliant understanding of the game of football.

You don't know what you are talking about.

Nacho should leave Leicester City at end of season. I am very confident EPL Clubs will hustle to get him.

He should quit wasting his talent and potentials under that silly Manager. Enough should be enough.

The good thing TIME will tell

This, my friend is the absolute truth and nothing but the truth. This is why I laugh sometimes when people exalt premier league and talk glowingly about the modern football while forgetting the basics of football.

Folks make it look like a striker has to be the one to cross from the midfield and at the same time receive the cross at the other end to score. A bad midfield is all you need for your strikers to look useless upfront. Couple that with stupid supposed inverted wingers who can't cross but would rather wanna go solo. All of these in the name of modern football.

It's also the same reason super eagles have looked mediocre despite having a large ammo of strikers
I agreed

If this is a 3-4-2-1 set-up, it is not bad in some aspects. Lookman and Iheanacho as Number 8s in the final third halfspaces behind Osimhen is feasible given Lookman has operated there this season already for Atalanta on the left and excelled. Iheanacho also has the skillset for this role on the right.

The Midfield is thin and lacking that smooth and congent 1st phase-2nd phase dynamics also given the choice of defenders you picked. Ekong and Akpoguma don't have the reliable passing range and ball carrying nous to connect the 1st phase of buildup to the second phase of buildup.
Defensively, Akpoguma is also suspect. Ekong excels better defensively compared to Akpos.

Ajayi is okay on his day but also limited in his passing and ball carrying. Defensively, he is also a notch better than Akpos.

The recovery and reaction times of all 3 CBs in this set-up as a rest defence, in turnover phases, is also gonna be suspect.

So much to still analyse but finally, back to the final third, one of the 8s (most likely Iheanacho) has to fall back to help the midfield in off-ball phases when we go on the press and establish some midblock/intense pressing strategy. Now, we all know this to be Iheanacho's Archilles' heel. His knack for not helping the midfield.

Personally, I will go with a 433, 4231, 4321, 3142, 3331 or a 352. We must almost always have 3 midfielders not 2.

Kelechi Iheanacho: Still up there with the best in EPL's history based on minutes per G/A

Courtesy: @OptaJoe

Opta drops these on Nacho but few folks in here will rather overlook it and only quote he has made over 150 apperances while ignoring the number of minutes contained in their appearances.

Well, Opta has done justice. Have a look.

That's why our wingers are a flop in the Super Eagles. All of them are squirrels. Even with a player like Osimhen who is an Eagle in the air, the wingers do not deliver crosses all in the name of inverted wingers.

You can make your point without the don't mind.

Now to the point, Rodgers did not rise to the coach of Liverpool by being average. Rodgers got Swansea playing a beautiful brand of football with a modern philosophy before the widespread of its tactical motifs.

I repeat, his draw back is his sentiments. Look at the kind of players he used to put four past Tottenham. That is not the coaching of an average manager.

Finito.

Language or rather words have meanings. Genius has a specific meaning. Use it appropriately. Whatever Brendan Rogers is, he is but genius is definitely not one of them.

Do you know that even being the best does not qualify someone to be a genius? So the bolded is what you think in your estimation makes him a genius? If there's a ranking of exceptional coaches, I doubt if Roger will be in the first 30.

Only armchair football experts will argue that Iheanacho won't get a decent club in the premier league to sign him if he decides to leave Leicester today..
The guy has built himself a good reputation football wise in England...His agent just need to do his work...
