My questions are:
1.is tuition gonna be taken care of?
2. What is d cost difference between ta and ra?

In fact na everybody I call

A TA assist with teaching for undergrad so deals with students
An RA assist with research, so deals directly with the professor on the project not students

So a TA has to like teaching or dealing with students because u be expected to teach students, grade their assignment, supervise exams and attend office hours so u have direct contact with students compared to a Ra

If u dont mind teaching then for me TA same with RA in terms of the funding package (cost difference usually same/ zero) . Both usually come with half ,full or instate tuition plus stipend. However each school is different so to accurately know , it is what is stated on the offer letter when given . ......

AlhamduliLLAAH. Grateful to all the bosses who helped with answering questions, providing insights and posting their interview transcripts.

Also, I'm sorry for pasting my transcript quite late, my eyes just dey clear as I just dey remember the interview clearly. Confama, Walspring dan talk am before, it could take days before the bleary thoughts of the interview become lucid.

My interview was on July 14th, 2016 1:15pm.

Pre-interview note: Having not had enough time to go through the lots of transcripts here, I wasn't that confident but I knew laughter, a warm face and huge smile can hide the fear so I planned using the trick. Immediately I finished with the bio-metrics, I started the trick but my heartbeat just dey skip one after the other as I dey calcu which VO go interview me. One of the VOs was just sharing blue like Christmas gift. I shapaly make am prayer point and started listening to what questions he was asking. A gurl was directed to the VO and she immediately started folding her laps signalling she wants to pee. The lady directing us told her even if she goes to heaven and come back, she will still be interviewed by the same VO, na zo she begin beg but the lady no gree. This was where I noticed most of the VOs are psychologist of some sort. Before you get to them they've probably made their decision with your composure while standing on their counter number pasted on the floor awaiting them to call on you to step up. You are stepping up to the counter to either affirm or disaffirm their judgement. Please always show confidence at this point. The 'pee' gurl came back and was interviewed by the same VO, the guy just free her after small questioning. He probably noticed the drama. Na me the yeye lady push go there next. I almost pee but my smile ehn! no be here o, me sef dey wonder if I inhale modicum amount of laughing gas for the contiguous smile.

ME: Hello, Good morning sir (with my glowing smile)

VO: Hey, what a huge smile! Good morning, please pass me your i20, sevis and passport.

ME: Here you go sir (my smile dan increase as my heartbeat dan dey settle small small)

VO: New Mexico State University, Are there Nigerians in this state?

ME: Yes sir, I know of at least two Nigerians studying there sir.

VO: How ?

Me: I checked the People section on my departmental website after receiving the admission decision and I found two Nigerians there.

VO: Wow! No wonder you've got a huge smile, I can see you've got a a full ride.

Me: Yes sir

VO: So what other schools did you applied to?

Me: NMSU, MIT, Imperial College and Emory.

VO: Hmn! My wife went to emory, it's a lovely school, why didn't you go to emory?

ME: I didn't get a full ride.

VO: Oh! I see. So how did you secure this funding

ME: I think the admission committee was impressed. My research experience likewise my test scores were way beyond the requirements. I modeled 12 NACA Aeroplane wing sections in my senior thesis and my results showed ... (VO cuts in)

VO: Ok, please pick up your visa here bla bla bla

Hello I escorted my mum to the airport 3weeks ago as JJC travellers we parted with like 4k to arrange luggages so as not exceed the flight weight minimum. I really didn't understand what they actually did....but I know they did a fast one.

Boss, I don't want to go down that lane. I am using Qatar and I will only be travelling with a box and my hand luggage(won't be carrying any food or extra load).

Is there a minimum weight?

How can I check before it's weighed by the airline staff.

Thanks

I guess you mean maximum weight. As another poster has said, for economy, the max is typically two 23kg bags for checked in luggage and i think 6kg carry on. I think what happens is that some people pack their bags unevenly and have one bag that for example weighs 21kg with the other weighing 24kg. The total is within the limit of 46kg but the distribution is not. So they now have to repack the bag to redistribute the weight to ensure a bag doesn't exceed 23kg. Though i heard some airlines can let you carry slightly more than the maximum at no extra cost. Especially if na only 1 box you dey check in. But at their discretion.

The other poster has also given you the tips on how to do a preflight weighing. I salute you for traveling lean. Just one box and no foodstuff. Correct guy cheesy. Plus if you have a separate connecting flight, your 1 box policy will probably save you at least $25 in baggage fees.

Edit: Tried it with 2 other peoples' passports. One worked, one didn't. Guess it doesn't pick up some.

It will eventually work on those it's not working on right now..it might take some time. But I wouldn't worry about that at all if I didn't get it to work..there are far more important stuffs for you to think about smiley

adebayoolatunji, the best advice I will give you is look for schools that accept 2.7 or 2.5 then evaluate your transcript. Then also write GRE and do very well and you will get admitted to run a Masters. That's the best advice I will give. No need thinking of PGD. Running a Masters is possible if u evaluate ur transcript, write GRE and also look for safe schools.

A friend of mine had Cgpa 1.95 bachelor's in Nigeria she's going to UK for masters does that chances happen in USA?

Tried it on my expired, new passport and the visa's in there it worked. Download ID scanner powered by blink OCR ... It might take later with old passports like 2-3 mins of scanning and I think it also depends on the sharpness of your camera.

This has been explained in a previous post....and i am too lazy to retype grin

The only thing i can add, inlight of the recent happening with Indian students been refused entry back after a holiday . Make sure the "another uni " is an accredited and not under the table School. .....i would even recommend starting the change after you cross POE so u dont hear story. Just go early at least within 30 days , cross and then initiate the change

Maybe, maybe not. The UK worship money unlike the US.

Ask your friend to give it a try though. But 1.95/5 is just too poor.

if you don't want to have any issue or story, get a connecting flight ticket going to your school,in case the CBP officer ask you then you present it,after you cross you can now make your way to what ever school you want to attend

bus tickets are the best. Way cheaper.
The ticket i bought cost 32.50 dollars while a flight icket will cost me 97 dollars. I would feel comfortable parting with the earlier than with almost 100 dollars. Also if u have just one box that exceeds the limit its best you speak to the airline staff dey are considerate most times as long as its within the limit.
