@ All

Just noticed that even with the new thread being started by the moderator and other honourable members of this FTA forum,some members still go ahead to post there reply on this forum even where there exist a far better avenue where there problems would be attended to.If the right problems are directed to the right threads then they would serve as database for other new members who might have such problems in future as solutions to most of there problems would be addressed.

@ohikhena,
I think members need a better understanding on how to use the Satellite TV Technology childboard.
Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by sayso: 3:54pm On Mar 30, 2010
moderator I think if the childboard will work,the official thread has to stop/lock it.
Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by ohikhena(m): 4:43pm On Mar 30, 2010
@ George D

I agree with u 100%.I think what we could do is to direct as many as we can to the appropriate thread that gives solution to there problems.In doing so i think with time they would know where to check for solutions.so as to reduce the cycle of asking already treated questions and dragging every one back with things that could easily be checked at there respective thread e.g anything on the satellite astra 2b should be referred to the thread already running on astra 2b.

@ all

I ask that we try as much as possible to be qualitative in our replys and not quantitative as the case is now.Some times in being silent and just reading we gain even more.Thanks to all great contributors to the whole FTA child board,God bless u all.

@all,
A lot has been happening on the Sat technology childboard lately and I think it's a direct
result of this thread being locked temporarily last week. Let's not wait for another lock out
before we know what to do. Pls use the childboard.

As you follow the "Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4)" through emails sent to

Diseqc HH Motor Issue on Sat TV Technology

@microgiant
thank you, that is a good write-up. i remember that enitan wrote another good one in session 3 as well. kudos to all of you.my question now is- have you ever installed a working HH motor in this part of the globe that tracks the belt well?
if yes, then we should be able to learn from you. ask olofofo, he will tell you he couldnt track well. he has one and i got my superjack HH motor from him late last year. the issue is that the difficulty faced didnt arise from our technicality, the problem, to me, is that HH motor are not designed for Nigeria whose latitude lies btw 5 and 12 degree because the latitude settings printed on the motor always lies btw 15 to 65 and this must be set precisely 2 your local coordinate. i used mine experimentally at ibadan on 7 deg latitude where i tracked the southernmost sats of sirius 4 and W3. tried as i did, i couldnt track the eastern and western sats. the manual is very easy to follow but the spec doesnt match Nigeria factors, so it is better said in theory.
some of the limitations highlighted by spaceman didnt arise at all in practice. The time it takes to move from W3a to Sirius 4 was very very fast that you hardly notice it. because you didnt install HH motor, the decoder look for signal to synchronize to and so took its time. please let us know who has been successful in this installation as i can see that HH motor is an ingenious masterpiece that can transform our fta entertainment in our landlord's house where space poses a legal limitation.
Thank you all.

On Sirius -- its only Free2view channel that all went scramble, they already said it that by the end of this month all their station would be scrambled because they are selling a card which goes for like $45 or 40, and after the purchase you will have it for live no monthly sub, for the SMARTTV its casino TV.

ART pulls plug on FIFA-Cup coverage

ART pulls plug on FIFA-Cup coverage

Arab Radio & Television (ART) is already planning its exit from the pay-TV market in its Middle East homeland. Now it has changed its mind regarding covering this summer's South Africa-based World Cup soccer tournament.

ART had previously said it would cover the games despite having sold the rights to Al Jazeera Sports Channels . ART had earlier said that its subscribers would still be able to view the games under a "rebroadcast agreement" it had negotiated with Al Jazeera.

There were signs that the agreement had broken down when ART failed to show some games from the Africa Cup competition played this past January. Al Jazeera showed the matches.

"Since that time, people here at ART felt uncomfortable with the way things might go with Al Jazeera in the future, especially with the World Cup," said Nawaf Tamimi, ART's public relations chief. "So, since that time, the promotion for the bouquet has stopped. We prepared a marketing and advertising campaign for the sport and entertainment channels, but after that experience, we stopped everything." Only about 10,000 subscribers in Saudi Arabia who bought World Cup packages through ART before the rights sale will have access to the matches on ART, Tamimi added.

Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by GeorgeD1(m): 9:45am On Apr 01, 2010
Walf tv has never been stable. They came out sometime in 2008 and were free for a couple of months before they went scrambled. I don't think anybody misses them though.

Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by GeorgeD1(m): 2:41pm On Apr 01, 2010
@olofofo,
Looks like ART is gradually going the way of MBC. A good development for FTA indeed.

Imagine a free broadcast company that gets 100% of its revenue from adverts. This business model has been so successful for them that they keep adding new channels to their free bouquet year on year. From MBC 1 & 2 shortly after they kicked off to MBC 3 & 4. Then MBC action and now MBC MAX! No fear of hackers trying to break their encription because there is nothing to break into since the signal is free. They collect their revenue upfront from the companies whose product they advertise and they don't have to wait for banks to remit customers monthly subscription to them before they can pay salaries. smiley
I'm sure other paytv providers have been envying their success and they will soon follow suit.
Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by fxproff(m): 3:34pm On Apr 01, 2010
@ Mr George
