Nonsense. Lets be reasonable for once and put sentiments a side. Compare it with porthacourt, uyo, ekot, bonny and brass not with that. Besides, Lagos generally was not built with oil money. Lagos was built with investment (both locals and internationally), being former capital.Abuja, i may agree to some extent but I learnt that asari dokubo spent billion of dollars to build university in bennin republic and he has nationality of the country. That would have gone a long way in ND.

Billions of dollars? Have we lost sense of numeracy? If Asari is worth billions of dollars, then the sun is a kerosene lamp.

If we all decided to start blowing things or people up because we are aggrieved then there'll be nothing left! Avengers and the rest of the indigenes of the Niger-Delta are responsible for the decay they live in. Why? It's simple, where did all the money go? Not one single school, hospital or road were built, even the leaders refuse to start businesses that would benefit the community and yet all the blame goes to the Federal government. The youths have been brainwashed into shouting "It's our oyel, it's our oyel" but at the end of the day it's not your father's oil or my mother's but Nigeria's! Blowing up pipelines is an act of terrorism, even advanced countries would not hesitate to eliminate the threat and restore order. So I'm really surprised an experienced military veteran like Buhari is still taking things easy, perhaps old age is responsible

Bluffly:

Fixation on semi-autonomy or oil is not the reason why their land is this way today. The reason is their leaders. Even with semi-autonomy, they will still be uselessly ravished. There is a difference between infrastructural development and diversification of the economy. Despite the fixation on oil, Nigeria generally is not meant to be the way it is. Even when we diversify, the question is still, do we have sane leaders? NO.

I agree that Oil is a curse for this country as it appears to be easy money.

Their leaders are a product of Nigeria operating within a destructive/backward Nigerian structure with large government. You'll never know how they'll fare under semi-autonomy, unless you're Nostradamus. Or are you the re-incarnation of Nostradamus?

The biggest problem with Nigeria is the structure and how folks are trying to foster a deeply divided country along various ethnic fault lines to work as one. Once you take that away - you'll solve at least 60% of Nigeria's problem.

How can 8 trillion naira in 16 years leave you with such rustic development. Something is wrong somewhere.
Its time we ask Niger Delta governors what they have done with such money. That is national budget in two years.

I wish my state was collecting half of what some Niger Delta states are collecting.... You all will be amazed at how the state wil be transformed with it, even though our population is much.
Eve though I agree that 13% derivation is little compared to what the Niger delta/oil producing states should be getting, but How can we be sure that things will be any better with more derivation alloted to them..... What improvements have they made with the extra 13%, community development programs, host community settlement, Special Niger-Delta ministry e.tc?

If you can't utilize your 5 talents well, you would perform even worse if given 50 talents.

13% ,NDDC, ND Ministry? They are their own problems.

The 13%, NDDC and ND Ministry that was a kind of 'shut money' being paid to the criminal elites of the Niger Delta to keep quiet while some region keep a fatter share of the petrodollar wealth while plundering ,looting and raping their land ? No way, the common people are standing up against the injustice in their own way by any means necessary and they are't begging for it - They want it all or nothing.

True the Niger delta has being neglected

but if the truth most be told our so called leaders has failed us

imagine asari dokobo decided to go to Benin rep to build a university

if we must blame others of stealing from us, we need to blame ourselves too

I hope the govt and d avengers would negotiate and the money that would be provided would not end in private accounts but used to develop the land
Asari Dokubo and co are not leaders but opportunists who used the suffering of their people to enrich themselves.

The Nigerian state is not willing to put things on ground that will alleviate the common man from grinding poverty despite the fact that most people from this region live off the land for their daily survival.

The Niger Delta so-called leaders are not leaders but criminals who can arm twist the Government hence they give them their own fair share to shut up . When you take what is happening in the NDDC as an example you'll understand better than on how the criminal Nigerian state has over time destabilize the region only to throw crumbs at them to fight over it till death - But this generation will not fall for their fuckery.

We want it all or nothing.

