I think the accusation is out of hating. Yorubas are not tribalistic but nationalistic; that does not mean we are not proud of our culture, just like the indigenes of  every other tribe in Nigeria should be proud of their respective cultures. This Ibo guy once told me that "why are most Nigerian artists, including Ibo ones, using Yoruba language in their song?" I replied that maybe it makes them move more units or maybe it helps for more universal appeal; that why don't you go and ask the artists yourself? This antipathy towards Yorubas is not right, and I believe is motivated out of envy.
