Yobo has no experience of coaching and was pushed straight to the role of assistant coach

This is an insult to ex SE players who have been in the coaching job

Oga there's no insult, everyone must not be lucky. Maybe you should go tell Chelsea for appointing lampard instead of Zola....

And they will likely turn down the offer as assistant manager

I don't remember Vivien Thomas having any kind of med degree before he walked into Johns Hopkins and worked as a doctor/lab technician.

Man was a carpenter and later a janitor at a University for Alfred Blalock before he walked into Johns Hopkins with Blalock taking "this janitor" with him as a lab assistant. No degrees. No training.

That is a given. Getting a law degree does not guarantee a good lawyer but you will not use a secretary as your lawyer.

Arteta, Zidane and other young Coaches in europe did not just get appointments because they were good players.

They got the qualifications, first before a club took a chance with them.

Yobo might become a fantastic coach but this appointment was not about merit.

Arteta has no qualification before he was made assistant.

There are some players that are made coach without worthy qualifications, Monk and kompany comes to mind.

Do your research.

Arteta had a UEFA A license when he was still an Arsenal player.

Same qualifications, Oliseh had..

A short background on Arteta:

Mikel Arteta has been confirmed as Arsenal manager and is the latest FAW UEFA Pro Licence coach to take a Premier League top job.

The Spaniard, who was a terrace hero at Arsenal and Everton, joins fellow FAW educated coach, Chris Wilder, of Sheffield United, at English football’s top table.

When the stylish midfielder first turned-up at Dragon Park, to start the 2015 FAW UEFA A Licence course, he was still an important Arsenal player.

But, as part of his A Licence learning, the Basque born star came to Dragon Park in November 2015, to coach the Wales U16 squad which went on to win the Victory Shield, inspired by current senior internationala Ethan Ampadu and Rabbi Matondo.

Once he’d completed his UEFA A Licence course, Arteta joined former Arsenal teammates Thierry Henry and Freddie Ljungberg in the Pro Licence cohort of 2017.

Also on that course was Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool assistant Pep Ljinders, Newport County manager Mike Flynn and Connah’s Quay Nomads boss Andy Morrison.

Throughout this time, Arteta continued to cut his coaching teeth at Arsenal Academy, where his work helped him complete the requirements of the FAW UEFA Pro Licence.

Arteta cut his teeth coaching youth teams while he was getting his licenses. He worked with the wales under 16 team and was working at the Arsenal academy

He did not jump up and become Man city assistant as some people are assuming. He was learning the ropes

Actually... I still see a few stuffs like this happen. But won't say more than that.

With that said... I am shocked by Yobo's appointment. And in the longest run, I prefer an Amuneke to lead the Super Eagles forward than a Yobo based on the fact Amuneke is much more qualified and would be even much more experienced beyond 2022.

But again... I dropped that Thomas example to remind us that indeed people have made it into mainstream professions without the requisite Qualifications and turned out successful. Few examples still exist today.

Ofcourse it is.. Coaching the youth side of a country is good experience for a coach just starting out.

No. Yobo trumps Okocha in football punditry and reading of the game from a technical point. I have heard both talk technical football far too well and Yobo is far more sound than Okocha.

Funny enough Yobo played with Arteta for years at Everton. This just sounds like pull a brother down syndrome. I am hearing 'oh Yobo doesn't have a certificate', are u his mother or spouse? How do u know what the man has? Does every former player advertise that they have a coaching license? Is there something I am missing?

Not everything has a personal agenda. I am not Finidi's mum but i know his coaching credentials and experiences. These things are not hidden.

I hope Yobo becomes a terrific manager but it is too early for such a high profile job.

Maybe he is a quick learner and becomes a top coach. It still doesn't change the fact that based on qualifications and experience, this is too early.

I actually think Yobo is a poor analyst. Never heard good tactical inputs or perspectives out of the regular talks.

Either way, he worked with Moyes for a long while and must have picked some coaching ideas for him.

Not my kind of pick when it comes to style of play.
Sincerely, Yobo may not be as moxie as you are, but certainly he will meet with growth.

Because it was on the news because Finidi is campaigning for a position. Yobo never bad mouthed anyone, Yobo never promoted himself publicly and we need this attitude on the super eagles. If Yobo says he doesn't have qualification I will accept but what I won't agree with is u turning hearsay into fact