Let be frank! Why these sudden resurgence of militancy in Niger delta and agitation of the igbos? I still believe it a fallout of loss of election and it's attendant factors: like cancellation of pipeline security contract. Are they suddenly awake? Why are the igbos crying Federal neglect now when they have overwhelmingly been voting pdp government and their people have held juicy positions for 16. Years? Is it PMB whose government is just a year old that neglected them? Is it PMB who shared oil blocks among northerners? For over 30 years the igbos have been at the forefront of anything illegal: drugs peddling, advance fee fraud aka 419, flooding of Nigeria market with fake products especially drugs, leading to thousand death. Most supported IBB's destruction on Nigerian economy claiming he was the best because the government was 'I chop you chop' government not knowing they were postponing evil days. Also what about Daniel Kalu's 1 million man match for Abacha to transform himself from military dictator to civilian President? Then they never cried marginalisation or Federal neglect? Also are we suffering from chronic amnesia to forget what the igbos led by Arthur Nzeribe did to help Babangida scuttle one the freest and fairest election? Then no cry of marginalisation or a federal neglect...no thought of biafra. It is sheer stupidity after helping to destroy Nigeria, they want out. It won't happen. We all sink together. What about the 13 percent allocation to niger delta, nddc and ministry of Nigeria delta? Like their Governor said the ijaws who are the chest beaters in this political units are just damp lazy. They want free money and wouldn't want to work. Nigeria's main problem corruption is a frankenstein monster which every entity in Nigeria helped created, and so by natural law must also help destroy.

Lagos is a former Capital, Abuja is currently a Capital. They all share this money together. Point of correction, Lagos was majorly developed with Agriculture proceeds, before the emergence of oil. Lagos generates IGR and use it well, majorly. Let their Governors put on their thinking cap. If they are peaceful, Businesses would love to locate there but since they are not who will. Do you know what Federal government is owing Lagos state for the development of Federal infrastructures?

We all know that FG mandated all the big corporations to locate Thierry corporate headquarters in Lagos. No Abuja. Do you have any idea how much that amounts to in taxes? Lagos island alone is richer than some states in the north sef. Is it also agriculture money? grin

Why the rest of the West no use the agricultural money? Abi they all agreed to invest it all in Lagos? grin

above are shanty towns in lagos and abuja

shanty towns exist everywhere

only simpletons will whine about so called marginalisation in this

the skyscrapers and shopping complexes etal in lagos abuja ph, etc are built by private individuals , businesses and corporations.

in the course of deciding to build a structure, feasibility studies are conducted

you wonder why no one is investing in infrastructure in your region - that because of your celebrated thugs

who is going to invest in a structure that may be bombed the next day, especially as terrorist attacks are not covered by standard insurance?

They were not much marginalized in appointments & likes or regarded as 5% under GEJ.

Imagine some northern leaders along side pmb vowing to give them the Boko Haram treatment when only it is pipelines they are blowing up, and at the same time they all are denying the ethnicity of the Fulani terrorists, who is maiming & taking lives in a gruesome manner in the south.

So it's d govt that shot herself in the leg sad. To me, one live is more significant to all the pipelines in Nigeria.

Mind you, what they are clamouring for now, is more of federalism. Let them have d larger stake over their resources. That's all. This northerners have 98% stake in their resources and are still calling for their death, using the boyscout military who specializes in terrorizing civilians. Isn't that another form of modern day slavery and savagery?

Nigeria is ripe enough for federalism... The govt needs to act fast, smart and wise to tackle this root cause, so that the country can remain as ONE. enough of military bragadro over there, it will fail, Obasanjo tried it and failed but Yaradua nailed it.

Yaradua, my Hero.
Why not GEJ now?

Definition of patriotism by Malcolm X, the greatest black man ever:

^^^If you're a true Nigerian patriot, you need to speak up against the injustice meted out to these people. What's wrong is wrong - they deserve better. Their oil is sacred just as Fulani cows are sacred to Fulanis.

Do the right thing before it's too late, else you'll create a generation of monsters that will most likely end up destroying the whole country.
