Give marriage a chance, Chiejine tells female football players

Former Super Falcons goalkeeper, Ann Agumanu- Chiejine has advised female players in the country to give marriage a chance, even as they continue their career in the round leather game.
Chiejine, who ranks top among the first set of female footballers in Nigeria, spoke at the 2020 SheFootball Conference organized by another Falcons star, Ayisats Yusuf Aromire, went down memory lane to educate the players about the importance of starting a family early.
The four-time African Women championship winner, admonished the players not be discouraged by friends, teammates and peer pressure in giving a shot at early marriage.
“It is sad that female footballers are perceived to be marriage shy. Let us move away from this stereotype. As female players, we are good at what we do in the field for our clubs and country, we can equally excel in building a home if we give it a chance.
“I was discouraged by my teammates and friends when I wanted to marry because they thought that I will not be able to play football or hang out with them anymore.
“I have a 24 year old daughter and when you see us together, you will think she is my sister. I got married at the age of 17 and till date, I have no regrets about giving marriage a chance when I did because I enjoy everything my friends and teammates felt marriage will deny me.
“Whatever you think you are doing now, give it your best shot but also have it at the back of your mind that marriage is good”, Chiejine advised.

See I understand that NAIA records are not so respected but they should have also considered her national team record.

I feel for her because I know she would love to continue her career in the states.

She's such a great talent that have been overlooked by the NWSL Club's even with her World Cup Experience she didn't get Drafted.. The US Women football experts and followers have always rated the NAIA women football as an equivalent to the NCAA D2 which i think was a major factor, because the NCAA players have been the only side considered for years now..
if Kanu was to be drafted before it's would have been another history for her as the first NAIA player to get Drafted by a NWSL club, although only one player from the NAIA division have be signed by a NWSL club in History but not through the Draft process but Trail...
Some of the NWSL fans who knew Kanu very well also responded to her not being drafted saying it's because she's not from America, due to the fact that only the US, Canada are mainly considered..
some said the NWSL have lost another great player because she has played at the highest Level (FIFA Women's World Cup)

She's currently at her based in the US, but hope she moved to the European side soonest.. Considering her response when asked what your next move on playing PRO since she wasn't drafted!! she said she's still considering who to Sign for which means there are offer on ground.

https://www.goal.com/en-ng/news/nff-offers-womens-world-cup-qualifiers-preparation-updates/i61e60igxzy1iobz7dqjgoym

The Nigeria Football Federation has provided preparation updates on the country's U17 and U20 women's teams ahead of their Women's World Cup qualifying campaigns next month.

Nigeria participated in the U20 Women's World Cup in France, where they crashed out in Round of 16 in 2018, but failed to qualify for the first time in the U17 competition in the same year in Uruguay.

Since then, the U17 women's side is yet to regroup since crashing out of the qualifier two years ago, while the U20 team are yet to return to camp since winning the African Games last August.

This year, the Flamingos, will in the first round of the Caf U17 Women's World Cup qualifier in February, face Guinea, who bounced out Guinea-Bissau after an 8-0 triumph on aggregate.

On the other hand, the Falconets will in the first round of the U20 Women's World Cup qualifier in March, take on either Burkina Faso or Gambia, with the former holding a 3-2 first-leg advantage.

With barely a month to the qualifiers, an NFF top official disclosed that a new set of coaches will be named for the women's teams with camping activities expected to commence in the coming days.

"We [Nigeria Football Federation] have made recommendations on the coaches for the women's national teams," the NFF technical director Bitrus Bewarang told Goal on Monday.

"We are meeting with the NFF technical committee to get their approval of the appointments. The technical department, with a group of coaches, has been working to get players within the age bracket.

"I can confirm that the teams will resume their camping preparations on or before Wednesday, January 29 this week."

A triumph over Guinea will see Nigeria face either Ghana or Liberia in the final round for a place at the 2020 U17 Women's World Cup scheduled to be held in India from November 2 to 21.

While a win over Burkina Faso or Gambia could see the country take on Cameroon in the second round and later Morocco or Algeria in the final round for a spot at the U20 Women's World Cup.

There are strong speculations linking Asisat Oshoala with European women's champs and the biggest side in France, Olympique Lyonnais Women.

Their top striker, Ada Hegerberg is injured and ruled out for several months with an ACL Injury and that could explain their chase of Oshoala.

It is said that the Lyon Women's sports director is in SPAIN holding talks with Barca for Oshoala but Barca Femeni are so far refusing to sell.

All-conquering European champions Lyon are set to make an audacious bid to snatch Asisat Oshoala from Barcelona following a long-term injury of star striker Ada Hergeberg.

A top source close to Oshoala informed SCORENigeria that Lyon sports director has already landed in Spain to open talks with Barcelona.

“I have it on good authority that the Lyon sports director is now in Spain for Asisat,” the source informed.

“Lyon are desperate to replace their star striker, who will be out for several months.

“But Barcelona do not want to sell.

“We just have to wait and see.”

Oshoala is a woman on fire with 14 goals in as many matches this season.

Lyon Ladies team, on the other hand, are the most dominant team in Europe and beat Barcelona in the final to win yet another European Champions League title last season.

Where are those geniuses that said my lady isn't a world class player? Why is the best club in Europe touting her as replacement for the best player in the world. Abi Barcelona have Hermano so let her go na. If she goes that girl will be exposed as the flat top bully she is and Barcelona will go back to being the second best club in Spain.

French, German coaches jostle for Falcons’ job
• Okon, Danjuma, Mmadu also listed

From Andrew Abah, Abuja
At least two foreign coaches from France and Germany are among the notable names being considered as the next coach of the national women’s team, the Super Falcons.
The Super Falcons post is one of the prime positions being jostle for after the exit of Swede Thomas Dennerby and other indigenous coaches in the mix include former international and former Falcons assistant coaches, Maureen Mmadu and Ann Chiejinne; with others being past handlers of the team including Bala Nkiyu, Christopher Danjuma and Edwin Okon.
NationSport gathered that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is also in receipt of four applications from foreign coaches desirous to replace Gernot Rohr in case the incumbent Super Eagles handler fails to agree terms with NFF for contract extension.

“What I can tell you is that all former national team coaches applied for their former positions but the NFF Technical Committee is making consultations and looking at the applications submitted and very soon the successful coaches will be announced. You know we have World Cup qualifiers for the women’s U-17 national team (Flamingoes) in the last week of February and U-20 (Falconets) in March this year,” the source who pleaded anonymity said.
However, NFF General Secretary, Sanusi Mohammed, flatly refused to comment on the engagement of national team coaches, saying the technical department along with the consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) has been saddled with the responsibilities of recommending capable hands for vacant national team positions.
